- This song combines two pleasures of my youth - watching cliffhanger serials on Saturday morning TV (Flash Gordon, Western thrillers, Dudley Do-Right), and hearing the songs of Leiber and Stoller. They wrote such funny songs as Yakety Yak, Poison Ivy, Little Egypt, Love Potion No. 9, Charlie Brown, Young Blood, and this one, mostly sung by the Coasters. They also wrote Kansas City, Hound Dog, Stand By Me, Jailhouse Rock, and Strollin', among many, many others. The Righteous Brothers have a ball with these Perils of Pauline, and Bill Medley is especially funny. This track appeared on the LP 'Sayin' Somethin,' though the running time is listed as only 2.45 instead of 3.21.
