9 YEARS later and i still love this video! Great job Thomas!
I still watch these older videos and enjoy them as much now as I did 3 years ago
Just watched this again Thomas - stunning video that I am sure you are immensely proud of. I am sure has inspired thousands of hikers and landscape photographers! My 8 year old daughter watched it with me and want to come on a wild camp as well! Absolutely awesome mate!
I am a 72 year old lady...but very keen on photography.....you have given me SO much inspiration...I am of for my 4th visit to Norway next week...but the first time with Hurtigruten.
I have made notes of your 'tips',
I Thank you very much....and your photos have brought pleasure to my Heart...
That is very kind of you to say, thank you. Enjoy your time in Norway, I'm sure you will have an amazing time.
In today's world, along with your beautiful work, I have a great deal of respect for someone who says, "I can't complain" and then makes the best of what they are given.
The joy of place; the joy of light. Thank you for this.
Jim Keener No problem, glad you enjoyed it.
Place Fell really is a special place. The views down over Patterdale are truly spectacular
Awesome views you've got there. The cloud inversion is amazing with that pinkish/reddish sky above it, that's fantastic. I've discovered your channel yesterday, and I can't stop watching your stuff. The photographs you bring are so great, with such a beautiful composition. I really do like the explanations that comes with them, the why you do what you do, not trying to shoot everything but waiting for the right moment for the right capture (that you explained really good in your Iceland video).
Amazing stuff, thanks for your videos, keep up the good work, it's inspiring.
+Alexandre Grison Thanks for your comment, it means a lot & I'm glad to hear that you are enjoying the videos.
+Alexandre Grison Same here, i just discovered it but i have to say this is an amazing channel.
Me too! I really love your video's and absolutely love your photo's! Keep up the good work!
I always come back to this particular video.
It never gets old. The vibe is strong with this one.
Unbelievable. Was talking to my friend about how come such a view really exist. Absolutely a-stunning.
So beautiful. I watch this over and over. The song (in case anybody wondered) at 10:34 is by The Unthanks, called 'Nobody Knew She was There'.
Amen about the campsite!!
Tents are just great!!!!
Watched this 5 years ago and loved it. 5 years on and its still one of my fav videos you have done. Just great.
Looking back at this video today, the very video that inspired me to photography two years ago. Thank you Thomas :)
That was an awesome morning sight all clouded in!
i like your down to earth style. nothing flashy. very practical and thought out. well explained. mix of photography and camping
Hello Thomas... This is my first adventure into your world of photography. Your name was mentioned by a great photographer on CZcams, Paul Johnson. So you came into my world with a great stamp of approval.
I was not disappointed. Your video was very good, your photographs were amazing, and your love for photography shone brighter than any star, when day engulfed night.
Thank you for sharing.
Fantastic views. Thx for posting, Thomas. You're an inspiration. I see now why Beatrix Potter wanted to preserve the Lake District.
I watch your videos about the places you go to! Please, keep them coming!! You are amazing with what you do.
Your pictures are absolutely breath taking. the picture with clouds that rolled in was beautiful!!
Stunning little video mate. What a great view from the tent you had. Thanks.
solo camping is great , really meditative, seems like a time that you really learn a lot who you are.
two years on, this is still awe inspiring
This was just incredible. Couldn't have imagined the clouds forming so uniformly below you. Just wow.
The images here are breathtaking.
Watching this is 2023 and still loving the style of his videos
OMG...if there's one CZcams vlog that has made me want to buy a new lightweight tent, dust off my old camping gear, pack my cameras and head back to the hills it's this one! Inspiring! New sub!
You take fantastic photos. And an unexpected result of all of this is that you make some incredibly relaxing videos. I show them to people who aren't photographers and we enjoy them immensely. Keep taking your time; we all look forward to more videos.
+David Kingsbury That's great to hear, thank you for sharing my videos with your friends. It's very much appreciated.
I've enjoyed all of your videos and photos, but this one has to be my favorite one. the first cloud inversion photo was just and when you showed the view from your tent that morniong was amazing.
Rewatching these videos. Getting super inspired.
