- Hello fellow equestrians! :) Join me for a lesson on Daisy! During this lesson I struggle to keep my stirrups while cantering and hold on for dear life as I lose BOTH of my stirrups (while wearing slippery pants LOL). Daisy was an angel, as per usual.

I always lose my stirrup when the lesson horse I usually ride just halts during the posting trot and I can’t imagine what it’s like to lose your stirrup during a canter! I love how you ask your instructor how to fix things you’re struggling with! ❤ I wish you the best with your equestrian journey ❤

Honestly you ride so well and your seat is so good!!! One key thing in a canter if you don't want to lose your stirrups is to try not to tense as much and put some wait on to your toes ❤. It will take time to master and your already so so good at riding.

Sometimes it helps if when you’re going to the can or you shorten your straps and try to put as much pressure down into them as you can but I love how you check your tack every single time

So happy i found this channel, i love watching your videos! I truly get so excited whenever you post lol! Also, if you were looking for breeches that don’t slide, a good brand that i use is esprit equestrian their breeches feel almost like leggings but the have extremely good gripping!!!

one tip: when your cantering try to keep daisy nice and collected, I know that your new to cantering so when you keep them slow it helps build your balance and confidence! Then once you think you’ve mastered that then you can go what speed you want! :) (this is just my opinion! I love your channel and your personality keep up the amazing work,
and don’t ever give up because horseback riding is very hard and it takes a lot of time to get where you wanna be! keep riding, and I love your videos ❤️❤️

Hey girly! Omg losing your stirrup in canter makes your HEART DROP! But I have a tip to SAVE you!
Make sure you are putting as much weight on you stirrup as possible. And always make sure to sit back and legs back, because if you keep your legs forwards, you WILL lose your stirrups! ❤

Well done for staying on with no stirrups. It will be no time before you can keep them and feel comfortable in canter with no hands on the saddle. I would definitely call you a pretty competent rider and I think you will be very glad in a few years to be able to look back and see the change. I love how you notice when something doesn’t feel right and you try to correct it, that’s what makes a good rider.

Tack always is a big problem for me! I have always checked, check and triple checked everything and every time my mom comes over and is like “you forgot this!” And I’ve been riding for about 7 years now! It’s awesome how you checked it after someone else already did! :)

I had the same issue with my cantering where I would lose one or both of my stirrups. My instructor told me it was because I was pinching in my knees and tensing up. It took a while and sometimes still happens but I really try to focus on my breathing and relaxing/loosening up when cantering. You are a great rider and I love watching all your videos they are super inspirational.

I think the breeches will wear in and become not as slippery, also the tack might have beeen polished recently which can lend itself to being slippery, which are awesome btw
The arena can be "murder" when it is hot. As for the stirrups, I am right there with, some lessons are fine others well everything is off kilter. All about the learning process. Look forward ro the next lesson, mine is tomorrow. Take care

This is just a suggestion: when I had problems losing my stirrups in the canter, it was because I was pinching with my knees, causing me lose control of my lower leg. Hope this helps!

Tip: If you put more weight onto your stirrups and heels it helps to stop them from slipping
I have a suggestion for breeches! They can be a little pricey but Kerritseq has a lot of sales. I have the ice fil knee patch breeches, they’re amazing during the summer, HAVE SUPER DEEP POCKETS!!’, and they’re comfy enough for me to sleep in (i’ve done so haha). I also have the 3 season full seat breeches, they have the little rubber bits on your ass and down your legs where the inside of the saddle would rub. They’re amazing for helping you stay in the saddle if you’re a beginner or just have trouble with not sliding everywhere, I used them a lot when I first started jumping :)
beautiful riding! If you’re always losing your stirrup in the canter, maybe you can ask your trainer if you can shorten your stirrup by a hole or two in the canter? Just to have that extra stability until you get your seat down.

Omgosh I needed this video. Yes, please give us your opinion on riding atire. I ride in non equestrian tights and leggings. I'm looking to buy a PR with full seat in the future. I'm looking for grip not slip. I need to work on all the things you are working on to be a better rider. Beautiful arena and great horses.
I have a pair of breeches from Elation that are full seat silicone and they’re great!!! Super sticky and they’re one of the more affordable brands I’ve seen ☺️ I’ll do more reviews for sure in the future! I want to try a bunch of different brands
