Never forget when he came back from that acl injury. People said he was done. Proceeded to win mvp, lead his team to the playoffs & come within a few yards for the all time season rushing record. Gotta respect greatness.
And that was back when ACL injuries were a death stamp for your career. Greatest football season I ever watched. Also was the season peyton destroyed the NFL I'm pretty sure.
I remember that season. He was just over 1000 yards with 5-6 games left in the season and needed to average 140+ each game to break the 2000 yard mark and he freaking did it!
Yea he was literally the first athlete in a major sport to have that injury and come back to do something like that. There had been guys who recovered and came back but were shells of their former self. We also have to give credit to his doc who also became a superstar in the sports medicine world after that. His procedures are now the standard.
Agreed....If they had better quaterback play in the postseason, they would have made at least the NFC title game that season..

The only person I could say might be more explosive is Bo Jackson and that’s something something cause Peterson is my favorite back of all time
He’s at full speed in two or three steps. The fact that he’s moving full speed so quickly makes him look like he’s not running that fast in the open field and then all of a sudden he’s burning everybody .
Watching Adrian Peterson while growing up a Vikings fan was one of the best ways to grow up
Can't disagree. I grew up watching Randy, and that was amazing. He'll always be my favorite Viking, but I'll always love AD.
Unfortunately he shouldn't have stayed, you guys wasted him mostly. Although used is really better word than waste. He deserved a super bowl.

I started watching NFL in 2007 after joining my school’s middle school team. Man what great timing!
This man is bar none the most god given talented RB in history. Speed like Barry Sanders. Power like Bo Jackson. How quickly he could reach top speed is ridiculous.
He's the most completed RB I've seen. Can you imagine if he wasn't fumbling the ball that much. I guess every greats need an achilles.
I said same thing on him on Barry short. I love Barry & Bo was great but Peterson speed with strength was unreal.

Nikk Carroll yeah for me it’s him and LT. AP is the best pure runner and LT is the best all-around. Some people would say Faulk, but LT was a superior runner.
To me that is the ultimate AP run. Get to see all of his skills in one run.

@@ChiefMomentum they may not have seen him play. He retired in the 80s. You would have to be in your 40s at least to remember watching him. Highlights is one thing but watching a whole game is different.
I see people making all sorts of lists on here. Most of them dont take anything into consideration except stats.
Jim brown was great against inferior competition. Very similar player to peterson minus the track speed.
Bo was a little better, but AP’s done it for soo long now

I remember us picking AP and remembering that first game against the Falcons. You could just tell he was gonna be good. Can truly say I saw one of the best running backs this generation will ever see. It's too bad we could never capitalize on his great years. Will forever be one of my favorite players.

I really hope AP comes back strong, and has another 3-4 great seasons before he retires. He's ran for nearly 12,000 yards and scored over 100 TD's in essentially only 8 seasons. He's on a different level when healthy.

I loved watching this guy growing up as a teenager. I loved when you saw his head start bucking when he was going hard. Looked like a damn stallion going full force.
He was def the best back of his generation. No doubt the best I’ve seen in my life as a 21 year old.

Peterson deserved so much more out of his time in Minnesota. It's such a typical Viking move to waste a generational talent during their prime by having them cary a mediocre team year in and year out..
everyone knew what he meant to the organization. he WAS the vikings and thats another reason he will go down as one of the goats
I'm gonna get flamed for this but Peterson did have a shot at a super bowl and ended up fumbling 3 times in the NFC championship. Not saying that loss was all on him as they still had a chance late until Favre threw that terrible INT but AD really did himself no favors that game.

He really made the defenders look like they were in slow motion . Some of those cuts look wrong at first but then he accelerates instantly and somehow squeezes his massive frame through the holes before the defense can react

Other than having a significantly better o-line and MAYBE a SLIGHTLY BETTER QB, I can't see how the Raiders have possibly a better chance of winning the Super Bowl and the Seahawks do.
Seattle has the better defense hands-down. Seattle also takes the edge with their receiving corpse consisting of Doug Baldwin, Jimmy Graham, and Tyler Lockett over Amari Cooper and Crabtree.The loss of Latavius Murray is also going to hurt their run game. Seattle suffered its worst season of the year in terms of running the ball, because their two best running back's(Rawls,Prosise) combined to miss 17 games.They can add someone like AP,Jamaal Charles,or even Eddie Lacy to help bring back their aggressive run style.Seattle also plays in the easier division and they are a battle tested team that know how to win in the playoffs
AP is much more likely to sign with a team that has been title contenders for the past 5 years,rather than a young inexperienced team that has been good for one season.

A lot of people don't realize that the year he came up 7 yards short of the record, he was on limited touch count for the first 6 games because he was coming off the knee injury. He could've shattered the record.
I remember that year too. He should have had the record but instead the vikings decided to call a pass play with a few seconds left to get the first down in a game that was already decided.

As a halfback of 14 years myself I can promise there’s so much more to running the ball than what’s quantifiable and Adrian Peterson is the best halfback ever.
His vision, his ball IQ, his ability to change direction in an instant, his willingness to make big hits and take big hits, and above all else he was just an unbelievable play maker.
Other guys have had some better stats, but that’s meaningless to me because every player at every position has totally different circumstances. Plenty of other dudes have had better 40 times, and again that’s totally meaningless when most of them couldn’t do anything with that speed.
AP really made magic happen and this is coming from a life long Green Bay fan. I remember growing up I’d be so nervous and excited every time it was GB vs MN lol, because I loved my Packers unconditionally but as a halfback, Adrian was my idol I worshipped that dude and there was nothing more I wanted than to be able to do the things he could do. He inspired me and a whole generation of young men to work like we’d never worked before.
Can we give some love to T Jackson (#7 QB) from Vikings. RIP to him, he was never an elite QB but he did do his thang in some games. Plus he was All Days QB for a few years before the Farve trade
