      They think in these absolutist dichotomies. Either you're with God or you're with the Devil; there is no other possibility. Either you're with currently traditional American capitalism or you want a new USSR in the US; there is no other possibility. Lead, follow, or get out of the way (ooh, complicated, a dichotomy within a dichotomy). Either you are an uber-duber alpha male or a properly submissive female; everything else is just degeneracy (ooh, complicated, a dichotomy within a dichotomy, give me a flow chart). And so on.
      They probably had parents who said "I'll make it real simple for you so you have no excuses: Either you obey and get rewarded or you disobey and get punished; don't try to get smart and say there is something else or you are disobeying and will be punished."

    • @balwinder345
      @balwinder345 Před 6 lety

      Colony Three
      Not really, if they didn't have a choice in the Chinese example.
      The reason why "IPhone Starbucks Socialist" is such an obvious meme is because... It kind of is hypocritical. You aren't leading by example in a free choice system. Capitalism didn't put the gun to your head to use iPhone, you could have used a cheaper smartphone or bought from companies that didn't use cheap outsourced labor. You don't have to buy coffee from the most overpriced chain. Its basking in the best of what the system has to offer while going "wow man, this system suuucks".
      Valid or not, no ones gonna accept that assertion from a spoiled, oblivious hypocrite. These people don't actually live the values they demand the government abide by.

    • @MrGrass97
      @MrGrass97 Před 6 lety +5

      balwinder345 I think it just speaks to conservatives’ values that the phones that are made with sweatshop labor are considered “the best the system has to offer.”
      No one is forcing anyone in China to get treated if they’re sick. You could not tell anybody, go off somewhere to die away from everyone. But they don’t. They choose to partake in the health care system their communist country provides for them. By your logic, it is therefore hypocritical to criticize the communist regime.
      Besides, someone can totally be in favor of a free market where cell phones are available and still criticize the capitalist health care system or education.
      This is not an all or nothing argument where you’re either in favor laissez faire economics or communism.
      But I understand that conservatives have a difficult time processing nuance.

    • @balwinder345
      @balwinder345 Před 6 lety

      Colony Three
      You're right, people who disagree with you clearly don't understand nuance and your massive IQ. Have a 100 thumbs up. Epic.
      Capitalists argue that its the best system on offer despite it not being perfect in all cases, for a reason. China could have simply not allowed foreign companies in at all. They did, because the obvious production brings in wealth. And again, its about choices and freedom afforded to the individual. Yes, this leads to inequity but the case has to be made that central planning is somehow better, when historically it hasn't been.
      As for the fact that its applied to just a few sections of the economy, that has to be made really crystal clear. Cause its very easy to push for state control of other sectors...cause why not, if its working better in these right? And a lot of people on this consumerist superficial level push for socialism don't seem to highlight that as being bright red lines they won't cross. That they just want to reform education and healthcare in these very specific ways. That matters way more than you think, that people know you are advocating for a very specific stance rather than a vague umbrella ideology.

    • @balwinder345
      @balwinder345 Před 6 lety

      Colony Three
      Also, for the Chinese healthcare example, how much freedom is afforded to them specifically in how they get healthcare? What's the relative quality? Again, the capitalist system does offer varying degrees of choices. Its not a fair comparison to say using communist party healthcare is hypocrisy cause it IS the only game in town. Are they allowed to go overseas for better treatment?
      One system simply has more options for personal control than the other. And that's where I can see the distinction of a personal hypocrisy.

    • @MrGrass97
      @MrGrass97 Před 6 lety

      balwinder345 Lets not even use China. Let’s take Germany, or Denmark, or Canada or Australia. Take your pick. How much money are you willing to bet that a majority of the population in those countries would rather switch to the American system?
      I can tell you right now, based on the approval ratings their health care systems have, very few would want to switch to a for profit health care system. Because statistically speaking, single payer systems provide better outcomes. I don’t see how that’s debatable given the wealth of information we have on this. Even conservative Republicans I’m friends with admit they’d prefer this system because it’s a no brainer.
      Capitalism is good at providing luxury items, sneakers, video games, furniture, and automobiles. It’s not good at providing health care coverage or retirement pensions. Period.

    By Alex Jones' own "logic", if a person cannot criticize capitalism, because he or she uses the products of capitalism , such as. cellphones and lattes (3:00 - 3:30), then no conservative, who has ever attended public school or has had their children attend public school, should criticize socialism, because the public school system is a microcosm of what socialism is - the public ownership of a service. Since the vast majority of conservatives have their children in public schools, or have themselves attended public schools, they should preclude themselves from any criticism with regards to public ownership of services, such as healthcare, higher education, and the prison system.

    I wish that girl knew more about socialism and Marxism so she could have schooled her on “socialism is when the gobmet does stuff, because the more the gobmit does stuff the more sosilizer it is” crap. Socialism is the next economic system AFTER capitalism where there is no employee/employer relationship, socialism has NOTHING to do with governments. If we had an economy with 100% worker cooperatives like Mondragon then we would have socialism. Marxism is the study of capitalism. If you don’t know these things then that shows you that the right wing has won against their war on economic education, just like the right had a war on biological Science (evolution) but they lost that war. The right also consistently wins the war on historical education this is why we do not read People’s History of the United States by Howard Zinn.
    The USSR was a State Capitalist country, the government was the employer. Peace. Join the left, stop being a liberal, capitalism can not be “fixed” nor should it be. Capitalism is inherently an IMMORAL system where people who don’t work live off of the labor of others.

Free public college tuition and being liberated from the burden of student debt will not cause us to have to eat rats. Taking better care of our environment and transitioning to cleaner sustainable renewable energy will not cause us to have to eat rats. Socialism has to be modified in order to work. That's why democratic socialism is so popular because it is not totalitarian socialism. Most developed countries have major Socialist networks like Socialized Medicine, Affordable Education, and Progressive taxation making sure Rich men and women can pay their fair share. And honestly people from socialized countries are just so much happier because they are taken care of by their Government while our Government feeds off of regular Americans, and donors and special interests telling them how to vote. Corruption is common here, people are just too blind to see.
