Hi, Robin! I love all your work and love how well you explain each stitch. It's always a pleasure to watch them and I've learned many things from you. Thank you. Have you ever tried to do the "Wiggly pattern?" I did a search on your channel's page and it didn't come up. It's an afghan pattern that has two parts. The first part is, basically, an Interlac pattern of squares, usually done in a neutral color. Then the second part is the pattern. What you do is, working from the interlac, you make DC or TC along the lines and, depending on the pattern you choose, that determines which squares you work with. As with C2C, you can make picture-type designs. In fact, most people do that. But I'm hoping someone (perhaps, you?) would make a design that is more neutral-- not a picture, just a nice design. As you can see, I understand the basic stitch. But I cannot come up with a nice design for it. LOL! So, I wanted to ask if you had ever done one...? Either way, I really enjoy all your videos. Thank you!
There's one thing that I can definitely say about you, 95% of your tutorials are going to be something that I've never seen before. Thank you so much for being you, Robin. A true original crochet teacher🤗❤ I hope all is well with you and the family.
A neat and unique joining. Thank you. I have been crocheting a bit over 55 years and this is an appreciated lesson. (Old dogs can Lear a couple new tricks.) BTW, your hands are so lovely and your voice is light and encouraging. Have subscribed to catch more of your work.
I love anything jayg! It’s fun watching your project grow instead of the tedious job of joining mountains of squares or whatever, at the end or getting bored and ending up with a bag of squares never to be joined lol
Thsnk you. I learned several different things. Very good. I have a flag project I have put off as they want you to sew the dark blue star area to the red/white strioed area and I didnt want to do that. Now I can finish that one easier. Thank you once again.
Daaamn girl! You just single handedly solved my issue with (not so) straight sides 😂 all my blanket attempts are "rainbowing" and that is getting me crazyyyy! Your neat "two single crochet stacked" will make my work a lot easier from now on. Thank you so very much! 🥰 (ps: loving your hands and nail polish in all the videos so far. very neat! 💅💗)
Yay! I am so glad I solved your crochet issue, always love an easier way of doing something! Thank you so much, maybe I need colourful different nails next! 😂😀
So creative and not having to stack a pile of crocheted squares to stitch together later. Thank you Robin, I’ll enjoy seeing my scraps join before my eyes.
Wow! You are a really good teacher. I’ve seen this type of blanket before and I tried to follow that person….I could not. You seemed to make this much easier to follow. Thank you so much for your patience in explaining, slowly and repeating. Your voice was firm, gentle and without impatience.. you also had excellent camera work. I could actually see where the hook should go. Thanks again. 30:42 ❤
oh this is EXACTLY what I've been looking for!! I've only been crocheting for a bit over a year, and I still have this weird habit of buying big batches of cotton yarn, with 1-2 skeins of each color just to ~see how they look~, but now I have a lot of one-off skeins that I've been wondering what to do with. Granny squares felt a bit too fiddly for a giant stash busting blanket, and I don't do well with really wide blankets that start with chains of 100+. I was wanting to make a patchwork blanket out of half double crochets or double crochets, but I didn't want to seam them all together at the end, and then along comes this video!! You're incredible!!!
You know I’ve being wanting to crochet exactly a project like this one, but didn’t know how to attach… Thank you so much for making a video on this technic 😊🧶
Love this! Years ago I found an identical blanket in a book from the 70s. I probably still have the book somewhere lol, but never made it. Now I know how and definitely will 🤩🙃and use up scraps in the process 🤗🥳⭐
So very helpful! One of the best tutorials I’ve ever seen on “join-as-you-go”. I also appreciate learning how to keep the edges nice & straight - really makes a BIG difference! Thank you Robin!
I was just thinking the same thing....this video has my mind thinking about all the problem solvers and time savers for my next gingham blanket project that I've been delaying starting...now I know why I delayed; this will solve my problems with needing use not extremely contrasting colors!!!! Thank you so much Robin!!!! You are the best❤
Thanks to your wonderful tutorial, have currently started a project using this method which I find easier and faster than the JAYG C2C and perfect for getting rid of scrap yarns. Love all your tutorials.
thank you Robin I. always love your tutorials.. I am still working on your corner to corner granny with the white border or black..always learn something. Great from you.. Your amazing teacher.. Hope you are well.... ❤💜💛💚
Thank you so much for this tutorial!!! I learn several things in it!!! I am currently working on pillow covers to compliment a queen size bed blanket I just completed. I saw a cover that consisted of 4 blocks and wasn’t sure of the cleanest way to join them…now thanks to you I do!!! Also I normally only chain 2 when doing double crochet to prevent the large gap…your way of stacking 2 singles makes it look more like a double. Just subscribed and will be binge watching to see what other tricks you can teach me after crocheting almost 60 years…how the technique’s and technology have changed!!! I’m more passionate about crochet as I was when I began this adventure always willing to learn something new!!!
