I was blessed by a client purchasing Tundra for me, because he commissioned it to be used on a score. This was not deducted from the final fee. I love it. It's nice to see that it inspires you, and that's what it's all about .

Ethan, thanks for pointing out the Soft & Wild Strings module, which I had ignored, and after seeing it here in your setup went back to and listened, and wow! Just great stuff I had lost sight of. Thanks for the comments and review here.

Love the way you expressed the emotions for this amazing library. I had the same feelings and by the way... I just bought it ;-) Excellent overview!

Tundra definitely is one of their best libraries. I was lucky to get it for just over $200 earlier this year, because it was in one of the "special" high-discount bundles Spitfire has during each major sale. I haven't really gotten much out of the brass and winds, but the strings are just achingly beautiful. Some of the synth pads are also quite nice.

The strings are definitely a highlight for me, like yourself I've not had much use for the brass or winds, I do quite like the eDNA stuff in there too, although I'd say primarily I use the Vral Evo Grid just to add some atmospherics to what I do

Very fine video. You're so enthusiast and it's so rare ! You definitely convinced me to choose and buy Albion Tundra with black friday promotion. The "Fratres" interpretation by Kirsty Mangan and the very fine composer Homay Schmitz playing Tundra library with her on CZcams is really awesome ! Thank you so much ...

Hey everyone, so it seems this video in particular blew up, I never expected so many views.
I’ve noticed a number of dislikes growing over the weeks and it’s sort of confusing, I’m by no means a decent content creator but this was never designed to be anything more than an unscripted sit down reaction video!
If you want a true in-depth review I suggest looking elsewhere, this is a very biased, very uninformative video, not a review!
Thanks so much for watching, if the views keep going up, I’ll do a full review on the library. Despite my love for it here, I rarely use it these days.
Apologies to those who don’t like the content, maybe it’s the way the video is? My voice? My personality? I can’t be too sure, either way I’d love feedback to help win you over in future.
    All the best,
    Ethan

Hey man! Great overview :) I'm a long-time synth user looking to get into sample libraries to further my compositional skills. I'm trying to pick between Albion One, BBCSO and Tundra for my first library. Albion One seems to be the 'classic' library for entry to composing, whilst BBCSO requires much more effort to get full sounds due to instruments being separated. Buuuut Tundra seems to be right up my alley in terms of the sounds I like - the Spitfire demo and this demo sound incredible to me. Even though it sounds good, do you think going with Tundra would be very limiting in terms of the types of styles you could write in?

Hi! Thanks for your comment, it's greatly appreciated.
Tundra is very much a niche product, personally I've not managed to get much use out of it, although that's more down to my own shift in compositional approaches and musical vocabulary. It's not as versatile as the other two libraries, but what it lacks in versatility, it certainly makes up for in character, capability and quality.
I own BBCSO Professional, and whilst it's great as a do-all orchestral library, it lacks a character, it's designed to just be an orchestra, there's no real substance to it, I don't really enjoy using it to compose with, nothing from it really inspires me to write. It's not a library I'd use to write music with, but more produce a finish product with. That's not to say BBCSO isn't fantastic, it's the most realistic and usable orchestral library I've come across so far, but perhaps writing for full-scale orchestra has since gone beyond the scope of what I'm interested in composing with.
Tundra is, in some ways, the opposite. I could spend all day sat browsing through the vast collection of presets, it'll almost always give me some form of inspiration to write music. Each patch is excellent in its character, although some patches can be quite difficult to use in a more melodic sense. Tundra is very much a background library, it's great under dialogue, or under synth leads, it blends beautifully with ambience. The non-orchestral patches are excellent to and can be very cinematic in their own right, it's just, well, they're presets, I've never been too keen on using presets personally, but these ones are definitely much more characterful and functional than others I've come across before.
Albion One is the do-it-all albion for film composition in a cinematic sense. It's big, it's bombastic, it's bright, powerful and in-your-face. So it's not really my thing, oddly enough. It has it's own subtleties that make it an amazing library to have, but I wouldn't have any real usage for it in my own workflow (unless I was working on an action movie, in which case, I'd use BBCSO and CSB!)
If you like the character and sound of Tundra, then by far it's an excellent investment to make, I am criminal in my underuse of it, the more people comment on this video, the more I regret not making full use of it. I'm not sure what type of synth work you're in to, but Tundra is exceptionally effective in blending with synthetic sound sources, especially ambience.
TL;DR, Tundra has the most character of the three, but the least functionality. Albion is a mix between character/functionality, and BBCSO is all functionality and no character. I'd recommend Tundra out of the three personally, like you said, there's no real effort required to get a world-class sound out of the Albions, it's just immense out of the box.
Oh, it may also be worth checking out Albion NEO, I've not had chance to buy it yet, but the fundamentals seem to be quite similar, it has a lot of character and varying ensemble sizes, as well as all of the curated presets. There's also the new Albion which was just released, but I've not even seen a walkthrough of that yet, so I can't comment.
Hope this helps! Let me know what you decide on!

My problem with spitfire libraries is when you first load a sound the volume is really low. What do you do to remedy this.

Speaking of quiet, the levels on this video are so quiet I have to max out my speakers. They are not underpowered either and other videos are much louder.

Apologies, it could have been a balancing error on my half, a lot of the samples are (expectedly ) quiet, but I’ll make sure they’re a lot more audible in future! Thanks,

@@ArkturusMusic No Spitfire Audio even says that this is an incredibly quietly mixed set of sounds. It is meant to capture literally blowing winds and the sounds of the back of the bow on the strings (which are very pretty). It's a beautiful sound set, which I'm still working out but since I'm 25% deaf, I have to crank up my sounds. I do appreciate the sounds you're getting Ethan. Great work, and no complaints here! I'm subscribing!
