  • Incredibly unique map, using a turret like I've never seen it being used before in many really clever ways.

    I recorded this video slightly differently from usual. Whenever I would be out of ideas or go into 'deep thinking mode', I would not speak and cut it out later. To those who sit through the whole thing: is it more entertaining this way, or less so? Or does it not matter?

    Thanks a lot for the video! I was quite impressed by how collected and analytical you were in your reasoning, because of this you were able to see several moves much faster than I was expecting. Overall you made rather steady progress (even though I'm aware you cut out the "empty" moments, btw personally I think it indeed was a good idea to do so, especially since it's a tough map and the video was going to be a long one anyway. For easier maps, I may have a different opinion on the matter).
    I feel like you were unlucky with some moves that appeared particularly inconsistent... basically everything that could have gone wrong, went wrong at some point! I'm thinking especially about the move where you need to fling while holding the turret. I guess I just got the hang of it, but it can get really nasty for the player. I'll see if I can improve that. Also, I hadn't considered at all that trapping situation for some reason, it's not a huge deal since it's a little silly but I guess I could fix it :P the turret being destroyed when it spawns on the light bridge isn't intended per se, but it doesn't really matter for the puzzle. However the turret used to autorespawn mysteriously when that happened, so that's one of the few issues I had to fix by editing the game files.
    As regards your solution itself, it was absolutely intended from start to finish, aside from a few places where you took an alternative (and slightly harder) route. For example, you could have used the regular cube to respawn the laser cube in the beginning, it's a bit more comfortable than using the turret. You could even just shoot the laser at the deactivated laser relay and catch the cube, that's even easier. But as I said, it doesn't really matter. I'm happy that you enjoyed the puzzle, and also the "very nice move" to bring the laser cube in the upper area. To be honest, I was afraid some players might dislike because it's quite obscure. Glad it wasn't the case for you.
    Finally, about the portal magnet on the floor surface, I wanted to change the texture of the panel to help indicate it (as suggested by Narkodes) but it didn't work out :( I suppose I can indeed state it in the description. Thanks once more for taking the time not only to play the map, but also to record your run and upload it! I had a lot of fun watching it, and i'll probably watch it again at least partially some time from now :D

    Unintended move of mistery at 2:07:05. I really don't like that move, it's a bit ninja but Leo confirmed it's intended (you can do it in a few different ways, but you still have to move pretty quickly). Maybe change the map somehow. I did about the same, see my playthrough.

      To clarify, the 100% intended way to perform that move is to place the laser cube in position with a portal on the laser, stand close to the edge, and shoot your other portal the upper surface. That way you have more time to drop down and catch the regular cube. So yeah, there's a slightly easier way.

      @@leovitiello7424 I can understand the distaste for that particular move. Maybe you can put the cube spawner on a 1 second delay just to be safe? Might mess with some other timings, though, I'm not sure.
