"You'll be surprised how many guitar players can't play a triad, and everything's a major seven" You are a book full of good phrases, and, may I add, keyboard players too!
Jimmy! Been a fan since meeting you at one of those long Island Guitar Shows.... could have been close to 40 years ago now (?) You keep on being you! You're awesome*
Dear Mr. Bruno, As a younger guitar player (rising college freshman), I your lessons are a breath of fresh air compared to what you typically find on CZcams. As I find myself working on chord melody, I've discovered this lesson and many of your previous lessons to be very helpful; listening to your records has also impacted my playing for the better. Thanks for everything you do, and I won't dare share this on Facebook!
here is a tip....find Jimmy's video he made for Hotlicks. "No nonsense jazz guitar". I have it in DVD (originally came on VHS, yup, that it has been around a while!)...BUT it is FULL of great info. and he keeps it in a language you can understand! well worth the investment!
Jimmy, been playing the guitar since the 7th grade. Mostly rock, always wanted to learn jazz guitar in your style. I havent played in probably 15 years, you've gotten me practicing every day now. Thank you! finally a method and layout that makes sense to a simple guy like me. Also, agree with your facebook sentiments. Hooyah
Using different voicings the second time through is my next goal. Once I learn the song one way I'm scared of getting confused and screwing things up. I'll make an attempt. I really enjoyed the camp. Thanks for being there. 😊
😂😂you’re not getting any crap from me Jimmy! 😂😂 I LOATHE prickerburg, deFaceBook just as much! I’m with you buddy. Love your playing, lessons, stories, humor, all that. Thanks for the lesson, music, laughs.
Very good information! Glad I caught you in a good mood...lol! Frank Vignola is at the top of my list of favorite jazz guitarist as are you. You two work great together. I am NOT a Facebook fan and have to say I agree with your rant. Looking forward to your next video! Twang...🎸
Aww, thanks man, I’m touched! I was at Jersey camp last week, and were having fun telling stories and jokes and suddenly the hour ended and he never even got to the end of the A of this tune. Can’t wait to hear the bridge
Jimmy, thanks so much for all your lessons. Really appreciate them. I work on the five positions of fingering daily. If you get a chance, please finish the melody part the second half of the misty song, if you did already I just haven’t found it on the Internet. Thanks again. It’s appreciated.
Facetiousness aside, something you said in a recent interview really made me change my perspective. I think it was that Jazz Guitar Today channel? You were talking about the perils of the music business and how you wish you had another 'skill' besides music. I have a day job, I've been working on an album in my off-hours, but damn it's tough (like you said,....its WORK!). Many times I wanted to quit so I could focus on my 'craft'/woodshed all day, aka be like you. But seeing that interview made me realize, the grass is always greener on the other side. Wes had multiple day jobs and was a family man (maybe that even made him more motivated?), but regardless, I do think there is a lack of discipline in modern life that can absolutely be destroying to a man's goals. Thanks to Prickerburg. It just so happens we're in a time right now where Nerds are ruling the world because computers have taken over... Also making/recording music in front of a computer is absolutely infuriating and stressful at times...just, seriously, thank you for everything you do. And believe me, you are appreciated by us. We NEED you...just to know, what is possible with dedication, the skies a man can reach...without great musicians like yourself, what can inspire someone like me? Nothing makes me dream or feel inspired more than listening to wonderful guitarists...please keep posting your wisdom here, we need it. We need something we can aspire to, to know what beauty a human is capable of. If there was more beauty and more real innovative culture, maybe we wouldn't be in the clusterfuck we are in today.
hey jimmy i heard you for the first time the other week( Villanova University 2002), I had to scape my floor off the jaw your chops are unreal, been listening to your record 'burnin' heaps and its fucking killer man! thankyou
I doubt you ever read these, but I can see why you were a sought after guitar player. Magic, still! And a fucking laugh a minute. Live long and prosper good sir. I hate to say it, you miserable old git 😅[I'm one too, but I can't play like you 😢], but you're a national treasure mate. Or you bloody well should be.Thank you sir. [For everything].
Best teacher of jazz guitar on the planet . Learning Jimmies fingerings is the key ,just my opinion but I did have a lesson with him and he is a genius .
Jimmy, thanks for all of your videos. Wish I had discovered you earlier. I like how you boil it down and get rid of the unnecessary BS. I am trying to pick guitar back up after 30 years, basically starting from scratch again. I broke out my old Mickey Baker book and bought your 6 Essential Fingerings book (lesson 1 right). Misty is the tune I started trying to learn 30 years ago so I guess I will start with that one again. Any other recommendations to get started?
Totally agree with your opinion on really busy chord melodies. Sound like shit i reckon. I've always hit it from the same angle as you. Cheers and thanks.
@@brunoonlineschool7527yeah,if you were born in 55' like my aunt, you were probably 13 when Coltrane passed away in '68.Anyway they're both from Philadelphia,so I heard and they are some of my favorite musicians,I'm 52from Indianapolis and play because of Wes Montgomery and I am extremely into Holdsworth 🤗🐼♥️✝️💐
Never used Facebook for the very reasons you state. The incentives have nothing to do with a sense of community. It is all about making as much money as possible no matter how ignorantly it creates division.
Hi Jimmy. This is Robert from camp. I'm looking for a link so I can send you money without going through Paypal. LMK if I can go directly from my debit card to you. Thanks Jimmy.
Very helpful. I've played over fifty years now and never stopped learning.

That was a great lesson you gave on Misty at Big Jersey Guitar Camp last week, I was lucky to be there, but you remade it here for all of us! Thanks.

Thumbs up for facebook rant alone. I agree, what a garbage platform it is. The lesson was a nice bonus.
Very nice approach, will work on it! Thanks for the video. God bless
I like the way those melody notes contribute to movement or swing and that makes it feel great. Thanks. Beautiful song on many levels.
love your styl you are not tip toeing through this life your the man
I'm a millenial and I have been listening to you since I was in my mommy's womb!

Where can i see/hear this camp with vignola? u two are legendary together
You’re fucking awesome
Your first 40 seconds could be a jazz rap, if you just repeat those things a couple times each and accompany them with random chords
If I could play like that I’d never leave the house. Wouldn’t get anything done.
Right? 😂 cheers🎉

Ok. I'll go back and look at the lesson 1 video. Thanks for setting me straight. @@brunoonlineschool7527
I think I figured it out. Pitch collections starting on the 2,3,5,6,7 degree of the major scale. Alway start on 6th string and go in order. Thanks.
Where can I find a bridge to this song ?
