Excellent video for newcomers to Chromebook and answered many questions even for a private user. Cheers from the UK.
Glad you enjoyed it!
I come from a Windows background (since early 90s), so I know a bit about PCs, and it's great to see a Chrome OS review "for newbies", but without it being too dumbed down. You got the balance just right. Many thanks :-)
Glad this was useful!
Lol dude I got you beat when I started I only had aol and 144bud modem to get online VGA display and sound blaster sound card Yes that's right All those are extra options some time I have to setup IRQ so they won't interfere with each other but that was the fun in trying to figure those out and install driver on window 3.0 no plug n play next step probably will be brain interface which is a helmet like device to wear and can interact with PC maybe even it will devices hook up to our sense kinda like a VR games so with Chrome os been in the cloud my grandson is probably going to spend his life in the VR cloud for school, fun and date 🥰🤪who knows what is going to happen in the future and when I started I be happy I have a 144byte connecting speed gigabyte speed sounds like a science fiction novel
Love ChromeOS and Chromebooks. I've been running virtually everything through Chrome OS for a number of year's now, but since the pandemic hit and we've been working from home for nearly a year now my Pixelbook Go has supported everything I do for my work. Connect it to a remote work desktop and I don't need anything else tbh.
Couldn't agree more!
Unless you need to program a PLC,
I was a long term windows user ( I am 66 and have had a personal computer since the commodore 64). I was running windows 7 on my 12 year old pc. It was so slowwwww! I just bought a chrome book 2 weeks ago and I love it. I am convinced that the majority of pc users would be better off with a chrome book. I was worried that my excel and word apps would no transfer over but they work great on Google docs. Besides all this it is much more economical.
Thanks for sharing!
12 years old pc of course will be slow compared to a new one, am sure after 12 year if you buy a new one ( windows or chrome) you will notice the same (no matter the cost)
You might be able to install Google Chrome OS Flex on that ancient notebook, if you kept it. I'm age 73 and started on the Tandy TRS 80 with an 8" floppy. 64k was a ton of memory in those days! LOL.
What about PC users who require Adobe software, streaming software and high media usage?
I don't transfer over now unless you buy them and it's $50 a year each. They used to be free
I ordered a Chromebook from QVC on Black Friday. I love it!! I did not need anything for school or work. All I wanted was a simple laptop for my personal use. Watch movies, FB, CZcams, internet etc.. No regrets!!
Nice 👍🏼
I have been using Chrome OS for last 3 days and I am fan of simplicity and elegance. For me being a developer Linux support is the biggest point.
PS : Running on my budget gaming laptop on dual boot with windows 10.
And I am loving it. Sure serious gaming is missing but for most people it is good. Hope google brings inbuilt app store to download desktop Linux apps. That would be really good
I tried to install it but it didn't get install and now my laptop shows missing operating system. Could you just tell how could I fix it?? My one is hp. Or tell me how to install it. I am not using my laptop for about 3 days. I am tired of struggling to fix it?? Please help!!💡
My mom surprised me with an Acer Chromebook early for Christmas so this info will come in handy on Christmas morning when I can finally boot it up so thanks for this! Especially since I've never used ChromeOS ^ ^;
Glad I could help!
Wow, i am just amazed with how Google has launched the Chrome OS like any other laptops. Love ur vids, keep up the great work!!
Thank you! :)
You're a genius! Very helpful video, thank you! I'm buying laptops with Chrome OS for my nieces and nephews. I've never used a pc with Chrome OS only. I think I will like it because I'm a big fan and user of Chrome and Google.
Glad I could help!
Nice and detailed video, but I have a question. Does Chrome OS supports the camera and audio card on an old iMac from 2008 (silver)???
Excellent video! Keep up the great work!
Thank you very much!
Excellent overview and presentation.
Very informative video. I am thinking of buying an Acer Chromebook spin 713. Is that the same thing. If not whats the difference. Or do I have to actually purchase a Google Chromebook.
What is the best free app to install on Google OS that edit PDF drawings. I need to be able have the option to select to print only one layer out of many on a drawing. And I don't know which free app will allow that option.
even the cons are explained away. nice. I'll try with my nephew for his first laptop
Mister, is it an android on pc? Does ms office works on it? Thanks in advance.
Can you execute your own written code on the computer running Chrome OS? In particular, is there a linux-like terminal that you can open and run commands?
Yes if you install the Linux emulator or reflash the whole thing
Thanks for the info!
