There music band became more of a poppy electronic group that was more like Adam Levine and his friends instead of being an actual pop rock funk band called Maroon 5 which there first three albums of Hands All Over. Everything went down hill after there last recorded legit music of 2009-2010 of Hands All Over album. 😞
For me, and I am sure many more fans, this is Maroon 5’s best song! Groovy beat with their greatest guitar riffs and it really is their best suited song to Adam’s vocals.

I love this song and band myself, but it's DEFINITELY NOT funk. Try the Gap Band, James Brown, Parliament...look up James on Soul on Top with Louie Bellson on drums. This is very easy drumming in comparison, but being fair, he's a good drummer and the song doesn't NEED more. Bellson is phenomenal. This is just pop rock. :)

Maybe it is not pure funk but it does have the funk undertone to it! Earlier material of M5 bordered on funk (not purely as you told ) and pop rock, although now it's more electro-pop and somewhat pop-rock. :)

I just went to a concert... it was after covid so they were happy to be back out on the road again. They even commented how there were people of all ages there. It was awesome. The most packed concert I've been to yet...the energy was fire.
