gorgeous 2004 Epiphone Les Paul Elite Made in Japan. Very heavy guitar. They are reported to be made to Gibson specifications including electronics. A stunning guitar.

beautiful guitar.
they are very well crafted instruments. i got lucky and picked up a 2003 Les Paul Custom Elite. i cam compare it to several custom shop Gibsons i have owned and played!

I happen to have three of these. A 2002 Standard Plus in Honeyburst, a 2002 Custom in Wine Red and a 2004 Standard Plus in Faded Cherryburst. These do not have Gibson USA components other than the pickups, and those were made to Epiphone specs by Gibson Musical Instruments, not necessarily Gibson models. The A5 magnets give these guitars a crisp attack. The pots, switch, bridge, tailpiece and knobs are all metric, but of high quality. The pots are Noble and are mechanically the smoothest pots I've ever felt on a guitar, but the volumes are linear tape; I prefer audio tape volume pots. The switches are also smooth and feel better, to me, than Switchcraft. I don't know what jack is in these, but it's fine. Zero issues with the original jack after 22 years of constant use in of them. I'll also add that they all have differing neck shapes, neck angles and weights. They definitely have a variable handmade feeling; not a sterile CNC exactness.