No worries!
🧑🏻Thank you, I just bought a Chromebox and Book because of their affordability and simplicity, and mostly for watching movies and online searching and shopping.
🧑🏻I will be watching more of your videos to broaden my Chrome uses. You are very generous. JB 🧑🏻
You're most welcome!
Awesome presentation 👏 👏 I'm looking forward to join the Chrome OS user community
Welcome aboard!
I’m really tempted to get the hp chromebase as i use google drive and classroom alot. I give online lessons but can’t find any videos that mention using videoconferencing apps like zoom and teams on the chromebase. Any advice?
The web versions of both of these apps work great. Zoom Doesn’t have all of the features of the desktop edition but it has most
Thank you , Ive learned a lot more just from your video! Ready for more!
Glad to hear it!
Awesome video. Thank you. Now I know something about Chrome OS 🇨🇩
Happy to help! Thank you for watching!
Came across a chrome box without a charger, waiting for the charger to get here still but have never used Chrome OS. Years of experience with OSX/Windows...and some Ubuntu, so this is fairly exciting.
yay
May I know the websites are loaded as desktop site or mobile site by default on Chromebook (Chrome OS)?
Desktop, its a full browser
I'm sold sir, very thorough *chuckles
Great video! Along with saving files locally, can I save/sync those same files straight to my Google drive? Currently, I'm having to save them locally, then manually forward them to Google drive. Thanks for your help.
Hey, there! You can sync your local files to your Google Drive on the web by deploying Backup and Sync in your organization. That will make your local files available on all your working devices. Hope that helps you today! If you want more information about Google services, feel free to get to know us more here: www.itgenius.com/. And don't hesitate to reach out to us!
@@itGenius_ Awesome, thanks!

Can chrome os format partition drive?
quick question..my chromebook aue (auto update expire) date is in june of this year. can i download chrome os before that and is it the same as google chrome? thanks.
Hi, before the AUE date, devices will receive new software updates from Google. On and after the AUE date, your device will not receive software updates from Google anymore.
my guy, this video is unbelievably well put together, Thank you so much for helping me understand what im using. I am very computerly challenged and have no clue what I'm even using. I grew up in the 90's using windows? I didn't understand any of the benifits of this system until you explained this. I got my little lenovo chromebook edea something i don't even know what this thing is called but i use it for customer invoicing, sales and general web surfacing as well as other things in my lawn care business. Currnetly I'm studying videos like this and looking for other information on how I can import photo's from my iphone 7 to clear up storage on my phone and learn how to make fun little youtube videos for my lawn care business. thanks agian for sharing the basics with us. great video!
Pleased it helped you :)
I'm already using my 2nd Chrombook and in my opinion Chrome OS is getting better. In fact, I think it is one of the best systems in the world. It is not yet my replacement for my Manjaro Linux PC 🤣😂👍
Couldn't agree more!
What's the advantage of Chrome OS over iPad OS that has more "Pro" apps?
when is dark mode coming out on chrome os?
Well watching this using my chromebook
Any substitute for myob if I buy a Chromebook?

Chrome OS sounds great but I have started using pop OS on my laptop and I like how it runs I do need to figure out more things about it but I like how I can still play my steam games on it and use discord without much problems
Thanks for this explanation gorgeous
🥰😇
Hey mate, now you can install Terminal and run so many good open-source Linux apps like LibreOffice, Gimp, Inkspace, Audacity, Kdenlive etc ... I got an i5 8 GB RAM 256GB storage and editing 4K video very smooth. It is very easy to enable Terminal. I highly recommend it to explore these amazing apps. I love the simplicity, e.g to install Audacity type into terminal sudo apt-get install audacity and that's all ;-). This is going to get better and better. I love my Chromebook ;-)
Is there an easy way to remote into a Chrome OS without the user doing much in their end except clicking on a popup button to allow such remote access? This is great for remote screen sharing so tech support can see what the problem is or teach people how to use Chrome OS.
Unfortunately not... remote support is limited, frustrating
I really like the ChromeOS. I want it to grow.
Same here!
can i ask what to do when google play option is not available in setting after changing channel to beta
it's probably because the chromebook model is not supported, or just too old.
yeah probably too old
So ChromeOS is like Android and Linux fused together since you can run apps from both? It's really interesting. If it was done by another company, I would probably buy it.
