i believe people can change, that’s what sobriety is, and rehabilitation, and mental health treatment- humans are morally ambiguities by nature, some put in the effort to change and some sadly do not, but giving grace to yourself & others (within reason) can really encourage growth
but the concept of “second chances” depends on the severity of the wrongdoing, my own moral framework, and their actions demonstrating change
plus you can cut someone off from your life and still hope that they’ll change. if someone’s hurt me I won’t compromise my own well-being to try & help them change. but i always hope that they learn from the guilt, heal their wounds and treat others better
I don’t know what happens after death, but I can’t believe in an after life until there’s tangible viable evidence- I assume there isn’t an afterlife so I can appreciate everything I experience now. Life is beautiful and interesting, but if it was endless I’d lose my marbles
we all lie, i mean, the majority of us. there’s more intense lies like deception and betrayal, but the average person tells lies 1-3 time a day. “i like your dress” “the drive was fine” “no it’s fine that you didn’t do the dishes” we lie to avoid pain, humans have a hedonistic nature. sometimes we tell lies without being fully conscious of it. nobody wants to consider themselves a liar- but it’s more the severity of the lie that holds moral ground than lying itself
