  • This is my full in-depth review of the 2020 Toyota Land Cruiser Heritage Edition! Like this video if you enjoyed it and remember to subscribe AND ring the bell for more content! Thanks for watching everyone!
This SUV is an icon! There are countless off road enthusiasts that respect this vehicle because of its subtle luxury and it's off road capabilities! This vehicle first came to America in the 1958 and became an instant hit! This Heritage Edition gives a nod to the off road appearance the original was known for. Deleted running boards, deleted 3rd row, bronze BBS wheels, dark chrome, and a roof basket are a few things that Toyota did to make this SUV feel even more special and rugged.

Just to clarify, I meant to say 1958 not 1980’s. The Land Cruiser came to America in 1958. Sorry my brain is mush.
Thanks for watching though! Hope the health of my viewers is tip top! Stay safe and see y'all in the next one!

Having a little bit of money to buy a nice Toyota is not the same as driving a really up market Mercedes.
Most people will automatically recognise the Mercedes as being an expensive car but not the Toyota, Nissan, VW or Ford which can cost just as much money.

@bighands69 funny, while I do think of Mercedes as expensive new, I also look and them and think they are cheap, because they are so scrappy they depreciate to less than a better quality vehicle almost instantly

I already know the answers and maybe it's because I'm old, however, EVERY single vehicle review I've seen on CZcams is purely style over substance. They never talk about anything that is not already very easily viewed on Google (fuel economy, ground clearance, V6 with 300hp, etc.) or by pulling up the owner's manual.
If I were in the market for a Land Cruiser (or any vehicle), I would want to know things like, Does it have a timing belt or a timing chain? How easy (or difficult) is it to access the water pump? (because that is going to give you an idea of the $$$ of any type of major engine repairs). Is it an interference engine? Solid front axles or IFS? Trans fluid dipstick? Are there any vulnerable areas (fuel tank, starter, alternator, etc.) underneath the vehicle which are NOT protected by skid plates? What's the powertrain warranty. What's the corrosion warranty? What's the service schedule for primary components? Does the mfg call for premium fuel? No need to watch a video to determine whether a vehicle has Apple Car Play or has LED headlights.
21st Century America. Style "Hey, here's a cute little cubbyhole to store your iphone" over substance.

I own a 2013, bought it slightly pre-owned. It's been ROCK SOLID. 103k miles on it. I'll have this for at least 300k miles, minimum. The only negative thing I have for it, and it's very minor overall, is the fuel economy. I average around 13.5mpg, but I have a small lift (BP51) and 275/70R18 on stock rims. I ABSOLUTELY love it.
Before the Land Cruiser, I had Jeeps. As much as I really like the new Jeep Wrangler and especially Gladiator, they are so cheaply put together now days. My first Jeep was an 03 TJ, with 25k in modifications (60s, PSC, Poison Spyder everything-was a SEMA Jeep). 110k miles and all I had to do was occasionally replace the bushings in my aftermarket long arms. My second Jeep was an 11. At 3k miles, I had a transmission failure (6MT). After that, constant minor electrical problems like issues with the locks and windows not working, the radio buttons on the steering wheel not working, and other issues like constant engine pinging with the 3.8L.
At this point, the only thing that would steer me away from my current 200 is the 300. I really love the 2016-2020 design, but not enough to buy a new one. Theres really no need at this point.
Thanks for the great review! Finally, a reviewer that really understands the Land Cruiser.

    • @UnseenSpirit
      @UnseenSpirit Před 3 lety

Fuel economy is always something mentioned. I don't think you can he poor to own one in terms of fuel, but then you save on repair costs which say a Range Rover or Audi Q7 would create before a Land Cruiser...

Why do youngsters say "Toyota" like it's an economy-car? Toyota's have ALWAYS been the #1 auto manufacturers as far as quality and reliability. They are the 'mercedes' of our era (ie back when mercs were built to go to a million miles) 90k for a TOYOTA is to be expected. Toyota makes the most reliable cars, everyone knows that... and they come at a PRICE

Fine review of a great machine. I find it remarkable that the one vehicle in their fleet that doesn't have Apple Carplay is this one, and that the electronics themselves are from at least 5 years ago. Better cameras and better software for the head unit are found in their less expensive vehicles. While many wouldn't question it because it's so good in other key areas, the fact remains that the buyer spends 85-90 K for ancient tech.

Sitting higher in the back than the front is an old ladder frame truck thing and they call it “stadium view” since you are able to see past the driver to the road ahead. The land rovers always advertised that even their 3rd rows had “stadium sitting”, and they still do today with the discovery 5 ( they still advertise I mean) even though its no longer a ladder frame truck, because the second row would be higher than drivers and the 3rd row would be higher than 2nd row. everyone had a good view of the front. This is a VERY nice thing when youre out on a trail, to be able to see whats going on without everyone fighting for the center view at the same time.

I have a 2019 Ford F-150 Raptor that has given me a ton of problem so I’m looking for something reliable, good to tow a small travel trailer and good for off roading. Not concerned with horsepower or fuel economy. Good luck:)

Only thing, would have liked to see the sleeping ability for a six footer in the back with the seating out of the way. I camp occasionally in a Highlander and can sleep quite comfortably in it. But really want one of these. Problem though is such a huge depreciation hit if you decide to sell it within a few years, as I’ve closely followed the used pricing on LC’s and it’s not good at all. Sure, if you keep it 20-25 years it works out fine but how many want to keep a vehicle that long? Anyhow, great review, just discovered you so I’ll check out your other vids as well.

People who actually have money buy Land Cruisers and many buy 4Runner Limiteds as well.
Unlike the vast majority of Range Rover, Merccedes, BMW, Escalade, etc. "buyers" who pretend to have money and actually have lots and lots of debt.

Yes it's worth every penny, considering inflation 90k would be equivalent to 76k in 2010. Inflation makes everything sound so expensive.

Thanks for calling out the weird low front seat design. There’s little to no foot room for 2nd row passengers to slide under the front seat. A real shame as there’s plenty of knee room.

I really really want this thing but I also love my 2016 4Runner trd pro. Would you trade for the land cruiser? I’m really thinking about it

With so many electronic and computer chips/parts controlling the car, it can't cross river/deep water over the hood like the old LC, unless those parts/chips are waterproof.

Just bought a VX( Australia), best 4wd I’ve had. We get the twin turbo diesel V8 here, which is an absolute beast, great video.
