Great tip old mate.. can ya give the two blokes in the chairs a poke next time to see if they are alive
Great idea with the middle bar! Thank you.
I love how old mate is on the oil!!
No bullshit.. straight to the point.. top vid mate
Thanks so much. I just bought one. I will definitely use these tips
nice breakdown bro....your onto it mate too sharp 🤙🤙 thanks brother
Great extras, thanks for sharing
Great ideas Robyn!
This is great Robin! Useful info!
Really great stuff there! Cheers mate!
That’s gold mate!!
great ideas thanks for sharing
Good tips. Had one of these for 5 years. The velcro is crap but not a major issue. Other than that, all was good. Just be sure to clean your zips after dusty tracks. That's what killed mine.
Brilliant mate!
Thanks for that help me out a lot cheers 🍻👍
Well done mate👍🍺
That middle brace is a no Brainer for fir the awnings. They should come with them when purchased! Great video will definitely be using your idea for mine 👍
Thanks I sure helps with rain
Maybe u can show a little more infonon the clamps or a little more indepth video on it
Great work. Kings should learn from you:)
These are terrific modifications, I'll be doing all of them. I'd like to see a close up of how you've put the central brace onto the side bars. Are you just using a push on clip that the end of the rod fits into? Would like to see a close up. Great, thanks, Robin!
Me too
Same here
Ditto.
Look at 2:01. It's obvious.
great vid thanks mate
Mate, many thanks for your brilliant review. I will be using several of your tips. However don’t know if you have seen it, but a company called Drifta’ make a pre-manufactured spreader bar that fit Kings And also TJM.
Hope the fishing was great. And thanks again.
Have seen it and the price lol
Holy shit, they're more expensive than the awning. Flip that
brilliant you stole my thunder but its good to see what I was thinking worked and Cape Leveaque is my deream destination.
Bloody rippa. I'll use these for sure
Thanks for the great ideas! In Patagonia we have to deal with strong. Will you please explain me how did you attach the central bars to the lateral ones? Thanks mate!
great mods
Ohh I like the feet one!
Genius
Where is the center bar f on? Great tips
Can you please give more detail about how you drilled the holes in the bottom of the upright poles? I'm not an experienced handyperson and the drill bit just keeps slipping all over the place. Also what have you inserted through the holes to prevent the rope from cutting please?
use a nail and give it a gentle tap , mind the fingers, to give it a little mark or indent to guide you
Did you sew the extra pieces of velcro on? Would love some more details on that. Thanks
Just made little adaptor pieces but I am going to pull the awning apart and sew strips on they work awesome in the wind. Never come undone
@@robincoker225 thanks Robin. Any chance of a photo/description. I could see how well they worked but couldn’t figure out what you had done. Assuming double sided Velcro. I am just finishing making my spreader bars. Expecting a wet Christmas 😫
@@MrLaurieLewis its just 2 strips of velco (male/female back to back)sewn together one end, stick it on the original fixed velco on awning so flap faces back toward pole, u can see in the video quickly how it works, hope this helps
@@robincoker225 Ha! I did the exact same thing before seeing this video, good job m8
hi do you have a close up of the Velcro mod as i couldnt see as your hand was in the way please thanks
It's just a flap of Velcro so when attach original flap it's joins straight not on an angle which just peels off in windy conditions
Where would I be able to purchase that middle bar for 3 x 2 awning I’m in Perth Western Australia and what’s it called please?
Home made
Buy the plastic clips from bcf, make the spreader bar from pvc tubing or old tent poles
I've bought a 275 cm long C clip T-nut spreader pole from Snowys to go side to side or you can buy an already 2.5m curved spreader pole from Drifta that goes from vehicle side of awning to the front of the awning. I'm also in Perth.
great ideas but i was wondering how you fixed the velcro straps what you said was to me not very clear, can someone or you give me more detail, i know the straps are cheaply attached, and not sure how to make more secure. with the cross brace i chose a twist lock pole from an old mop, and added a piece of 25mm aluminium tubing to it, works fine so far. I also liked the carabiner idea too, thanks again
I have removed canvas and sown the Velcro strips on over original Velcro. The strip needs to be only sown on the end which becomes a flap of Velcro so the other peice of Velcro which goes around the pole can attach along it giving a better connection. The way you buy the awning the Velcro strips attach on an angle and peel off with the wind. If that makes sense
@@robincoker225 wow fast response, sort of makes sense, so you sew the new fluffy bit over the old, at the 1.08 mark it looks like the new hook part of it is a separate strap that is freely around the pipe which then attaches to the old reinforced velcro?
But then mine is an old second hand one so it cost me nothing, i have also taken the old shitty cheap pop rivets out and replaced with heavier ones, and the cheap 6mm bolts holding the arms on are now M8 with nylocks and a piece of AL right angle to take the pressure off the thin walled extrusion when extended. the side bars are weird in that the spike on the end doesnt go all the way in because of the tarp slide extrusion so i put a small block in between the two thin walls to give it some more to bite into. It wouldnt take much to turn this thin wobbly device into something that would last much longer. Oh and the pop rivets joining the two mounting plates together were all but missing so heavier pops with bigger flanges were used and now shouldnt shake to pieces.
Where can I get a spreader pole like that?
we made our own, don`t know where u could buy one
All good thank you 👍🏼
Tent world has HEAPS of poles and stuff you can mod.
Is the guy in the blue singlet alive ??
