    I have the full set of these spanners and I rarely use the function shown. Most the time its easier and more accessible with a normal spanner. The spanner jaws are bulky and most the time too awkward to get into most tight spots. The one shown in the video is just perfect for the demo.

    I only purchased a 10mm and 13mm double sided one and It has helped myself and other technicians out in a few tricky situations. I couldn't justify buying a whole set but they do sell double sided open ends ones which do have good value for money.

    Wish wera made the joker switch in 6mm and 7mm! Then larger sizes such as 22, 24, 27 and 32mm in their standard joker range, I love their spanners, really innovative! But their size range isn't great!

    The Germans had to create tools like this due to the cars they design.

    • @derbigpr500
      @derbigpr500 Před 3 lety +1

      Yes, because superior cars are designed to be superior, and that's the priority, not ease of work or so that every uneducated mechanic could fix them. That's why German cars will sit at 200+ mph comfortably while american cars feel unsafe above 100.

      @barryredman2803 Před 3 lety +1

      @@derbigpr500 too bad they cant make them last more than 5 years without huge repair bills, buy a german car, and throw it out once warranty is gone.

    • @LorandHungary
      @LorandHungary Před 2 lety

      @@Dexter_Solid Idk what exactly you are talking about , they are quite reliable if you service them right.
      Got 115k miles on my A7 , only issue it had was the injectors and another issue came up with the dpf , because the mechanics here are garbage and couldn't identify the issue in time , killing the dpf.
      Also had a 2011 BMW X5 , put in 220k miles and never had a single issue. Only oil and filter changes were done to it.
      Now , i did have a Mercedes Viano , that one don't really want to talk about. It had quite a lot of electrical issues , but never left me stranded.
      Then now i also got a Jeep Grand Cherokee and had one before it. The one i had before blown the trans at 137k miles, other than that had the change the radiator , but that was under warranty while the trans wasn't. Don't have any issues with the new jeep cuz it's fairly new , bought in 2021 , it being a 2020 model.
      And then the japanese cars....
      Had a toyota land cruiser back in 2008 , had the engine shut off leaving me with no power steering on the mountains while overtaking in a corner. Thankfully was able to stop and drove after restarting the car , but the engine did have to be replaced.
      Also had a Rav4 , which shut itself off and wouldn't turn back on. Don't remember the cause through.
      So the only cars that left me stranded were the japanese one and american one.

    I've got to say, I love my Wera Precision screwdrivers. They are incredible. I simply cannot ever see myself be able to justify the cost of these wrenches because I cannot ever see myself having a need for that crafty marketing feature on these wrenches.

  • @Davobeff
    @Davobeff Před 4 lety

    If they had a reversible offset ratchet I might have bought a set. A standard combination spanner like this would be nice as we. You just can't get around corners with them.

  • @jwilkers1
    @jwilkers1 Před 2 lety +1

    I have the full set of these and while I like them I wouldn't buy them again, the open end has too much flex for really tight bolts and the tolerances are almost too tight but since the open end is 12 point the tolerances have to be tight to keep it from rounding off bolts. The closed end has low back drag on the larger size wrenches but the smaller wrenches 13 and down have too much drag so you have to help the mechanism to not turn a loosened bolt just back and forth. I really like the large numbering and the color coding those are features that are very cool and I wish my other wrenches had those features but even the coloring stripe on the commonly used wrenches are starting to wear off because it isn't protected in any way. After owning these for several months they feel like lower quality wrenches and only using the holding feature a couple of times hasn't justified the pricing.

    • @theharbingerofconflation
      @theharbingerofconflation Před rokem

      I don’t like saying this but I think you are using them wrong, for high torque I usually use the wrench with the plate down (if I even need open end) has enormous grip and never ate a bolt for me. As for the backdrag, mine developed that issue around 6 weeks of use, so initially I didn’t have to help the smaller ones outside of bolts that didn’t even catch already. I solved it with Ballistol. Give it a try for me would ya?