That os absolutely jawdroppingly beautiful. Well done!
Awesome video. Great editing. Agree with others comments, do more like this one. thanks!
So glad I found this channel, I cannot wait to watch more!
Wow that cloud inversion was amazing!
Absolutely love the image of the tent.
I love watching these videos. Even on vacation, I've never been to the true outdoors like this and it's fascinating to see that places like this do exist. It looks like there's no one else there at all, and you'd get to have all the amazing views to yourself.
Yes! This is how you should capture landscape shots. Thomas my biggest compliments from Portugal. Just epic stuff!
+scotie690 thank you, you're very kind.
I take it your illuminated picture of your tent is the one Flickr uses at its sign in . Congrats.
Thank you for putting this together. Its really interesting to see your integrated flow with the camping/photography. You have it down to a science.
Now that I've watched all your videos... I'm gonna go take some photos! Thanks for the inspiration!
Stunning was an understatement! Wonderful and inspiring video - thanks so much. Fantastic photos too!
5 years later I'm still showing this video is the single video that got in into hiking, camping, and landscape photography
That cloud inversion was amazing
what a beautiful area . And what a beautiful photos
Wow. Simply amazing. Thank you for taking the time to share this with us.
This video is fabulous, very inspirational, thanks for sharing, going to the lakes for the first time next week
Mike Redstar Hey. thanks. The lakes is my favourite place, you'll have a great time.
Fantastic video. Waking up to that cloud inversion must have felt absolutely amazing.
This video was the great leap forward in production times and your confidence and natural conversational style were beginning to appear. It will be good to see another video returning to great end, looking towards great Gable possibly From the summit crags!
Fantastic photographs, work and effort you are providing us here. Thank you!
Those cloud invertions are stunning. Mind Blowing.
I've watched all of your recent videos (2016/17) so when that first image popped up I was waiting for the music to kick in, like we've all come to expect (I love that music). I'm one of those inquisitive types that looks for the finer details that make a vlogger a good successful vlogger. My appreciation for those finer details just went up. Great video as always and I can definitely see how much you've mastered the art as time has passed đ
I'm from Indonesia ... and I really like watching your videos ... and learning a lot about photos..thanks brotherđ
You are the suvivorman of photography. I did the same thing back in the mid eighties in Colorado, mostly in Rocky Mountain National park. But these videos have inspired me to find new places to shoot, I now live south easter Pennsylvania, so the landscapes and vistas are as grand.
+William Santiago Ha, thanks for that but i'm not so sure. I'm glad to hear that you have been inspired to get out and shoot.
This was fantastic. This is exactly the sort of stuff I needed. I've been so muddled in my head about the different styles of photography. I started off in Landscape (no money in landscape photography in India, at-least none that I can find) , moved to weddings for money (hated it), did some portrait work but now I just want to find a way to get back into landscape and travelling. This video was sort of a polite awakening that said "this is how you do it, so simple, stop fooling yourself". Thank you so much.
Ankit Kumar Lal Just enjoy it and the rewards will come. Have no other motivation than to produce beautiful images and you will get along just fine.
Thomas Heaton Thanks. And also, who doesnt like Of Monsters and Men eh :D. Keep it up.
Thanks for sharing man, I'm a Texas based amateur landscape photographer and I've certainly been inspired by this. In my opinion landscape photography is so much more than just a picture is an experience and you've managed to put it all together in this vid, massive congrats from another curious mind.
Thanks for your comment. I totally agree, it's all about the story and the experience. The difficulty is getting that across in your image; I'm still struggling with this.
Quality video, its ones like this that i can come back to and watch over and over..
jesus i love that sound of he tent opening hahaa from all those trips you cant just hear the tents opening everymorning
+kappakappawwww Haha, yeah i know what you mean. After not camping for a while, you go out and there it is, the sound of camping. Second home.
