Both are certainly fun and quite a bit different. Lots of free land in the SW, but FL you will likely have to do RV parks or campgrounds. We tend to like to keep traveling so we don't get sick of one area. By the time we get back to that area a year or so later we really miss it! Have fun on your trip!
BLM is Bureau of Land Management, not ownership. These are PUBLIC lands that the Federal Government “manages” for US. LTVAs ( long term visitor areas) do usually offer fresh water, trash dump, tank dump, and La Posa south also has vault toilets. One thing to remember is you are not required to stay the whole time. Your decal says you can be there, but you can leave and travel and return at will. In town You can drop off your laundry for them to do if you wish... If you need your furry friend groomed, try the Shear Shed! And Coyote’s market has fresh delicious Angus beef and not the ‘other’ beef. Lol There are special interest groups that meet on BLM ( like ham radio operators in Roadrunner blm) Hope to meet y’all at Q!

LOL...okay guys, overall good video with good info, but the candid goofing around at the end was the best. Super funny and entertaining watching you guys more relaxed and goofin on each other. Keep up the great work.
Thanks for watching! Funny how long it takes to get comfortable on CZcams for sure. It took us about 6 months just to get up the nerve to start it and now a year and half later, 139 videos, 1.8 million views, and it's still tough! But we are having fun with it and it is truly getting easier and easier to do. 😃
"Walk-Mode" E-Bike question about pushing bikes up Lombard St. We are considering getting the Rad Power Bikes (that's how we found your excellent channel) I see on the RadRover website they describe it as: "Walk Mode is a feature that allows the motor to move the bike at a moderate pace so that a person can move their bike without having to push the full weight. The walk mode can be activated by holding down the minus button on the RadRunner or the down button on the display remote of the other bikes. Make sure you're holding the handlebars with both hands. The motor will stop providing assistance as soon as the button is released. Once you get it going, just start walking like you normally would. It can move the bike pretty quickly, so be prepared to keep a steady pace." Is that an option on your bikes and how well did it work? (or possibly you didn't know about it yet?). Subscribed and enjoying your travels.
Hello, thanks for watching! We didn't know about walk mode until someone left a comment in one of our videos. Would have came in handy in San Fran for sure! I did try it out since though and it does work just like it states..... just hold the down button and it moves a pretty good pace! The Quartzsite terrain really put these bikes to an off road test and they did great. About 20 miles, but it was so rocky, dusty, and bumpy out there on the trails, that it wasn't that enjoyable!
I think we're are done with Quartzsite for the season, but the more I looked into LTVA's, the more they sound like a pretty good option. Enjoy your stay!
Hello! During the big tent rv show there are more rvers and its less private, however you can find more private spots but they are usually a little harder to get to. Just go further away from the paved roads. Lots of spots everywhere there and you can find private ones.
We are new to your channel, we saw you on Adventure Endeavor's Channel, love your boondocking videos and was wondering if you have thought about Harvest Hosts? We are thinking about it but not sure if it's worth it. tnx Dave and Brenda
Hey Dave thanks for stopping by! We got HH when we first bought our van in Dec of 2019 and were on the East coast. It is a nice option to have, but we honestly don't use it as often as we should. We treat it more of a going out type of date, because it usually involves spending a bit of money and time. We have done one restaurant, one golf coarse, and about half a dozen wineries/vineyards in the past two years and really should use it more. If its in your budget we think its a great option to have for places to stay and for things to do. Just a bit about us, we split our time between Thousand Trails Campground membership, boondocking, moochdocking, and staying in cities on the streets or overnight parking lots. We most often use Campendium.com to find the free overnight stuff.
Great video guys! I really enjoyed and appreciate the great information you shared. Gets the gears in my head turning as I plan for retirement and RVing. Keep the great videos coming! Enjoy, and stay safe out there😎😎
I moved into the LVTA a month ago just because it worked out best logistically for my summer plans. It has been surprisingly pleasant and it’s a great deal. Even with not using the full season I still would have spent as much on dump stations as I am now. Not having to think about water, sewer, and trash has been great and the weather has been awesome.
@@IreneIronTravels For those of us that prefer the “out in the middle of nowhere experience” you just have to drive a little further out. The majority of campers stay closer to the entrance.
This must of been a great adventure to return back there and Quartzsite Arizona . I see in the video you got to explore with and travel with your bikes. It’s amazing that so many RV travels end up going there . If you look for the wonder of stars in the evening and the early sun rise, also the evening sunset must be beautiful with all open spaces . I want thank you for sharing this information with me and the time you two put in to make this video . I enjoy the information you describe . BS& BK

Just to clarify, it is not government owned land. These are OUR public lands. The BLM/Bureau of Land Management operates under the Dept of the Interior and the BLM manages these lands for multiple use. May seem an insignificant detail, but it is very important. Love your videos ~ keep 'em coming! You guys are a weekly bright spot! Be safe out there.
