  • Before I rebuild this Weber Carb, I thought it would be a great opportunity to compare the physical differences between a Typical SU carb from a stock MGB. If only to show why the Weber carb has become so popular with in the MGB community

Alex, great to see the project moving forward, Just comment on the carbs SUs are an incredible reliable carburetor and is not complicated to set up but it takes knowing how they work, which is not like most other carbs. I know this is a topic of debate, but both are very good carbs. Mine has the original twin SUs. The piston and the damper (dashpot oil) effectively act as the 'accelerator pump' of the SU when accelerating these carbs do not have hesitation when you accelerate. Also the variable venturi gives you a much smoother and quick acceleration though the rev range.
The side draft weber you have is much better than the down draft one.

Thanks for the perspective. I realized it might have appeared I was bagging on the SU. That was not my intention. Just thought since I had both available, I would show them in contrast. As I had already decided to use the weber, I guess my perspective was skewed.
I hear the SU gives better mileage too. Any other advantages you can share?

@@AlexPlatacis Your video is great and a good comparison. Just wanted to add some perspective on the SUs. I did not know about the MPG always something to learn.
