Jokes aside, this mushrooms goes excellently on steaks.
Rip it to large shreds and fry it in butter with onion, garlic and pepper.
Then throw in a tad of parmesan cheese and heavy cream as well as a splash of milk, let it reduce, and spread the creamy mushrooms on top of a finished steak.
Vegetarian/breakfast option is putting it on butter fried sourdough bread.

This is the better way to substitute meat rather than hyper-processed foods.
It tastes nothing like meat. I’ve tried it at a vegan place in Seattle along with cauliflower “chicken wings” and they both in no way tasted like the real thing. You’re better off trying to replicate it with lab grown meat.

if it helps, mushrooms are closer to cows and pigs than they are broccoli and lettuce. fungi is crazy versatile with all the different flavors and textures you can get. i had some mushrooms before that legit tasted like some fried shrimp.

Yes it's a small percentage, but that small percentage might be irreparably damaged. Lion's mane is not all it's made out to be. There has been a growing number of people who are coming out talking about the damage it has caused them. A new subreddit was open called Lion's mane recovery. In the past few weeks it grew from nothing to 4.6k users. People killing themselves and experiencing life altering catastrophic consequences from lion's mane. Don't shit on someone because you're not aware of it. Whatever perceived benefit you have from it, is not enough to justify the risk.

try dry sauteeing your mushrooms before frying them in oil or butter. it makes the texture a lot better, just chop them very finely. shiitakes done this way with butter can have a bacon-like flavour

I ❤ lions mane. I harvest them around my home and like them just lightly grilled or pan fried with minimal seasoning. They taste like crab meat.
I really wish more people would try them so they could refute comments like this along with me. I only assume you’re not an avid crab eater because it doesn’t taste like crab, steak or chicken. It has a flavor uniquely it’s own but would never be mistook for actual meat.

Clearly you people don’t know what a hyperbole is so I’ll simplify this for you: he largely overstated the similarities between this and actual beef steaks, both can be cooked similarly and look similar, however he underestimated people common sense in that he didn’t mean an actual steak, lions mane is a common steak replacement in vegan dishes, thank you for coming to my ted talk.
