Zoe Saldana, Dascha Polanco, and many other Latinas/os are black. Black doesn't = only African American. Black is black and is being of African ancestry. If Dascha wasn't Latina, or "foreign", and you looked at her, would you not think she was a mixed or light skinned black woman? That's exactly what she is, and that has nothing to do with her also being Hispanic. You don't have to be just one or the other. How do you think Hispanics came about? We are mixed with African (black), Spanish (white), & indigenous people (brown). & many others, like West & East Asian, Irish, etc. Some Latinos are white or more white, others are black, or mixed. I say all that to say, let's not say "they should've casted a real black woman"... Zoe is a real black woman. The problem, imo, is skin tone. I'm sure there are more than enough actresses with Nina's skin tone who could've played the role amazingly. Why hire someone and darken their skin with makeup?

One of my closest friends are Dominican and she considers herself to be black as well because a lot of them are. The Dominican Republic had really huge slave ports. The people of the Caribbean are all the same. The only difference is the people who conquered you (Spanish, English, French, or Caribbean) and how often the people interacted with their colonizers and Native Americans sexually. Just like I am from Jamaica and I am black she is from the Dominican Republic and she is black.
This sister is of Afrikan and Indigenous South American heritage. Of course you can see the Spanish slave master gene in there but it's minimal.

People's issues with Zoe playing Nina wasn't that she is Latina, wtf if Angela talking about. There are plenty of African American women who resemble Zoe. The issue is that there are plenty of talented actors who actually favor Nina that would have been better suited for the part -- in terms of looks and also in terms of acting.