I hear ya, they are our public lands for sure! Really do appreciate you watching and supporting each week. 😃 It is a difficult thing to explain to someone who has never heard about BLM land( us 2 years ago 😂)I was just going off of Wikipedia's definition... Federal lands are lands in the United States owned by the federal government. Pursuant to the Property Clause of the United States Constitution (Article 4, section 3, clause 2), the Congress has the power to retain, buy, sell, and regulate federal lands, such as by limiting cattle grazing on them. These powers have been recognized in a long line of U.S. Supreme Court decisions.[1][2] The federal government owns about 640 million acres of land in the United States, about 28% of the total land area of 2.27 billion acres.[3][4] The majority of federal lands (610.1 million acres in 2015) are administered by the Bureau of Land Management (BLM), U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (FWS), National Park Service (NPS), or U.S. Forest Service (FS). BLM, FWS, and NPS are part of the U.S. Department of the Interior, while the Forest Service is part of the U.S. Department of Agriculture. An additional 11.4 million acres of land (about 2% of all federal land) is owned by the U.S. Department of Defense (DOD).[4] The majority of federal lands are located in Alaska and the Western states.[4]
Excellent point, and thank you for making it. The gvmt does not own these lands, we do, because WE own this gvmt. It is there solely to service us, protect our rights and property, and abide the Constitution which was created to try to guarantee said gvmt is Of, By and For the People. We must resist the mindset that separates the federal gvmt from the public, because that is where tyranny and draconian mismanagement of gvmt comes from.
Great review of the area. You described the realities and the low and high points very appropriately. Quartzite is largely occupied by older people, and it is good to see that more diversity is showing up in the winter. Hopefully the fully show will be underway next year. We may hit quartzite on our way to the Baja next winter. If you think restaurants are almost non existent at high season, try visiting after March.
Thanks for watching! Yes, hopefully it will be back to normal next year for sure...... but who knows! I can only image what it's like in the off season!! Baja sounds nice!
I really enjoyed my time in in the Yuma-Quartzsite-Lake Havasu areas last winter. Stayed the most time at Fortuna Pond, not the greatest road in, but a nice free spot to stay.
Thanks for sharing your Tips on the trips you've visited, Its always a pleasure to watch you both on camera, I was curious that the Rad bikes does not handle well on washboard roads?
Thanks for watching! We did about 20 miles on the bikes out there in the desert and they did really well. Probably the roughest terrain well ever take them on and they did great for not being a full-suspension bike. It was extremely bumpy, rocky, dusty, and some of it was deep loose rocks in the wash. Fun, but glad when it was over!
This was really helpful, guys, thanks! We were planning on coming out this winter for the first time but have put it off due to COVID. We may still make it in March-we’re very spur of the moment. We have a Revel 4x4 van & are into boondocking away from crowds. Palm Canyon looks great. We love hiking. Can you ever find firewood laying around or must you always buy it?
Hello! The Revel is pretty sweet to be able to get away from the crowds for sure! Quartzsite is a great area and we'll have some more secluded boondocking spots coming up in the next couple weeks. Q did have signs saying you can not scavenge down wood at all, I think mainly because there are just soooo many RV'ers that come each year. It's a little easier to find fallen wood out in the secluded boondocking spots for sure.
He did! Had one of those famous pizzas on it.😋 We were actually pretty spoiled because three people had smokers there. Ribs, porkchops, pizzas...... so good. Now where do we fit one on the van!🤣🤣
Really great review series on QS. Been through the area but never camped more than a couple days. After we get kicked out of our recently sold house in Wa. we will be staying in at our property in Montana March-April, in our new AS Interstate. But after watching this video (and hearing about the warm temps) my wife is lobbying hard for Arizona lol. How crowded are the fee site’s can you easily get a spot? Also did you happen to checkout the hookup RV parks in the area? I’d imagine those are pretty full?
YES! There is a reason all the snow birds congregate in Arizona for sure! Check out the begging of this video (2:30 mark) by Traveling Robert czcams.com/video/71cGQKgVdys/video.html and he shows footage of driving through a LTVA. It kinda looks like a large spread out RV park. Not super private, but the price is right. There are a handful of small full hook up RV parks right in Q as well and I think not during the big RV tent show there should be openings. Keep in mind there is not a ton to do in Q and you might get pretty bored after a month or so. We were ready after two weeks for sure, but we like to keep moving. But lots of great areas in the SW for winter! Exciting your getting closer to living in your AI!!
Have you considered any suspension upgrades for your sprinter? While you'll always be limited by your length and 2WD, there are still plenty of options to lift a sprinter and put on off-road friendly tires and get a little farther off the pavement.
