You mean there are other ways to run a 5km than to go out too fast and try to hold on for dear life at the end!?!? 🤣

Haha, I knew that this course wasn't that fast because half of it was uphill and on the grass. So I thought that I would just try this 'gradual increase in pace' tactic instead. If the course was completely flat and I wanted to run a PB attempt, then I probably would have ran it fast from the start and hang on like you said. ☺

Swale Runner, that was one of the best 5k I’ve seen yet with you filming it, had to laugh with about 2k to go on the little up hill footpath turn two guys in black shorts looked back & saw you, so they both dug deep & speed up :-) but you came back strong in the last k & flew past everyone, looks like you’ve got really good pacing for a 5k sorted out, excellent stuff, what sort of time did you do?

Thanks for your support! Yeah, I ran the first 2km at a relaxed threshold effort. Then started to speed up a bit after that and see how many souls I could take lol. I didn't want to kill myself knowing that it's not the fastest circuit anyway. Ran a 20.52 with the last kilometer on grass in 3.55! 🏃👍

@@Oni1One good on you, I need to pace myself a bit better in a 5k, a few weeks ago I did a 20min 5k then the next day did the Manawatu half marathon, was a bit stupid thing to do, really struggled in the last few K of the half marathon, hopefully learning from my mistakes lol 😀🌲🌲🍀🌿🏔🏃🏽‍♂️🥳

@@gokiwi2642 Cool. Going to do another 5k in a different course next weekend. Then a one mile road race in two weeks time called the Gosport Golden Mile. Been training more repetitions for that race recently. Aiming for a sub 6 minute mile. ☺

@@Oni1One yep can only get better & better with every 5k ya do, the one mile sounds interesting, we only go by km here in NZ kind of feels strange trying to think running by the mile hehe,

@@gokiwi2642 yeah it's an opportunity for me to run a 1 Mile race on the road, as they are very rare here. The course looks to be a flat and fast 1609m straight drag race by the seafront. But I hope that there won't be a headwind on race day because that would suck bad. A strong tail wind would be lovely to get the best result possible lol. 💨🏃😆
