I’ve hard wired mine to my router. Great camera. I highly recommend it. Gobbles up SD space though if you use it to view and store footage direct to iPad/iPhone.
I have a garage which is not attached to my house. So the WiFi reaches it but I have a consumer unit for the garage that feeds from the main consumer unit. I don’t think I can use a Ethernet over electrical wire (sockets) adapter in this configuration. I will use WiFi but I am concerned about others jamming the WiFi..
One more thing. I wish to use this with a distant range within 100ft. I have a Tapo camera that detect everything, when I notice Google Outdoor cameras are really bad at recognising anything beyond a few feet away.
Would this camera detect more distant motions, cars, etc?
Does the POE version not work with Reolink NVR? Or is it limited to SD card only?
It does (I just don't have one). But I think I'll get one here soon to review
@@ThisSmartHouse thank you!
Does Reolink has face recognition?
BTW, you have a typo in the thumbnail.
Thank you for catching that.
when it comes to security, i would NOT go wireless. too easy to interfere with. besides, you need a power cable anyway, so why not dump that wireless nonsense and go wired?
That is why I like the PoE. One wire and done.
@@ThisSmartHouse thats why, when i bought my unifi equipment, i selected a switch that has PoE on ALL ports. 4 out of 6 devices connected to it need PoE.
@@ThisSmartHouse Because sometimes you just cant run a CAT cable to the site.
I have cameras covering a 4 acre site and around the out buildings I have power locally but I cant run a CAT cable to them so an external WiFI AP mesh works.
Yep. That is why I like systems with flexibility. Of course wired is best but you have to use what works for your set up.
Currently wired with a conventional system I have coaxial cable and a power line running to the camera locations. Thinking this is a good option to merely power the unit and my old DVR is kept as a decoy device?
why even mention wifi cameras when someone can just use a blocker
Because the cams still record locally. There are situations where you either can't or don't want to run cable for a power over ethernet camera.
@@ThisSmartHouse do you mean like if someone jams it the record goes to the SD card? or you need a nvr for that?
Generally speaking. As long as the camera has power it will record to the SD card. If you are using a WiFi camera and someone disrupts your wifi signal you should still be able to view the recording from the SD card.
If you camera has an SD card slot and you have one installed.
because no one comes to your property with a jammer. lmao.
