- John Morgan went to George Square in the centre of Glasgow to ask passers by about all things Haggis. He speaks to people who love and hate the dish and attempts to get the bottom of the matter of what a Haggis actually is.
Originally broadcast on 1 September, 1960.

Went to Aberdeenshire a while back and tried haggis. It was only a small amount. I didn't mind it, it was nicely seasoned. However, couldn't eat it all the time as I'm not a fan of offal.
Have you ever eaten sausage?
As the saying goes "There are two things you should never know how they're made, laws and sausages...". We can now add a third to that lol.
Crap jokes aside, good quality haggis is absolutely gorgeous and has so many flavours to it. But normally the haggis we get presented with in even the higher-end supermarkets like M&S is pretty bland and grim.
I’m English through and through however I eat haggis at least once a month, no kidding it’s delicious!
The problem I have with haggis is the variable quality, I have had some really good ones and some absolutely awful ones.
Looks like George Sq Glasgow where the initial interviews take place....the year when my parents were married!
Not had haggis for quite a while
I’ve not met anyone who tasted haggis for the first time and didn’t like it tbh
It’s is good
I like haggis, it’s offally good.
I struggled a little understanding the dialog, but nowhere near as much as youtube's generated captions!
i love a haggis
1:38 kernel sanders 😂
that first interview has to be a piss take haaa
Bit of a drama queen 😂
Please Google/view on YT, the song called "How Many Legs Has A Haggis."
Today is Christmas Day, 2023 and my Christmas Dinner has Haggis as the starter. I put my menu to the vote and it came up 'tops' for a starter. It will, of course, be washed down with Irn Bru or a good Single Malt Whisky. I eat haggis at least once a week and even quite like the vegetarian haggis - now that's saying something for a Scot!
The first bloke is blatantly taking the piss.
It has the flavour of liver or pate really. If you like these, you'll probably like haggis
HAGGIS? NO THANKS!
BATTERED HAGGIS? YES PLEASE ;)
Now I'm aware of that nasty haggis as well 😄
It tastes of iron, guess it's the blood, reminds me of black pudding
bs black pudding doesn't taste of iron
It tastes of liver and pepper and oats
The first guy on the screen.
I was thinking, why does he sound like Alfred Hitchcock. I googled it and it turns out Alfred was a God damned Englishman.
I'm 50 years old, I always thought he was just a funny talking American.
Turns out he was English this whole time! And now I've said turns out twice and ruined the comment.
Except this guy is Scottish. Posh Scottish, but Scottish nonetheless
John Morgan, the reporter, was Welsh so both you and davidlittle are wrong.
@@stephenspence1192 LOL...I should know better, being Scottish. Sounds bog all like Hitchcock tho obvs
@@davidlittle7182 Yes , absolutely nothing like Hitchcock.
A haggis is a real animal. Don't believe anything else.
And people wonder why the BBC is disliked in Scotland? - imagine doing a feature on another country's dish in this patronising manner and being surprised at the reaction !
They look down on anywhere outside London and the Home Counties
To quote Sean Connery in Highlander: "How revolting!"
A haggis is like a woman, you can either understand it or love it, but never both
