      I've had one for quite a while and I've got no complaints. It's definitely made for mostly lighting cigarettes though because of how close the electrodes are, which is the biggest gripe I hear. This lighter operates kinda like the ignition on a car. It's a DC spark and although not really designed to jump or "arc" across like that but at certain power levels it can and will in order to complete the circuit, which is what it's doing . The arc makes an X just because it's how the circuit was set up, or else it would just go to the pole straight across from it. Kinda like a figure 8. It's done strictly for the novelty of it and has no bearing on the operation of it. Oh yea, I keep also hearing complaints about battery life but it's important that you turn it to off while charging or it won't charge well at all. Ive found that most forget this detail.

    Everything has it's own purposes; Cigarette Lighters were meant to light up "cigarettes " not candles. That's why there's some small sticks in a tiny box called "matches" which they server for several purposes like light up a stoves and candles :)

      +PBWillyWonka That's fine when these get advertised as cigarette lighters, when I bought this one it was advertised as a general purpose lighter which it doesn't manage. Just something for people to be aware of before getting one.

    There are very few lighters that are effective on a recessed candle. Even a jet lighter requires the candle to be held upside down. Using opposable thumbs, twist a paper towel shred into a wick. Can you figure out the steps from there?

    A couple of years ago I was able to get those 'stick' style that you describe from a few Chinese sellers. I like to light my hand warmers and backpacking stove with them. Last year I could only find one seller that had them on Ali, and now they are also gone. They had the advantage of being light, and the battery life was decent, possibly because they cost almost $10.00. So I suspect they quit making them because although they were perfect for us non-smokers, but smokers did not like them. Now I find you can get by with the $2.00 'coil' style USB lighters, but their batteries are pretty bad and they are not as good.

    • @Weaponsandstuff93
      @Weaponsandstuff93  Před 7 lety +2

      I managed to get one for about £15 sold as a Daqun kitchen lighter. It's the best of the electric lighters for practicality of actually being able to light stuff other than cigarettes, however the shape makes it a bit awkward to go in a pocket, I managed to find a Zippo style arc lighter which is also a good design because the arcs are easier to contact with stuff.

    • @MountainParameters
      @MountainParameters Před 7 lety

      Thanks, I did find something similar to that last night on Ali, so I ordered one (about $12.50). As you note, too big for pocket, but looks suitable to carry in pack. Those smaller coil style USB ones work well enough to activate a hand warmer, so I'll just pocket carry one of those if needed.

    I love my Tesla lighter. But I would love to have a double. I find it very convenient. I light my candles all the time. I only use tapers or rounds. For your candles in a glass, which I would never use, you could use a taper to light your candle in a glass.
    I want one of those stick lighters for the cool factor. I have an IPhone. Do you know if adapters.

      I like them but they're a bit too long to be practical, all I really want is an arc lighter with a removable lid and the button on the front. The Zippo style ones are the closest thus far.

    • @josephbennett3482
      @josephbennett3482 Před 5 lety

      No because the cap is in case of accidental activation when it's on you don't cause a fire or a child would mess with it. If you tamper with the safety features of the lighter it will void the warranty and also cause injuries to you or someone else.
