    I have exactly this problem! Same codes and symptoms. When cold, the spanner light is off, but as the engine warms up it comes on and goes into limp mode. The garage I took it to said its the throttle position sensor, but that it wouldnt be worth putting in a new pedal. I need a new ecu. Thk you. Once I get a second hand one I shall follow your instructions with the reset ecu. Thks very much!

    Hello, Great video!
    I have a couple of questions for you.
    I own a vauxhall Astra '03. Recently I have had problems when trying to accelerate, thecar just lost power one day, while driving. I restarted the car a couple of times and the problem went away... temporarily. The problem started becoming more frequent after a while. It would work just fine if i left it standing for about 5 hours than after 10 minutes of driving it would lose power again or if i turn the ignition on and off again. I also have the ABS light comming on intermittently. I left the car at a workshop and they found four different fault codes. But couldn't find the problems. (The codes were P0135, P0230, P0530, C0040.) I was wondering if this sound like a faulty ECU to you? Also what software are you using in the video and is it available to download anywhere?
    Thank you on before hand!
    Best regards

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs Před 8 lety +1

      Hi
      Thank you for watching!
      Some of the codes you have can be related with the issue you are experiencing.
      What I would do is delete all the codes, if they are only stored codes, drive the car and see what comes up again.
      One of the codes you have is related to the O2, the other one to the fuel pump, you might need to properly test this components and the wiring from them back to the ECU. .. if all OK, then it might be the ECU at fault.
      Test also the components related from the other faults, it will help you to do a better judgment.
      I am afraid I can't help you much more with the info you have provided
      Hope that helps.

      @@sarahlou75 No I had to crash the car. Apparently, it is the TRANSMISSION ECU you need to change not the standard ECU. It can be found somewhere just under the battery. Just get another one second-hand from a similar model in the breaking yard and have it remapped for your car. I was caught up with moving to another house with on-road parking and my MOT expired so I had to get rid of the car. I hope this helps.

    +lmsvvavr great video, question though - how did you fix the first problem? Did you changed the wheel bearing hub or something else? I have the following problem with my Astra 2002 1.6 8v nonABS (takes the speed from wheel bearing hub on the left wheel):
    1- Sometimes the speedometer is not working for 2-5 mins when I turn the engine on and driving it. Then works normally.
    2- Only when the speedo is not working the engine power is not stable - kangarooing (small jumpings) and sometimes the engine cut out when I approach traffic lights/junctions (braking without on gear - idling)
    So I am more thinking like it is the ECU or the ABS wheel hub. Any advices please??

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs Před 8 lety +1

      Hi
      Thank you for watching.
      The non ABS models take the speed from that left wheel, you can measure the sensor using an oscilloscope, part of the speedo system, is also a converter, with the shape of a relay, which is located on the driver side footwheel...
      They can also fail.
      Hope that helps....

      Hi
      Thank you for watching and for your comment!
      In this case the ECU came reset (no pin) and ready to be programmed.
      You will still need the pin from your car...
      You will have it on the car security card.
      If you don't have that, the dealer will provide it at the cost of a small fee.
      Last option is to retrieve the code, for that you have a few options... carprog is one of them...
      Google will help you with it...

    I've purchased a secondhand ECU that has already been reset. I followed your instructions but it would not program - probably due to the configuration not matching my car. I've configured the ECU variant and CAN to match my original specs, and I've also reset my BCN, immobilizer, ECU and instrument cluster. Then, I tried to program immobiliser and ECU through immobilizer function as you suggested.
    However, it does not go through with it and gets stuck on "See Checking Procedure Before Programming !" .
    Have I done something wrong and can this be corrected?

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs Před 8 lety

      Hi
      Thank you for watching!
      The first step will be to get the codes from the ECU, that can help to point you in the right direction.
      If the pedal was changed and you still have the same problem, obviously the cause for it is something else.
      Although the codes can give you some clues, this is not always the case, as sometimes can be something else that is causing a false code.
      For example, you have a code for your air flow meter (MAF), it might not be nothing wrong with it, for example if the is no feed (voltage) to it due to a broken wire...
      In a case like that, and based on your info, before a faulty ECU can be diagnosed, there is some checks that need to be done.
      They can be time consuming, and that is why sometimes garages prefer to replace parts and hope it works, rather that spend time looking for the root cause of the problem.
      Sorry if can help you more.

    • @georgiaolivia95
      @georgiaolivia95 Před 8 lety

      2/3 of the codes were throttle related and the other was a signal from ECU to gearbox. Garage has said that my ECU is faulty and they will replace it. Just dread it happening again

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs Před 8 lety

      +All Things Beauty UK
      Well is the ECU has been diagnosed faulty then you obviously need to get it replaced.
      If it happens again?
      Some cars have their ECUs in a really bad location, some Vauxhalls have the ECUS bolted to the block, has we all know one of the things electronics don't like is heat...
      so attach the ECU to the engine was not a very smart idea. ..
      And that is one of the reasons why they fail.
      So, bottom of line is, yes it can happen again, but a new ecu should last for time...
      Hope that helps.

      Vauxhall won't swap it if it's not erased as you probable know..
      I was just wondering if you have read this type ECU with Op-com?
      It's off a 2012 Merida 1700 diesel.
      Cylinder 2 open circuit, Common fault apparently. I sent it for repair but multi layer PCB faulty between layers.

      But from eBay, can you not find one ecu already reset?
      That would save you some headaches...
      To program the replacement ecu, you do it through the immobilizer... not the ecu itself...

      But, because you are saying that the car runs just fine afterwards, it can be a ecu problem...

    Hello, my friend .. I have a problem with an opel astra G year 2004 motor 1.8, this vehicle presents a problem that does not accelerate and has the turn on the engine wrench light and light, put scanner and throw the dtc P1120 and P0120 , Test the accelerator pedal sensor and the electronic throttle body and these are in good condition. Checking the input and output signals of the accelerator pedal sensor, I could verify that one of the 5 volt reference voltage of the APP 1 is 0 volts and the APP 2 is 5.01 volts, I assume that the problem May be the ECU. Similarly to TPS 1, the reference voltage of 5 volts in one is 0 volts and the other 5 volts. I am almost sure that the problem is the ECU, I am right ..?, I hope your good comments and advice .. Greetings from Venezuela.

      Hi
      It looks that you have done all the tests, and you are in the right direction...
      to test it even further, you can jump the 5v reference that still working, to the app where the 5v are missing... if the problem is the 5v reference missing from the ECU, when you do this, the codes just go away... as you will have the app with the two 5v reference...
      If you verify the above, then is possible that the ECU is at fault... but check connectors and wiring before assume that.
      Hope that the above makes sensor to you...
      Thank you for watching!

    • @ERbebe7
      @ERbebe7 Před 7 lety +1

      OK thanks.
      Now. Why does the TPS 1 also have 0 volts at its reference voltage ..? . It has to do with the APP1 has 0 volts in its reference voltage too ..?
      The TPS1 works directly with the APP1 and the TPS2 works directly with the APP2 ..?

    • @LMAutoRepairs
      @LMAutoRepairs Před 7 lety +1

      angel navarro
      That's how it should work... each position sensor will have a separate voltage reference...
      Now if you have one missing, you can just test by use the one that still working to feed the one that is missing...