Chrome OS is based on Gentoo Linux. The Linux kernel however can also boot android. I’ m not an expert by any means but this is how I got it explained
I tried using Chrome OS via triple boot on my 2014 HP laptop with Pentium N3530 CPU, 4GB DDR3 RAM, and 500GB SATA HDD. It was painfully slow to run games in it. More than that, some mobile games like Real Racing 3 can't be installed in Chrome OS. So really, Chrome OS is nothing more than just a glorified RAM-eating Chrome browser with Android tablet app support.
To be brutally honest, I'd rather buy a flagship-grade smartphone that has Desktop Mode capability like Samsung, LG, and Huawei instead of a Chromebook laptop.
I just curious about Chrome OS, after watch this video, this is not for me, I can replace it with my Huawei tablet (with GMS of course).
My desktop using linux, laptop using mac and windows, phone using samsung and iphone, and cloud services I'm using dropbox + cryptomator, maybe in the future I will setup my own nextcloud, and email using my own box.
I am too paranoid to depend on one company :D
When google down, it doesn't affect my productivity.
Nice video btw.
thanks
Excellent overview. Appreciated..Mohee from Doha....here they like MacOs or Windows...still mantality in middle-east for Windows or MacOs...even Linux are still afraid of using this amazing OS and more secure than Windows or MacOs!
Thanks for sharing!
Thanks very informative
Glad it was helpful!
can you do youtube video on a chromebook 14A?..
What should I do for video and photo editing purposes
There are plenty of online tools and Luma fusion will soon be released for chrome
Good evening I would like to know if Chrome OS works on the notebook without windows installed thanks
Yes it does
I am very new to this crome os and really appreciate your help, but still I have challenges
You can do it!
Amazing Video Thanks
Welcome!
Can that login screen filled by password manager?
Not the OS login
Thanks
I just want a personal device. Are chrome books more user friendly than Windows 11? Are they easy to do a hard reset like an Android phone?
Hi there, great question. Pop this question into ask.itgenius.com/ and we will get Pete to answer it on his next Q&A series 🙂
The _ridiculously low_ amount of RAM these come with, as well as not having the option to upgrade _anything_ in them is what's holding them back from gaining more popularity.
How can i get back my old account because i forgot my password and i selected to make a new password and al my sons info of school was lost because of the new password that i made 😒 any suggestions?
you'll need to get access to your Google account
Thanks
Will a wifi dongle works in chrome os which is only supported in windows and mac..?
Hey there! Chromebooks can connect to mobile networks using dongles, or even devices that can connect to wireless broadband networks. And quite currently, Chromebooks have supported a few models of dongles like Huawei. If you need more information or assistance with Chrome, don't hesitate to hit us up: www.itgenius.com/

Can I switch to a Brave Browser easily on this laptop?
I’m not sure if Brave runs on Chrome, might need to google that one
I have Microsoft Surface go tablet, I installed Chrome OS, I loved the OS simplicity, the clean desktop, the easy use of Google apps, the only issue I had, is the disabled wifi, I can't connect to wifi, I can't even activate it. I Can connect using my phone but not with home wifi.
I can’t help with that sorry
Fantastic video
Thanks for the visit

Might need to start from scratch
Can I open .exe files? For example steam, and games, and wine
@Thrillcekr ahhh well I guess I will use Linux Mint and Windows 10
@@aaronwise1089 who're you talking to 😅
So is this just an Enhanced version of Android? I thought i could install some desktop apps on this OS. I don't need a Mobile apps for work on a Computer.
No desktop apps, either progressive web apps or web access, otherwise you can stream via virtual desktop solutions
Hi mate,
I just got a brand new Acer Chromebook 315 few days ago but it cant be set up. After connecting to an internet, I'm stuck at the page of "Determining device configuration". It keeps saying "No network available".
I tried to browse as a guest and its going perfectly. Which means there is an internet connection.
I've done a restart, done a powerwash reset, but its still the same thing. It keeps bringing network not available...
Have you heard anyone having similar issues ? Please kindly help me out
Might be time to return!
@@itGenius_ thanks for the response.
By the way, I'm just thinking if it could be because of the chrome version that comes with the Acer chromebook. When I check, the version that came with it was version 90.0.4430.86 (Official Build) (64-bit). And I learnt the latest version is 121.
Can it be because of the version ?
9:30 When I need to set up a remote access workflow for an app any argument that this OS is designed for efficiency is out the window.
