While the new snappy style production and shorter videos make sense for growth, I miss the old longer videos where Stu would talk about instruments for a long time. I still go back to watch his Kawaii K200 and all his Estonia vids. Hope you guys let him yap a little more in the future.
Thank you for the feedback! As you can imagine, it gets difficult to find the sweet spot. Sometimes, viewers state that the videos are too long and ask us to be more succinct and pithy. Our production team is always working hard to get our format dialled in as best as possible though. :)

For sure! The new Casio line-up is seriously impressive. They have wonderful piano samples and very rewarding actions. I think Casio is winning on the aesthetics front in a lot of cases too. They are making very attractive looking portable and console digital pianos. :)
Thanks for the review. So many choices! My friend's child (7 years old) is starting piano lessons and is looking for a piano suitable for formal training. Her budget is $3000. In Australia, the Casio AP s450 retails around $2500 while the Casio AP550 retails around $2999. Before the Casios came out, my friend is leaning towards a Kawai CA 401 in that price range. What is your opinion regarding the 2 Casios vs the Kawai CA 401?
You're very welcome! The APS450, AP550, and CA401 models are all amazing pianos that offer excellent cost-to-value ratios. The choice comes down to the one's musical preferences. The Casio pianos have a brighter tonal profile and a lighter touch (still fully-weighted though). The CA401 has a warmer tonal profile and heavier touch.
I have just realized that format of the reviews changed in 2024 - they are much shorter (10 min or so). Gone are very comprehensive and long reviews that I learned so much from. The current reviews are just basic product information videos. Michael

You compared the AP-550 with the AP-450, but wouldn't the AP-550 be the replacement for the AP-470? I understood that Casio had already replaced the AP-450 with the AP-470.
The APS450 and AP550 both have some overlap with the AP470 predecessor, but neither is an exact update to the AP470 in the same sense that the PXS1100 is the clear successor to the PXS1000. The APS450 and AP550 are both unique offerings with completely different cabinet designs.
When is Casio going to team with Pianoteq and create a create great portable action and computer to combine with Pianoteq.? It could use an embedded Linux system which would just boot up the piano. but also have support for various monitors.
That would be an interesting collaboration! Perhaps, some type of collaboration between a VST company and a piano manufacturer is in the cards for the future. :)
Line out means that you're capturing an audio signal directly from the tone engine (essentially the CPU of the piano) opposed to from the onboard speakers.
We would REALLY appreciate your doing a current review of a current Mason and Hamblin BB (7') Grand. We're out comparing pianos and are VERY interested in what the latest composite ACTION feels like, and what you think about this piano's current TONAL quality. We will be living in a high humidity seaside area and the "inert" action is very appealing -- if the tonal quality is terrific. Please consider doing this! Thank you.

I switched to Casio after using Roland products for over 20 years. I love the action and the samples, very playable instruments.
