    Well done, sir! Thanks for the very informative video. I’m quite impressed. Yes, it is a lot of hassle, but nothing too difficult - it’s not like I’m rebuilding the engine or some such!😂 As I sometimes say, not difficult, but very involved.

    Yesterday I did this job and I guess I needed to pay closer attention to the video because with my 2015 Subaru Outback Premium the headliner seemed to be glued to the rooftop too much to route this way. I opted to follow forward along the base of the drivers side door frames.... was okay but super tight.

      @@soinaru Got mine in yesterday. The headliner trick for me was to focus on a path towards the passenger side, using a long flexible plastic rod to fish tape it through. I pulled the wire from back towards front and paid very close attention to avoiding any air bag

    how do you remove / pry open that cable conduit boot? specially on a 2018 suburban?

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  Před 20 hodinami

      Each vehicle connector is not identical on every car. For more vehicle-specific information about your 2018 Suburban a factory repair manual is a great idea. Often with newer vehicles you can also find crucial install information on model specific forums, too. I hope this helps!

    The air bag heads up made this worth watching. Can you run the camera wire down the drivers side instead?

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  Před rokem

      Sure. The best route will depend on your exact application.

      Sorry, Don. We don't actually research vehicles for information on routing camera wires so you will want to take some time to plan your best/easiest installation route. as you prepare to install the camera.

      @@donmack5039 With my 2015 Subaru Outback I actually did this job twice, with the first attempt being on the drivers side. In my opinion the passenger side is easier with there bring more empty space for the wire routing. Passenger side has a glove box, drivers side has steering wheel and wiring harness

    Thank you for this. I'm still a bit confused. I thought the red wire (in the hatch) had to be spliced into the rear reverse bulb? Maybe I missed that part.

    • @crutchfield
      @crutchfield  Před 2 lety

      Hi there! That depends on the specific setup of the back-up camera you are installing. The camera in the video has a convenience wire that runs to the front of the vehicle to make the power connection at that location. Others will tie into the reverse light wire.

      @@crutchfield Yesterday with my Subaru Outback 2015 and an aftermarket Crutchfield Pioneer 1500DX I had a opt to attach the power wire at the backup light at the rear of the vehicle. Up front it's just way too many wires packed into a very compressed space for any splicing

    Nice job but I would be concerned that the camera might get knocked off at the car wash. I think a tight mount or flush mount would be best, no?

    • @crutchfield

      Good mounting hardware does make all the difference. What mounting locations do you tend to use most often?

      Hi. We don't have a record of the camera being installed, but the installation is pretty standard across most cameras. The wiring will basically be the same with any model you choose.
