When she murdered her ex husband (whatever his name is) is to protect Ginny from getting SA’d like she did from her step father growing up and with the murder with Tom it was because she saw how it was affecting Cynthia and recently Cynthia had helped her get away from Gil (I think that’s the name of Austin’s dad). It’s a twisted way of helping people and as we know Georgia is a twisted person and this comes from the years abuse and assault she had to deal with as a kid/teen. I can understand both. This reminds me of that one episode of Steven Universe Future. Greg’s parents didn’t give him any freedom, so he gave Steven too much, which backfired. Georgia and Greg aren’t perfect but they’re trying their best. Ginny and Steven don’t understand that yet because they’re going through something and there attention is focused on themselves. To the people saying Ginny just wants issues and attention are doing more harm than good. Children with similar problems look at shows like this to relate, especially in the self-harming aspect. Saying “it’s not that serious” can make them feel like what they’re going through is dumb and a waste of time.

This is such an important moment in the show because even though Ginny is a jerk, a lot of that is because of how she was raised. Georgia loved her kids and tries to do her best, but she overcompensates for her childhood trauma by not giving Ginny boundaries, which causes Ginny to act out for attention. This is a very common thing with kids who have parents that care more about being their friend

I can relate with her about the punishment thing because when you do something wrong, you can feel like you NEED to be held accountable for your actions to take responsibility, this is why she SH. That is exactly what happened in this scene. This scene broke my heart honestly watching that episode. and then to see the hate comments on this depressed child is sickening. This scene explains exactly what their relationship is like.
Its not that she probably feels as though she doesn’t have someone in her life that cares enough to punish her. Sometimes punishment is a good thing. Bc it shows that that person cares about you.
I feel like the main reason why the relationship between Georgia and Ginny is so strained is because of communication. Communication is key in any relationship if u want it to be healthy and happy, but Georgia has her secrets and Ginnny hides her real feelings and thoughts. If Ginny doesn’t display her feelings more, of course Georgia will be oblivious to how she really feels and how mentally traumatised Ginny is. Georgia is understandable as why she keeps secrets (trauma,ptsd, wanting to protect her children’s innocence), but she needs to talk with Ginny, or she will never be able to fix her relationship with Ginny. Both of them need to have a long, long talk to figure out their problems and discomforts. Possibly set some boundaries.

Istg 90% of you are missing the point of Ginny as a character. She doesn't want mommy issues so bad, she's an accurate depiction of a teenager learning about her family's past, more specfically her mother who she has trusted her whole life to tell her about her hardships. Not to mention she is struggling with mental health and social issues within her friend group. To me she is an accurate image of a teenager, and I love that about this show.

I feel like no one here remembers being an angsty teenager. I can relate to Ginny on SOME levels. Obviously Georgia went through all that trauma at a young age but Ginny has experienced a different kind of trauma that Georgia doesn't know how to relate to and by forbidding Ginny from going to Therapy, she has to bottle up her feelings as anything she could say to her mom would make things worse. I can relate with her about the punishment thing because when you do something wrong, you can feel like you NEED to be held accountable for your actions to take responsibility, this is why she SH. Everyone says that Georgia is the better person because Ginny is a brat but do you know how awful it feels to be lied to by your own mother? And with serious situations like murder, Ginny could feel really unsafe being in a household with someone capable of murder meaning that she can develop trust issues. I think Ginny gets a bad rep but most of the time she is misunderstood. I'm saying she is 100% innocent but she needs a bit more credit.

I feel like the main reason why the relationship between Georgia and Ginny is so strained is because of communication. Communication is key in any relationship if u want it to be healthy and happy, but Georgia has her secrets and Ginnny hides her real feelings and thoughts. If Ginny doesn’t display her feelings more, of course Georgia will be oblivious to how she really feels and how mentally traumatised Ginny is. Georgia is understandable as why she keeps secrets (trauma,ptsd, wanting to protect her children’s innocence), but she needs to talk with Ginny, or she will never be able to fix her relationship with Ginny.
Both of them need to have a long, long talk to figure out their problems and discomforts. Possibly set some boundaries.

Ngl I thought Ginny had a point here. I always thought kids who haven’t been punished for big things mostly end up struggling as an adult bc they don’t know how to make the right choices. It depends on both the kid and the parent really, some kids may find it easier to understand if their parents just sit them down and have a long talk than get yelled at. (I understand better by being yelled at bc my brain says doing this is a big no no)

Ok so as someone who has exclusively watched this show through yt shorts, I’m really confused on why people say Ginny is trying to get mommy issues. She DOES have mommy issues. Her mom literally murdered someone, that’s horrifying. Even if she did it for ginny, I would still be horrified knowing that my own mother is capable of murder.
P.s I don’t think I like Ginny that much so don’t get the idea that I do. Just saying that she does have mommy issues

Istg 90% of you are missing the point of Ginny as a character. She doesn't want mommy issues so bad, she's an accurate depiction of a teenager learning about her family's past, more specfically her mother who she has trusted her whole life to tell her about her hardships. Not to mention she is struggling with mental health and social issues within her friend group. To me she is an accurate image of a teenager, and I love that about this show.
I cannot stand the Ginny haters. Ginny and Georgia both have their issues and they both have their reasons for those issues. That’s the whole dynamic of this show. They learn from each other. Georgia had Ginny when she was a child herself, so in a way, they’re growing up together.

I love this show because not only does it excellently protray the secrets of Georgia it's very real about Ginny's struggles as a result of that secrecy. I feel like no one here remembers being an angsty teenager. Learning about the world and learning that adults don’t know wtf they’re even doing, and learning your place in this new reality that is real life.
We’re all frustrated with Ginny, but I’m sure my mom was frustrated with me when I got out of bed at 16 y/o with an attitude from hell. And then I grew out of that. Learned more. Gained an understanding.
They show that well in this show. Just bc you don’t like the main character doesn’t mean you can’t take something away from the story being told.
