  • Omicron - Key Symptoms
    There is some encouraging news, and some mysteries still associated with Omicron symptoms. Let’s review a doctor’s experience with COVID cases and what does it mean?

    According to the Dr. Angelique Coetzee who is the Chair of the South Africa Medical Board and a practicing GP in Pretoria, the symptoms are extremely mild. Scratchy throat instead of cough. No anosmia and loss of taste, however, lot of fatique. A young child had high heart rate.
    Dr. raised the alarm when four members of a family tested positive for COVID and all suffered with exertion.
    Omicron is spreading rapidly among young people. Most patients from which the following symptoms are observed were men. Half of them vaccinated.
    No or slight cough means: shedding will be limited to talking, laughing, etc. It will also mean that patients might not realize that they might be shedding. However, absence of cough itself is going to reduce shedding and spreading.
    No anosmia and loss of the sense of taste is interesting. It means that the swelling of the olfactory epithelium is not occurring (at least in the patients she saw so far.) This also means that possible neurological effects and possible long-haul may be less frequent.
    Patients complaint of sore muscles and tiredness according to Dr. Coetzee.
    A six year old child had fever and very high pulse.
    How is this variant behaving with older population and folks with comorbidities is not known yet.
    Omicron's (B.1.1.529) Symptoms are not like delta (B.1.617.2), instead these are similar to beta (B.1.351 - South African variant). No loss of sense of smell or taste. No cough or slight cough. Just scratchy throat. However, severe muscle aches and tiredness.
    Young people with body aches and pains and fatique.
    This is the account of the Dr. Angelique Coetzee. She says in an interview to Newsroom Afrika that she has consulted with other general practitioners. They all are observing very very mild symptoms.
    No loss of smell or taste. No oxygen levels dropping at this stage.
    Dr. Coetzee's interview in Newzroom Afrika: • Dissection of the Omic...
    Please stay careful, and protect yourself especially as the holiday season is upon us.
    Finally, this is a single doctor’s account of her patients. We will have to wait for more data from more doctors and studies.

      Omicron's timeline..
      ....10 days from now lockdowns will be enforced all over the globe, preferably in cities with populations over 1 million, due to the fact that this variant can escape current vaccines...it will take a minimum of 8 weeks to tweak the old vaccines & god knows how long to distribute world wide...
      ...travel globally will HALT in 21 days, humans are stubborn little creatures & will take this long for governments to react appropriately...
      ...the globe will be in lockdown for 6 mths starting in 10 to 20 days from now, yep 6 mths..!!
      ...the death toll will be 6% of all cases, not 0.6% like Delta...HOSPITALS will be overrun & the world will fall into economic depression...buy essentials now dont wait....if you invest buy GOLD....or GOLD MINING stocks...everybody will work from home for the next 9 months, kids will stay home for another year...
      NO I'M NOT JOKING...I'M DEADLY SERIOUS...this variant is the real deal, all the prior ones were just opportunities for Big Pharma to make cash, this time many will die...get IVERMECTIN it's the only thing that can help...good luck...

    I'm from South Africa (Johannesburg) and my family and I tested positive for covid about a week and a half ago. I don't want to jump the gun here, but from what's described we might've contracted this variant. All our symptoms were spot on in relation to the video. In my case, the only thing I experienced not mentioned was a sudden bout of nausea. The fatigue was the most challenging aspect of it all, but it lasted roughly 2-3 days in our case. We had some tension headache/eye soreness (painful to look side to side) and that too took a couple of days to go away. My mother is 67 with underlying comorbidities and she's also perfectly fine today. She didn't have any severe symptoms, instead she only had a slight fever, a bout of diarrhoea and the headache I mentioned above. Also, none of us have been vaccinated yet, and we're perfectly fine. My partner is fully vaccinated, and his symptoms were incredibly mild and easy to miss, however because we were in contact we were able to look out for anything out of the ordinary, and he only had a scratchy throat. It definitely is easy to dismiss it as the flu or a cold. I personally don't think there's a need to panic, but we'll see how it all unfolds. Again, I'm not jumping the gun, but simply sharing my own experience.

      @alinazang6651 Před 2 lety +13

      Viruses don't have "self interest" because they don't have minds. It's by law of probabilities that they survive or not. If it is virulent and kills the host, the host decreases the amount of virus spreading. If it is weak, the host lives and the host increases chance of spreading the virus. That's all. It doesn't "will" or "think" anything.