Haven't look deep into it, but yes a lift would help out immensely for our Sprinter! Not a lot of ground clearance on our van and a lot of expensive goodies hanging down! We do like our Goodyear Wrangler Duratracs AT's and give us a bit of extra confidence while camping off of the pavement. I've heard lifts are a couple grand, but haven't gotten quotes.....
@@IreneIronTravels I have the Agile Off Road (San Diego based) RIP suspension kit on my 4x4. It lifts about 2". It reduces the 'rock and roll' big time. It cost something less than 5k, I don't remember exactly. On a separate topic can you point me to any video you did on your rear thermal screen/drapes and valence? It looks awesome. I have done it on the front just behind the seats but it does not look as professional as yours.
That suspension sounds nice along with 2 inch lift! I put in Sumo Springs to help with roll as well, but it was only a minor change. Better than nothing. We talk about the thermal curtains in this video at the 21-minute mark. czcams.com/video/dvhQ6QH58Qk/video.html We basically used a tension curtain rod on the back door and I mounted vertical ceiling curtain rod mounts inside of the factory valance on the side windows. Then bought the thermal curtains off Amazon and had Chris's sister hem them to length.
@@IreneIronTravels Suspension stuff can get expensive fast, so it really depends on how you see yourself camping in the future. A lift is next on my list because the diesel generators for sprinters hang REALLY low i.ebayimg.com/images/g/xR8AAOSwmZpfj7QJ/s-l300.png and it'll scrape on everything, even my aunt's driveway...
Have you visited the Tucson area? There’s some BLM and forest service land there. I love Tucson, it’s a big health and fitness oriented city. Many beautiful natural areas to go hiking. Incredible restaurants too.
Hello, thanks! Yes, the Desert bar is quite a different scene for sure, should have prefaced now's probably not the time to visit it. There were not a lot of masks there at all, but you could distance yourself as it is a very large outdoor compound.
Unrelated to this video, a question on the generator. I’m assuming yours is propane. If you could, would you rather have a diesel? What it the typical run time for a long weekend trip with the propane generator? Thanks
Hey there! I have mixed feelings about it. We have a 19 gallon( 90lbs) propane tank and don't have to worry about using our diesel. The heater and stove also use propane. If we went diesel I would want to get rid of propane all together, so diesel heater and induction cook top. Would need more solar for the cooktop for sure. Our generator is about half a gallon per hour of use and is hear diesel is more efficient. We don't use the gen much at all in the summer time, but in the winter we had to run it for about 3 hours per week to charge back up the 400 amps of lithium batteries.
Terry - my sprinter rig came with a 3 kw diesel generator and I LOVE it. It uses 0.25 gallons per hour at max load, and 0.10 gallons per hour at 25% load. So if you can safely use 10 gallons out of your main tank, that's 40 hours at max load or 100 hours at 25% load. In short - you can easily make it through a weekend of 24/7 use with enough diesel to make it home. I added a 50 gallon diesel tank to my sprinter, so with 75 gallons of fuel I'm good for weeks of no hook-ups or solar.
Very enjoyable video . Liked the look of the desert bar!!
It certainty was something we've never seen! Pretty cool!
Thanks. Good info, good tips, good spirits.
Thanks Tim!

Hanging with Adventure Endeavor! Another one of my favorite channels. Did Jesse break out the smoker?
He did! Had one of those famous pizzas on it.😋 We were actually pretty spoiled because three people had smokers there. Ribs, porkchops, pizzas...... so good. Now where do we fit one on the van!🤣🤣
Jesse’s video on the smoker looked like too much work. We have a Blackstone. Good thing you guys didn’t have to sing for your dinner.
Oh, there was lot's of singing! Just not very good.😂 We love our Blackstone too! Stir fry's and fajitas were our contribution to the group!
Trying to section off an area for a group on blm land is illegal without a special permit.
Very true, thanks!
We talk about the thermal curtains in this video at the 21-minute mark. czcams.com/video/dvhQ6QH58Qk/video.html
We basically used a tension curtain rod on the back door and I mounted vertical ceiling curtain rod mounts inside of the factory valance on the side windows.
We did a little bit of the Tuscon area last year and really liked it. Beautiful area and we need to explore it more!
I enjoy your videos! However, were people not wearing masks at the outdoor bar?
Hello, thanks! Yes, the Desert bar is quite a different scene for sure, should have prefaced now's probably not the time to visit it. There were not a lot of masks there at all, but you could distance yourself as it is a very large outdoor compound.
😁😁😁😁😁😁👍
😃😀👍👍
@@IreneIronTravels Thanks. Love the channel!
👍👍
😃 Thanks JJ!
Dude, don’t let her sing on camera 😂
I warned her!😈
What are you implying, Derrick? Hahaha. I am a BAD singer :) - Chris
@@IreneIronTravels “BAD” is a strong word. You’re just a little “vocally challenged” 🤣