Understand that point, these machines make great thin clients but they work best with apps on the web
Thanks for the Vid but .. . How much info data does Google harvest ? Can I use another browser like Brave without google organ harvesting me ?
Hi! Is it good for web design?
Really depends on what tools you’re using
does chrome os support android apps like android x86 ?
it supports most android apps
Where can I find a charger for the Chrome OS?
Do you mean chromebook?
I have never used a Chromebook b/4 and know nothing about them. Do you have any other videos that dumb it down some more. I am not computer savvy at all.
Yep just search on our channel
Is it good for those in teaching profession?
Many schools have switched to Google workspace so yes
hi! i have a chromebook thats storage is broken and when i reset it its still broken. can you make a vid or reply to me? thx!
Hi there! Typically if you have experienced Chrome book errors, you can do either of these or both: if the client provided the exact error they get however, the links below might help depending on the storage issue they encounter

If I want to make a CZcams channel to do light video editing would chrome os be better for me than windows?
Good question, probably windows as chrome is really not great for editing unless you do it online using something like CZcams studio or Canva
Can it run windows BAT scripts?
Nope
Chrome box its wonderful man of God
I have a 20 years old pc. amd althon with 1 gb ram. can i install chrome os?
I honestly would just get rid of that PC at this point. Even though ChromeOS is pretty light weight and can run on older systems, that's just too old. Browsing the web (the main purpose of a Chromebook/ChromeOS) will likely be very slow and not worth it. ChromeOS Flex requires at least 4 GB of RAM.
Hi there, great question. Pop this question into ask.itgenius.com/ and we will get Pete to answer it on his next Q&A series 🙂
Can i use other Internet browser instead of Google Chrome on Chromebook or Chromebox ?
I use Firefox on my Samsung Chromebook, but I needed to have Linux support enabled. I don't know if there are any alternative web browsers for ChromeOS though.
Not natively
Can we use libre office on it?
I haven't found a way though I also haven't looked
@@itGenius_ android apps only very strict and limited
6:15 "The only apps that will run are Chrome addons, chrome plugins or android apps".
I'd say that already wasn't that limiting, but now long after the release of this video, add in the option of installing full Linux desktop applications. It adds up to Chromebooks being fairly versatile, affordable computers.
I've actually been looking at Chromebooks for more of a media consumption device, to replace an aging Android tablet (that market has shrunk & feels stagnant). So for my purposes, using the android apps (or the chrome browser) will probably service most of that, but with the added option of installing some desktop Linux apps (if say I wanted something like GIMP photo editing).
Yep good point!
How safe it is for privacy? Google use to collect user data afterall.
No OS is safe to be honest regarding privacy. Apples' ios, mac os ,google's android ,microsoft's windows etc.
Chrome Os has no virus because its a mobile os. I think thats it. I dont think its any safer when it comes to privacy because we still give various access to the apps.
if you think privacy is important then you should not use google products 😂🤣
Man... I'd love to try a chromebook. Sadly it's non-existent in Indonesia. People here are more likely to buy cheap laptop without OS in it and install pirated version of windows.
You can use Neverware to install ChromeOS on most machines as an alternative
Look for Manjaro Linux trust me you love it....
install Linux mint its much powerful you can do much things .also its virus free
Well you can install chromium os on it, Im from Indo myself and I did it with zyrex sky xtreme, and it works really well, no problem on driver or anything
The first thing you need to install on a Chromebook is Linux :)
Lol
What do you mean by install Linux? Chrome OS is already Linux based distribution we just have to enable Linux virtualization from settings.
I have a new Chromebook and having difficulty trying to use it.
Hey, I'm just starting to get into making soft and tNice tutorials 17 minute video helped a LOT MORE than those one hour long tutorials out
Nice!!!
Make a video on difficulties we face on a Chromebook.
Anything specific you might want me to cover?
Can I connect keyboard with Samsung chrome book
Yep!
Be blessed man of God
why chrome OS not allow desktop icons on the screen
What about home/family users.
its shit os dont fall for it I tried.Instead install linuxmint its more faster much you can do and is virus free
When I had a Chromebook, a guest could use the machine separately, not saved. Family users could set up individual user accounts that were each separate and private. Hope that answers your question.
This is why I like Chromebook it's good
Lol, it's not. It's just basically a glorified Chrome with Android tablet app support.
@@farishanafiah8461 Have you try a Chromebook before or are you just hating on it because everyone else is?