    • @NickSBailey
      @NickSBailey Před 2 lety +6

      it doesn't "think" but rapid reproduction enables it to evolve, adapt and change in the most effective way, it's an even more efficient process than deliberate decision making in some ways, the way this particular virus can spread before deblitating the person carrying it, even before they're aware they have a virus at all is why the usual rules don't apply so much, it can become both deadlier and more infectuous at the same time, and that's what happened with the delta variant, hopefully omicron is the opposite but time will tell, it's too early to say sometimes the worst part doesn't come on until a week or two after symptom onset

I was put on Vitamin D3 and it sorted me. You can have vitamin D deficiency because of an underactive thyroid, which is what I have and that caused it. If you are feeling these symptoms please don't ignore them or just treat them with medication or in case of fatigue caffeine. If you wake up feeling this way I recommend at least at 30 minute nap as soon as possible preferably before you eat or drink. You're not only helping yourself but you potentially won't be spreading it to others if you go to work pretending you're fine. If after your early nap you feel fine than you can do other things but if not then stay home get lots of rest and monitor for other symptoms.

    How do they even know it's a variant? Do they actually have tests ready for variants before the variant happens? Makes no sense ..

    • @Channelinterrupted
      @Channelinterrupted Před 2 lety +2

      And how is the data collected so fast and reviewed and a conclusion already came while only a few people have it according to them... Just doesn't makes sense... Nothing moves fast in the government or medical/science community until this virus and this makes no sense that they would have so much ability to get all this data so fast and identify it. PCR was positive for even bacterias when I worked healthcare not long ago, how do they know it's even a single virus with a PCR. I would like a video on this because I do not think it's possible.

      @@Channelinterrupted I'm pretty sure that EUA for PCR test is ending Dec 31, with new tests coming that can differentiate between flu and covid. But this could be out of date info because I think Bill Gates bought the company that produces the PCR test.

    5 days. No cough, sore throat for duration. No tight chest. Tired, but really manageable. I feel 100% 5 days later.

    I’m a 65 year old woman. Unvaccinated. Day 3 I am coughing more, scratchy throat, tightness in upper chest, runny nose at times,a bit of chills, mild body aches. More tired. First time sick during pandemic. We were babysitting our 2 year old who has the same symptoms.

    Can someone please explain why we are still saying SARS(severe acute respiratory syndrome)-COV-2 if there are no SARS symptoms associated in individuals who contract these variants? Those who develop mild cold like symptoms? Does the common seasonal cold get wrapped up in absolute numbers?

    Fever??? You are describing a very light case of flu or cold. It gives me hope, if it takes over the other variants, that sounds like it would peeter off to being a seasonal cold or flu.

    Thanks for helping people not to be scared witless. Would this new variant scare have anything to do with the fact South Africa has a low rate of vaxed and is doing pretty well in Covid cases?

  • @Ariosotrio
    @Ariosotrio Před 2 lety +20

    It's interesting that this variant seems to be closer to the Beta than Delta variant. The mainstream media/medical establishment will surely use the fact that South Africa has a relatively low vaccination rate to blame the unvaccinated for the virus mutating. It is expected that the virus will mutate in both highly vaccinated and unvaccinated communities, however, wouldn't it be interesting if the variants coming out of unvaccinated communities are less deadly and virulent than the ones coming out of highly vaccinated communities?

    i think we husband and I had this over the weekend...it was strange, like never before. We never felt at any bug like this. The extreme fatigue, mild body and muscle aches and headache (bearable) plus a sore throat and 1-2 coughs. Husband had mild fever and chills also nausea. I could function a little at minnimum duing the fatigue and make soup, care for kids, but dh not, he was bedridden. It went away the next day but during the fatigue moments we felt like we are loosing it, it was intense tiredness, not what you expect from normal bugs, cold or flu. The fatigue was worse symptom for us as we have 3 kids and they were in full power at weekend. Then it started to snow and just like that, our symptoms dissapeared. Strange, intense it was but luckly it passed. What helped me is I struggled to take fresh air, I went a little outside even at my worse. But husband could not, for him it took more to recover. If you have the possibility take short walks outdoors no matter the weather, even at sickness. It reallyhelps a lot to recover, even if is hard at that moment, just try not to make much effort, take it slow

      They are saying that because this is so new that it will take at least a couple of weeks, in order to record incubation time, who in the community are getting sick or are asymptomatic, who is vaccinated or not vaccinated etc, there are so many variables that this stage to tell. As a nurse I really suggest eating well, hydrate, excise, reducing stress, supplement with with vitamins D, C and zinc. Keeping yourself as healthy as possible is a good start :)
