Very nice, but it's our belief that anything coming out of the sea should never see fresh water so any washing/rinsing/refreshing gets done in salted water. A dear old Italian lady I know told me the fish must swim three times - once in the ocean, once in the oil, then once more in the wine.
This is true, in that, adding salt to the water helps to refresh the shrimp after they have been frozen and is a good way to retain moisture. I also washing/rinse in salt or fresh depending on what I am making. If it does not take away from the taste/flavor of the shrimp it is fine, in my book, others may think differently. Whether rinsed/washed in fresh or salt water, in the end, if the dish doesn't taste good it will not matter.
