As DashnoChris pointed out, Sodom says "無礼講 (ぶれいこう/ブレーコウ)" meaning "no-holds-barred party; free and easy gathering"

The backstory came after the formation of the character but there's still more to him! The reason Dan's Saikyo Ryuu looks like an incomplete version of Ken and Ryu's style is because it IS. Gouken stopped teaching Dan very early on because Dan's sole goal was to get good enough to avenge his father's death to Sagat.

I know it's kinda obscure in comparison, but I've always wanted to know what the characters are saying in Garou: Mark of the wolves; an SNK fighting game featuring Terry Bogard. There's a lot of cool characters and I'd love to know what they say to show off to all my friends that love the game!

It's kinda weird to say out loud but I've never really thought about how the kanji in the background of stages are actual words, like I'd always seen them and never put much thought into it. It sounds stupid but this video made me realize how much you really miss playing these games and only speaking english.

Holy shit thanks for translating Ken's pre-fight quote to Ryu! I've always wondered what he was saying and i've tried googling it every so often for YEARS and i've never been able to find a translation.

Juni and Juli, being German, would actually be pronounced starting with a Y sound rather than a J sound like in English. I think the katakana used for their names reflects this, too.

Zangief says "большОЙ победа" wich pronounced wrong and need to be "большАЯ победа". Idk who is saying "Big victory". Strange phrase. "Greate Victory" will be more good
"Машина жар" is also really weird. It's like someone trying say something on Russian but with English rules and it really bad. This two words don't even feels like they are connected to each other. "Жар" also not so smart word to describe hot in technical language if you use it for the sign. Maybe "Горячая машина" sound more good, but I feel that "Hot! Don't touch!" is more fitting. You can use "machine" if you try something stereotype just for fun.

I guess you can't really expect much from the Japanese in terms of the correct use of other languages.
Even today with the help of globalization and the internet I cringe at most grammar and use of languages like English or German in Japanese Pop-culture.
It's not like they wouldn't have the resources to research the matter correctly after all some who make those mistakes are huge companies and studios.
So long story short: Why did they do it that way? - Because they didn't know any better xD

I don't understand why they didn't just get a Russian to do him, can't have been that difficult. Still, it's not as bad as Street Fighter 4 when they have Japanese voice actors doing English speaking characters and vice versa (why couldn't they have just one international version where they have characters played by actors from the countries they come from)?

"Wonderful" writes like "Хорошо" but spelled like "Харашо" without russian "y" (sound like "u").
On plus side in SFV Zangief correct says "Харашо" when he activates V-trigger.

Actually you can avoid Bison’s Psycho Crusher, you just need to do a shoryuken at the time he exits the screen and Ryu will go trough the special harmless. The timing is hard but doable.

Ah, Sodom, you should see his original win screen quotes in the Japanese version of Alpha 1 - all of them are well known misheard english pronunciations of common Japanese phrases. (eg: DO MORE SWIM A SEND, with the kata helpers "domo sumimaasen" printed over it). This IIRC is referenced in one of the Alpha 2 or 3 win screens, in which he goes "...In fact, don't touch my mustache.". Yes, the guy in a bona fide weeaboo and designed as such.

Somehow there's something about the notion of Japan being aware enough of weebs back in 1995 to parody them that I find endlessly amusing.
Once I watched Narurto Shippuden in japanese, and saw Naruto's pervy jutsu, I began associating him with Mika, and once I came back to SFA3, I couldn't help but imagine Rainbow Mika is related to Naruto, and today I watch this video, in which is explained that Mika's seiyuu is indeed the same as Naruto's! I can only say "I KNEW IT FOR SO LONG!!!"

These videos are fun and informative. I would like to suggest, the World Heroes Perfect game. Love that game and some sayings are easy to understand, others are not.
Pretty cool! I don't know if I've said this before, but you should totally do an episode on Tekken 4. It was the first tekken game to have voice acting, and it's also the only tekken game that doesn't provide subtitles before/after fights. There's also this song in the Shinjuku stage that has talking in it, but I don't think there's a lyrics page for it. So many little things in this game that'd make for a cool video.
We'll keep Tekken 4 in mind. I think Nik owns a copy... -Matt

Hey to add to this video, you might want to check the PSP alpha Max 3. It has a few extra characters in their like Yun Yang.
I agree it also has Ingrid’s only official appearance as an actual street fighter character.

R. Mika's seiyuu in Alpha 3 not just voiced Naruto, but also Hokutomaru in Garou: Mark of the Wolves and Cure Rouge in Pretty Cure 5 (which basically Sailor Moon meets Power Rangers).
I love Street Fighter Alpha 3 on the Sony PlayStation 1 and Sony PSP. Ryu, Sakura Kasugano and Karin Kanzuki are amazing and have wonderful lines, moves, combos, theme songs, stages and overall they are my favorite characters in the game. Cool video. ^_^

Can you guys do a video on The King of Fighters games next? I imagine there's so much to unpack on those games it would make for a huuuuuge video.
The Dan that Dan says is short for Dankukyaku, or Bullet Air/Wind Kick, the moves proper name. Tenchusatsu, can also be a homonym for Heaven's Punishment Murder. You named Shouoken correctly, but showed Midare Zakura, the super version meaning Chaotic Cherry Blossom.
I learned that the Japanese voice actress in for R.Mika also does the voice of Naruto when I was looking into who provided the English voice for R. Mika in SFV who does sound a lot like the English voice of Naruto. She is not voice by Naruto's English voice actress though.

You should do Street Fighter EX next, so much dialogue going on there (more than in any SF game pre-SF4) that I've always wanted to know what it's about.

Yes, and No.
While you would technically be right about how it commonly sounds when spoken, it is technically wrong to pronounce "Ha" as "Wa".
If natives speak the language it can be an extremely narrow difference however, there are still people who actually pronounce
"Ha" the original way (sounding almost like an "-a").
While the majority is now pronouncing things a certain way, it still is theoretically incorrect.
Another example for that would be "Ga" which technically should technically be pronounced with a nasal "n" at the beginning.
Regardless, languages are constantly evolving and changing. Enough people saying something a certain way makes that the "more correct"
way at some point.

Not anytime soon of course, but I saw someone in the comments corrected a couple with more accurate translations, and I totally wouldn't mind if you made an update to the same video, perhaps even next Halloween, maybe? Think about it!!
After seeing how much effort goes into new videos, I think it may be hard to find the time to squeeze in a remake for an older video.

Sodom is also a Final Fight character. He is the boss of the subway stage and you fight him in a wrestling ring. Also, Mad Gear is the name of the gang from Final Fight.
