Quickjack BL-7000TLX - Portable Lift Setup and First Impression

  • After some thought, I purchased the Quickjack BL-7000EXT lift. I wanted to stick with something portable so it wouldn't clog up any working areas in my shop. I think it will be a great asset to not only my business, but also working on my personal vehicles. This isn't meant to be a "how to assemble" video, but more of a first impression look at the lift. Hope this helps.

Awesome. Thank you very much. I will now order one for my BMW 340i 2022 model. The car has no dip stick. BMW say oil change in 20,000 miles or 2 year interval. What ever comes first.
I change my oil every 5,000 miles. Therefore I have ordered a Quickjack so I can get under my car and change the oil every 5,000 miles.
    I live in United Kingdom.
    Thank you for your demonstration.

When using the supplied liquid thread sealant, or Loctite 545, let it cure for at least 24 hours. or they may leak. Teflon tape can get stuck in the quick-connects and cause a leak, too. That's why you always start at the second thread.

@@JsAutoDetailing Yeah, I have the factory leaf springs on mine. My truck has a 3" RC leveling kit, blocks in back, new knuckles in front. I do have quickjack, it's kind of a hassle to set up, I don't have a lot of garage space (We Never Do). QJ works Great on my C6 and CR-V but the Silverado will take some thinking because the way the frame goes up to the bed and the gas tank location. Aaand I still put jackstands or blocks under tires when using the QJ, especially if I'm going to be completely underneath the vehicle. My project on my truck coming up is control arm bushings (they Creak), new Dirt King alignment cams and new springs to try and get rid of Chevy Lean. Maybe put steal braided brakelines all the way around and air shock in back...Truck's got ~40K miles on it and Zero rust (I live in the desert).

I have the TL and I'd say it's ok, but only if you're lucky and get one without a defective air cylinder. If you do get one of those you're screwed - the company will 100% not stand behind their product. They'll claim the air-assist down isn't "necessary to the function of the lift". Really? So if one side has air assist down and the other doesn't, and they drop unevenly, that's safe? And then when the vehicle drops to the ground and one side of the lift goes straight to the full down position while the other... doesn't. You need to wait... and wait... and wait for it to drop with no weight on it. Quickjack will claim this "is normal operation" and that "it will get better over time". If you invest a massive amount of time trying to get them to stand behind their product they will, eventually, after burning through every once of customer goodwill, send out a new cylinder. Yay! Until you get the replacement and the freakin' air side is literally capped off. Like intentionally made unusable. That's not a fix guys. Then they'll claim that the engineers decided the down-assist wasn't necessary and that they've changed the design on future models. But I didn't buy a future model with less functionality. I bought the current model with exactly the functionality I wanted, was promised, and paid for. Whatever. Too much time wasted on it already - I've written off the entire company as another skanky marketing hack with no integrity.
I still have it in my shop, but the company worked very hard to make me regret my purchase and it low-key pisses me off every time I look at it. And honestly the setup is inconvenient enough that even when I do pull it out - warts and all - it happens very rarely. Only when I have a longer term project where I know the vehicle will be on the lift for a week or two. Definitely not for things like oil or tire changes. It's just way quicker to use a floor jack.

I used it to lift my General. It's actually the first thing I tried it out on when I first got it. Being that mine is a 4 seater, I was able to fit the Quickjacks lengthwise between the wheels. You can also turn the jacks horizontally to lift as well. As long as they are parallel to each other it would work.

The only thing is that you can't just put them away as easily, but you can drive over them every time and so leave them where they are.

    Nice truck!!
I like these. I also have a 4 post lift,,,,, 4 of them actually. 3 are just basic for storage. I have the 4th one with jacks front and rear also part of the hydraulic system so you can lift the wheels off the ramps for tire/suspension work. I don’t like it for this and have a 2 post lift as well. I do the work on MY vehicles on the 2 post. Because my shop is really nice, not unlike yours, just larger (you have to really love those drains!! Eh?), my buddies use it as well. I am fine with this and have a separate area in the shop set up with a fairly detailed set of tools, pullers etc. some have had the nerve to grumble a bit about not wanting to go through the hassle to get the wheels lifted off the ground. Some too much and they lost their privileges, but some were respectful about it. I am not getting a second 2 post as it takes up too much space because the 4 post they use is bolted to the floor so I would be taking up another bay.
I have ordered a 7000lb QuickJack like yours for the gals & guys to use for suspension and tire work. They can use it outside whenever the weather is good and inside otherwise. They are mostly quite excited. Some still want a 2 post and are in danger of having access to nothing (this is when you learn who are your friends and who are the sycophants 😂😂. Nice way to weed the sycophants out!!). I think the working height is perfect for using a rolling stool and there’s a rolling tool cart for them to use as well. They will still do their oil changes, and major work with the 4 post of course, but these will be handy and easy to use. 5-10 minutes and you are in the air!
Thanks for your perspective on the detailing aspect!! I have a few show and shines each year at our acreage and guys like coming over to get ready!! It’s a fun way to hang out and I’m only there 70% of the time!! Haha. I like fishing as well!! In fact I think this for detailing is even better than the 2 post! No towers to have to work around,,,,,.
Oh yeah!! I control the tunes, then my wife, if I’m not there when she is (if she even cares) then they have more free reign. Country is forbidden to be played through MY speakers!!! 😂😂😂. I think this was seriously violated a few times!! 😂😂. B*stards!! Eh!

I wanted the 2 post, but settled for these. My garage has only a 10.5ft ceiling so a 2 post would get the car to a height that is about a foot too short to work comfortably under not to mention my floor would need to be repoured for pads. Builder concrete likely way less than the 4" requirement.

Hey man its been a year since you made this video, can you give me an update? Is it worth the money? Any issues?

No issues at all here. I've definitely been getting a lot of use out of them. Mostly for detailing vehicles, but a few times I broke them out for oil changes and tire rotations and general maintenance on my own personal vehicles.
For my use with detailing, I can say they have been worth the money. Saving me from laying on the floor to buff lower sections of vehicles and also pulling wheels to ceramic coat them.
I'm completely satisfied with the purchase, they are super easy to set up under a vehicle too!!
