When I first watched one of your podcasts,I remember thinking, General Grant would be more formal than this man in speech . After studying much more history I learned that General Grant was indeed a modest, clear speaker( having now read his memory). Now, I can't wait to watch you portray him each time I get the chance. Thank you sir for your work.
Grant actually talked a lot less then this guy. He only spoke what was absolutely necessary and no more. Because Sherman could read Grants mind, it appeared that there was more dialogue between them, then there actually was.
@@DA-bp8lf yep, it's like the classic quote between the two generals at Shiloh: "Well, Grant, we've had the devil's own day of it, haven't we?" Sherman said. "Yes," replied Grant. "Lick 'em tomorrow, though"
I especially enoyed this talk about about General Sherman, because I really knew very little about some of his personal qualities, which you clarify, in his objections to your plans, but his devotion to carrying them out, as though they were his own. You do a wonderful job of staying in character and are very convincing in your portrays of U.S. Grant. Please do more. Thank you!
I have never heard of this, though I know He ran the River having painted his ships black. Thanks, this is wonderful. I sat enthralled listening but for a minute or two, being I am not well ..
He mentions several times the Army of the Tennessee. This was a Union Army mostly made up of men for the west. It was an Army that never knew defeat. It was like Grant himself. A group of determined men that were ready to fight for the Union and win. This Army was born in 1861, even though it was not described as the Army of the Tennessee until much later. By the end of the war this Army would march clear across the country.
Another wonderful recollection - thank you General :) .
Iam a Grant historian. I’d like to thank you for getting all the facts correct. Lots of rumors and lies surrounding this great man.
I discovered this series a week ago and it is wonderful and the man portraying Grant is an interesting actor.
