From what ive seen in every battle so far is large tough creatures, greater demons etc are the most dangerous units on the field, we have nothing
like that except tanks to absorb huge incoming firepower. Points for infantry seem really high for low survivability, We used to be able to take down
most things with a good charge now infantry are struggling to take down larger tough targets.

Agree with this. Large vehicles and big name characters are some of the strongest things in the game right now.
I’m planning in adding a land raider for transport/god cannon, and a redemptor or ballistus dread, but I won’t be spamming devastators and tanks, not my playstyle as a BA player.

@@ba_commanderI think they know they designed 10th to be in favor of shooting over melee and vehicles over infantry, all to sell more vehicles under the guise of “reduced lethality” and “more survivability”. Melee chapters have been (not so) subtly defanged. We’re swiftly realizing this reality too. All the art of war pros have said melee is relatively useless to kill anything in 10th and that armies should build towards shooting.

Getting+1 to wound army wide let us punch up alot. Having to tech a character to give +1 to wound isnt the worst but you can't afford to do it 6 times in a list. Running BA in gladius I was 1-4 WL . I ran as ultras with no primarch tonight and whooped up on GK 77-32. Thunderstrikes are great.

I was gonna say, if you go to staples, my experience was they weren’t going to print for fear of copyright infringement, so I had to use some jedi powers and send them the link from GW to show they are free to dl. Still a bit of a grey area, but with some convincing should be fine if anyone encounters.
SO pumped for this vid! Been having much more success with Gladius with my space wolves, tabling two different BA players. Sadly smoking Dante & SG with ease, haha.

I'm pleased by the flexibility of being able to use differnt detachments to suit different army lists. All infantry super mobile force will suit the BA detachment. As you add in more armour or go for a more mixed/balancedlist then the gladius will shine more with its flexibility. I'm looking forward to the different detachemtns that will come with the codex, maybe an armoured detachment, perhaps a phobos/scout force, a defenseive bastion force etc

I've played a few games, and surprisingly, Dante seems to go really well with Assault Marines.
They deal MW on the charge for an average of 5MW on a squad of 10, and then getting to hit on 3's with the D2 Eviscerators was really strong in a couple of my games. One 10-man Assault Marine squad with Dante killed a Chaos Knight Desecratoe in a charge phase because of the extra AP. I might even go out and get a second Sanguinary Priest just to have one with my Van Vets AND my Assault Marines.

@@ba_commander Dante Getting AP-4 in the Assault Doctrine very much helped, and between that and the 5MW on the charge, Dante and Hammer of Wrath took off 13 wounds by themselves.
The Knight was the target of Oath of Moment, so the 5's to wound wasn't as much of a restriction as it would usually be.
The fact that Hammer of Wrath no longer cares about toughness actually makes Assault Marines kinda scary with the right support.

UNIT SUGGESTIONS to try out (imo).
I'd recommend using the Libdread giving insane mobility to your army (would also allow you to -if your opponent didnt screen well enough/ if you go second- get in your opponents deployment zone T1 which was an issue for your flex secondaries). Running assault squads with a librarian gives you ++4 AND adds 2x powerful (melta) shots to a firing deck transport (I'm using a rhino), or you add one devastator squad to it and increase the shooting even more. The land speeder storm having firing deck 6 also makes it an absolute beast for 145p: 18" D6+3 [blast] 3+ 4 0 1 + 36" 3 3+ 5 -1 2 + 48" D6 [blast, heavy] 4+ 4 0 1 / 9 -2 D6 + 36" 4 [heavy, precision] 3+ 4 -2 2. running Gladius is the way to go until they change Sons into +1 to wound.
Tl;dr: libdread, assault marines + lib + firing deck transport, scout snipers + land speeder storm.
edit: as always great informational video, keep sharing your findings people, really helps us all to figure out what works for us individually

I honestly think that Gladius is better. The +1 Strength in melee is a let down... and the fact that it only activates on the charge. Two of the strategems are the same, i'd argue whilst similar, Honour the chapter is better than Red Rampage. Also gladius has several ways of getting fall back and charge with an enhancement, Leuitenant's and Tactical doctrine. So all in all id say Gladius has better strats. The enhancements are better, they have shooting synergy and are buffed with the strategems.... i think taking SoS you are almost handicapping yourself unless your local meta, friends and tournaments are not running any shooting, armour or monsters.

