The band was JLP, Juaquin Lievano, Alan Zevod, Rayford Griffin and Baron Brown. That same week, I saw the same band open for the Yellow Jackets at Concord Pavilion. I didn't stick around for Yellowjackets...
Oh god, this bongo or whatever is the name of that percussionista instrument has a serious issue of tuning with this particular song. It causes an awful dissonance in the begining. Too bad, such a great team, a great song

My favorite JLP song! Saw him play at an early 1980's Berkeley Jazz Festival and this has been one of my all time favorite Jazz songs since.