+affalaffaa exactly omg hahha i sound like a litte teen girl say omg but owel
+Joey the OG ~ we always called it the zipper alarm.
nostalgic AF
Thoroughly enjoyed the video Thomas. Great location one of my favourite spots in the lakes, really clever work with night shot with tent lake and Glenridding in the background. Could not of picked a more perfect time to go. Keep these videos coming, getting some great ideas off you đ
Great video and superb landscapes. I had never heard of a cloud inversion before watching your video. It makes for amazing, surreal landscapes.
Really like the way you show all this! GREAT JOB, thanks!
I really love your video Thomas and your photos too! And I'm in love with the soundtrack , I know that group and are fantastic! Please continue to upload videos!
Inspirational... This video made me wake up early for sunrise the very next day and go and shoot.Keep up the good work Tom! Love the content.
Awesome! Thanks for sharing your trip!
Watch this video and now getting my camping gear out. Thanks for the inspiration/motivation.

finally a landscape photography video that looks like it was done by a photographer .. awesome job
Wow!! The last picture is fantastic
Utterly magic, mate! Great video, very nicely shot, and just enough commentary whilst letting the superb landscapes do most of the talking. Very, very enjoyable and inspiring.
Subbed! Cheers!
O man! This was one of the most inspiring videos I've ever watched on YT! Awesome
Really enjoy your video! Great scenery and excellent pictures. Keep up the good work. Glad to know what you carry on these outings. Looking forward to more.
Great video and brilliant landscape images
DerryPhotos Thanks a lot.
Just so fantastic spot and your photos are stunning well done, can't wait to get out wild camping with my dog too.
It was really a nice video of your adventure for this picture. A video thatâs timeless
Thatâs just stunning. Nicely done. đđ»
Always enjoyable...........I admire your tenacity!
I'd love to see a live screen recording of your photoshop editing process! Other than that, loved the video!
I have watched a couple of your videos now, you explain what you are doing and why in a way that is informative, makes sense and anyone watching can feel the passion you have and makes me feel i need to shut the pc down and get out there now!!!! . . . . . The cloud inversion shots are just amazing . . . . . as they say "keep `em coming" . . . Brilliant :)
Brilliant film loved it just awesome
What a beautiful sight to wake up to. I've always loved photography, but never had much money. After years of point and shoot frustration, I'm finally able to make my new DSLR do more and more what I want it to do. Your videos have inspired me to practice as much as I can, and learn as much as I can fit into my free time. Thank you for that!
Great choice of music, too
Thomas, thank you for making these videos, and taking such gorgeous pictures, I am absolutely hooked. Additionally, I wanted to tell you how much I appreciate your philosophy of not overshooting when you're out in nature, it has helped me remember to stop and look around at the beauty that surrounds us. Keep it up!
I`m subscribed to your channel for a while now ... and I really love the way you take photographs , the way you approach things , the composition , it`s just stunning , you should do a workshop or a travel tour somewhere in England , I would love to attend it .. I would follow you anywhere on this planet .. you are like my mentor in Landscape photography . And I just want to tell people once again ... I do have quite similar photography gear as you have , it`s just not the gear that makes a GOOD PHOTOGRAPH !!! IT`S THE MAN BEHIND THE VIEWFINDER , and this is awesome .
One of my favorite videos! đđ
Beautiful bro, stunning part of the world you just captured.
Did anyone else notice that the picture with the tent in it is the entrance photo for Flickr?
Darin Rashleigh yep, thought it looked familiar đ
Darin Rashleigh. Yep, i did doubletake and even screenshot to confirm :). I figured someone in the comments would say something!
Yeah, I noticed immediately and just got crazy excited!
Loving the videos Thomas, great to see a shared passion on here. Looks like you had some awesome conditions, unlike my last visit there I endured a total white out in a snow storm. But I love being out. Keep up the good work.
all the comment prove just what a great photographer you are and you really tell .love it
Lawrence Whitehead Thanks so much for your comment. Very much appreciated.

I'm still loving these video's Thomas! Your channel is definitely going far as predicted mate! Those gopro's give you some nice footage, way better than I'm getting on my d3100 which is something i've been scratching my head over. I'm picking on of these up soon, but might go for the Xiaomi Yi, i hear good things about it. Great vids, lovely editing as always!