  • @nukkinfuts6550
    @nukkinfuts6550 Před rokem

Centuriom Bolters are now standard on Assault Centurions and included, but with Movement 4" they really need a Librarian Dreadnought or a Land Raider to get iin there.
I still do think the Melta is to prefer, not alot of targets will fall victim of STR 4 AP 0 Dmg 1 & if you dump them out of a transport or Wings of Sanguinius them in there targets will be within +2 Melta range in many cases...
If you are that close the +3 Rapid Fire on the Bolters will tear into most light targets anyway.
3 of them fits nice with 5 footslogging DC Marines in a Redeemer, it moves 12", dismount within 3" then if we count low on a 5" Charge that would be easymode - almost impossible to fail with a Re-Roll = anywhere within 20"+ of that Land Raider would be a MASSIVE no-go-zone.
They can get an insane amount of +2 Sustained hits on Oath of Moment targets, i would be tempted to Re-Roll everything but 6`s

Always love the content John! I'm like you though, time poor lol. It will likely be late September before I am more back into the hobby, and make some lives etc. But trying to keep up on your vids so at least I have some 10th Ed theory craft ideas lol.
I am still very ambivalent about BA, there are some things I hate about BA in 10th Ed, some things ok, but also some vague potential hope.
The Gladius ability to get +1 to wound and extra -1AP to weapons? Hmmmm? A sceptical person would think GW took BAs chapter tactic and special Chaplain litany to give to all marines and gave BA... not a lot in return.... again... a sceptical person would think this😜
SG annoy me atm, sorry not sorry I still believe they should have the third wound (I'll die on a hill on that one) and even then be 30pts a model. If GW want to limit SG spam, just limit the number of units, a 5 man squad up to 1000pts, 2 5 man squads OR 1 10 man squad up to 2000pts etc.
Also the Sanguinary Priest is an odd one for me. As a Character, I think GW have actually sorted him out, his points are fine and he gives a 5+++. My issue is the 'Sanguinary' Priest can't join 'Sanguinary' Guard.... hmmm? I'm sure people will have different views but I can't see in other factions this sort of thing happening and the argument it would make SG too powerful? It's relative power to other Factions most powerful units and with the limitations to SG, maybe limit the Priest? 1 up to 1000pts up to 2 for 2000pts etc?
Dante, Dante, Dante, what a disappointment... GW are. They still have not done him justice to the Character in the lore. He should operate closer to Primarchs and other characters that don't attach, have auras but can be protected if within so many inches of a unit etc.
Generally I still have an issue with what Characters can attach to unit wise, and seeing BA Characters, Dante and Lemates aside, there are issues with all the rest... also very surprised to see... Tycho is back? In the game at least lol... why not have Moriar then 😁
The vague hope though, we are early into 10th Ed. They'll be probably 3 updates within the FAQs/Erratas/Points/Meta reviews before I even get back into the hobby lol and the big one, it will be a while before we see our Codex. This may fix some of the equipment and detachment rules issues as well as some of the units. I mean from a business perspective if GW actually want to sell anything they need to make it powerful enough on release, so maybe? But I will never hold our any hope with GW, especially when it comes to BA lol
A 10th Ed list is still a bit far away for me. Not having practice at the game itself and seeing how other armies play I don't think I could put anything good together. Having said that, from the very little I know and what I have seen from your vids, I look at it from a 3 tier approach to a list now, fast light infantry with a lot of attacks to deal with chaff, some objectives and screens etc, heavy infantry/melta to deal with Elite enemy infantry and armour to deal with armour. So seems reasonable a list needs all of this and likely at least 2 sets of each at least. The more relaxed army structure does help though, and just from what I have seen, seems possible to fit Dante, a Sang Priest, a Leader in Termie armour, Lemartes, a Libby Dread, 5 SG, 5 Jump DC, 10 Jump VVs, 5 Termies, a DC Dread and a Land Raider for less than 2000pts, but not much utility left with 50pts ish admittedly?

Death company dreads are my favourite thing we have this edition, I don't bother with a chaplain my 5 man death company squads with jump packs, Inferno pistols and powerfists and my death company dreads are purely threat removal, they are all so good and don't really need character support. Lemartes is good but he's almost the cost of another 5 man jump pack death company squad. Don't forget this edition if you table your opponent you win anyway and oc doesn't mean shit in that situation.