Hi Ruth, I’m glad you love it.😃 This may help for your future crochet too: If you are left handed, you can convert ANY video on CZcams yourself! Simply go to www.mirrorthevideo.com/ and follow the instructions to mirror flip any video to convert to left handed.
@@HookedbyRobin thanks, I’ve done mirroring, but when it comes to listening to the video right handed joins are opposite direction and I get confused. I’ll keep trying 🧶
LOVE your site. I've crocheted FOREVER, and I learn something new all the time. Thank you. And yes, like others have observed, your voice is so soothing.
I really like the stacked singles at the ends. One can do this right from the start too instead of starting off by skipping 3 chains, just make your stacked singles when you start into the first back bump. That gives you edges that actually do look the same instead of having that disconnected 3 chain area at the start.
@@HookedbyRobin : I’ve started a project but I will make a scarf first. I love your single crochet on top of another single crochet to make strong and straight edges. Thanks Robin X
What a great way to jayg and use up all those scraps! Do you have another tutorial on how to stack stitches at the beginning of a row for other stitches besides the DC? How would you stack for a half-DC for example?
I love this! What a clever girl you are! I've been so nervous about joining as u go but you with this easy to follow tutorial of yours, I think I'll have to give it a try 🤔🤞 thank u tremendously for all your helpful videos!🐱
Thank you for the tutorial. When I first saw this video in my recommendations, I thought that it was about joining completed strips, not joining as you go. I have difficulty seaming my strips nicely, but would rather not have to join them as I go. The bulk gets difficult to manage once there are more than two strips already joined.
Thank you for this. Your tutorials are so well done and your instructions so wonderfully clear. Plus the end result is so beautifully neat. You make it a pleasure to watch. Thanks for the blessing.
4 strips in, and I just now noticed that you're joining at the bottom of the chain, and I have been joining at the top of the chain 🤣🤣 oh well lmao. It's special now
You have some of my favourite tutorials and I love this one too!! Now I just need my scrap collection to grow 😉. I’d better get busy 😆. Thank you Robin 😊
Hello there beautiful!! I always love getting the notification of your new videos. Your colors are always bright and happy, your energy is amazing, and I can always count on you to have a fantastic tutorial! Thank Robin!!! 💝
Hi Robin you keep coming up with so many impressive crochet tutorials and this is definitely one of them. Thank you so much and I can’t wait to adapt this scrap blanket theme maybe to make a bathroom rug?
As the blanket itself can look a bit crazy with all the different colours I'd opt for something very simple as a border - maybe just a few rounds of plain stitches :)
What a beautiful stash buster project! Love it! Will use it as soon as I finish my Christmas crochet projects! Love all of your tutorials! Currently enjoying making your C to C granny squares, alternated with a beautiful shawl for my "baby" sister. I have a question (NOT a criticism!) - do you ever use chainless starting rows? I've been crocheting for decades & just learned this technique last year (thank CZcams tutorials). I love it for the same reason you like to work in the back bumps of the chain. I also love it because it gives that edge elasticity, like the top row. I use it almost every time that the first row is all the same stitch. Was well worth learning! Have a wonderful summer day!
For all my personal projects I use chainless starts whenever I can yes! I much prefer it to traditional chaining - the only reason I use normal chains in my videos is for ease of teaching; often people are just learning and I discovered early on that throwing in a chainless start on top of what I was teaching was often a bit too overwhelming for people so I keep it simple for tutorials 😅 I have tutorials for the chainless starts themselves buried on my channel 😂
Thank you! That makes very good sense! I came across the option of starting this way in a few written patterns & just couldn't ever understand the written instructions on how to do it. That prompted me to look for a demonstration on CZcams when I first discovered tutorials. That's how I learn best and I have learned many new crochet techniques from tutorials. I love your tutorials for your beautiful lilting, calming voice, your very explicit patient instruction and that you always offer us optional ways of doing things that encourage us to learn and grow. Thank you very much!
