  • Weyes Blood argues that creating art, and inspiring and changing minds within her fanbase, is not enough to combat climate change. "I also try to do things that have a more direct result. I do feel like as an artist, when you create and write songs about these issues," she says, "you can get far, but I do find that we function within an echo chamber."

    You are completely and utterly right. These are critical issues that must be addressed asap. I have witnessed the deteriation of our oceans in just a few decades.

    She's a wonderful artist. Not only is her music of untouchable caliber, but her character appears to be as well. Humanity seems to forget what happens when integrity, intelligence & responsibility are not prerequisites for positions of power. Natalie understands that artists influence society. She is choosing to be a positive and healing force; and we are all the better for it.

    I made a LEGO Bernie 2020 video to help out when the campaign was going on..
    Weyes Blood is so underrated. Some of the most meaningful music I’ve heard in a long time. I really appreciate your songs and your message. I discovered your work last year and it helped me through a rough patch. Thanks for using music as a platform for to speak TRUTH. Peace!

    Also rising sea levels. I live in Virginia and I had a friend tell me about tangier islands on the eastern shore that are getting swallowed up by the rising water levels. Awareness like this helps.

    I’m a fan that is somewhat sceptical about climate change but agree with everything said. I believe ecological collapse is a more urgent emergency and climate change I see as a subset of this collapse. We could live in a world with low CO2 but if the species and plant diversity has gone what kind of world would that be.

    • @jumpingspider7105
      @jumpingspider7105 Před 3 lety +7

      Well massive greenhouse gas emmisions are accelerating the loss of biodiversity. Its all connected. CO2 absorbs infraread light (aka heat energy) preventing it from being released to space. Its just physics man. Every time you see a car drive by or turn on the light where do you think that energy comes from. Its combustion, not magic. I just don't understand the skeptisism this is just physics.

    That's a very common thing these days. Morrissey, a fascist who hates immigrants, has thousands of fans in Mexico! Climate change deniers who love Weyes Blood's music are for sure far right people, because that's the pattern. I don't know what Natalie thinks of Ariel Pink these days: he is not only a lunatic right wing boy who voted for Trump, he also appeared in Tucker Carlson's show painting himself as a victim, probably because he doesn't even have an idea of what being a victim means in a poor country. These are difficult to solve contradictions, and I am glad that Natalie is aware of them in relation to her fans.

    • @DHU11
      @DHU11 Před 4 měsíci

      One thing: Morrissey is British, and we don’t get much Latin American migrants in the UK at all. So why shouldn’t Mexicans like him? I don’t think his beef is with Latinos, lol. It’s more with the black and brown migrants in the UK - most likely from Africa, the Caribbean or Asia. And I really don’t know much Africans, Caribbeans, or Asians who care for Morrissey. 😂

    • @alohacowboy1
      @alohacowboy1 Před 2 měsíci

      Ehhhh who actually cares… left vs right is just peasantry bullshit. No different than black or white, male or female and so on. Tactics used to keep the poor divided.
