What people fail to mention is that a new coolant neck has two little tabs inside to hold the thermostat in place while it's being bolted in. Put the stat up in the neck, barely turn to engage the tabs, put it on the engine and bolt down.
Hi my friend, my golf MK4 1.9 TDI 2001 has a issue where it over heats and drops water within 10 mins of driving, I thought it was the head gasket ZZ but someone told me it should be a thermostat issue, any ideas or suggestions
It's not your thermostat . Either there is a leak in the radiator or a hole in the radiator hose . Thermostats regulate the temperature of the coolent .
Mario C it's only on a long journey it looses all the coolest, local drive just causes the pipes to get really hot and causes a air lock when the cap is open even after I have left it to cool, thanks for your response
Hi i recently changed my temp sensor on my mk5 golf tdi. Got told my temp sensor wasnt working hence temp gauge not moving at all. Changed temp sensor but still doesnt work. What do you think itll be.
Wow what pony. To change to part maybe 10/20 mins depending on the state of the stat. But what about bleeding the air from the system on a tdi a long time. Is your name Arthur -job another CZcams mechanic.

When its cold outside I warm it up a wee bit first so my fingers don't freeze

Hi you didn't say of it resolved your problem. Did you have to do temp sensor or was all fine after thermostat change?
10 F***ing hours on a common rail tdi!
I feel te pain
... better remove / turn down the generator, to unlock / lock the 2 screws better - else the lower screw maybe no chance
I don’t understand what you mean
@@marioc4707 the lower screw can be hard to open ... so you need space / turn away the generator to be free
thank you very much.

So you didn't think it is worth mentioning the year and engine type... hmmm...
Literally the first thing he says "How to change the thermostat on a 2001 golf tdi"
@@stephenresidue4854 You cannot search for spoken words unfortunatelly.
It's definitely a Alh TDI 1.9l engine if you understand the year and model. Just read a bit more and then you should understand.
He mentioned the year at the start
@@christopherdooley9324 He meant when searching in youtube, be specific with the car year/model etc in the title.
