  • If you guys use Garmin connect with Zwift like I do you may have experienced the Anaerobic Shortage issue which causes your training weeks to be labelled unproductive. This is very frustrating if you are trying to use the connect app to improve you fitness.. I finally found a solution to the issue...

    Good video. High RPM and interval training is the way to go if your goal is to strengthen your heart without hurting your knees. Low RPM for longer periods of time can cause knee problems. When I did road cycling, I could go no further than 200 km. No matter how good shape I was in. My knees would give up at 200 km. due to an old injury from a time when I was doing too low RPM. Super annoying if the race was 250 km!!! As for short interval sessions, they also have the benefit that they do not compromise hypertrophy. Too much cardio (long sessions) can compromise hypertrophy.

    I’ve had similar issues and it was down to heart rate zones programmes

    What is your baseline HRV? I got sick last week and my HRV dropped. That was pretty cool to see that my Garmin actually recognized I was sick.

      Same thing happens to me. It actually tells me 1 or 2 days before I realise I am ill which is amazing! It is such a great metric to prevent over training. My HRV average on Garmin is 35ms. I did get concerned about that being low in comparison with other manufacturers but I believe the HRV number is relevant only to garmin and does not provide read across to other sources where a healthy HRV would be more like 50+

      @@thatgearguy How well do you feel your Garmin does at sleep tracking?

    • @thatgearguy
      @thatgearguy  Před 10 měsíci +1

      @@tallen316 it isnt perfect. If I sleep and dont get up to let dog out or go to the loo, its very accurate. If I do the things above and go back to sleep it can be way off.

    Do u mean 30 sec high intensity, then 2 min rest? Do u rest by completely stopping or just pedaling really slow?

    • @thatgearguy
      @thatgearguy  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Yes, periods of high intensity followed by low intensity. So say 1 minute 400w output followed by 2 minutes 170w output and repeat multiple times.

    i AM on verge of buying instinct 2x.
    How accurate are these heart rate moniotrs, hrvs and other health related data? also in what cases does it just fails.
    and since you are the user, talking for psychology pov, how frequently do you get disturbed or change the routine when you see the data? meaning where you better off without the health data?
    please help me

    • @thatgearguy
      @thatgearguy  Před 9 měsíci +1

      From what I have read the data is very accurate when compared to gold standard devices. Garmin have a great reputation in this area.
      Psychologically it has influenced me. The main effects have been being more careful with ensuring I have full rest days, changing night routine to get better sleep and varying cardio intensity to achieve improvement across several thresholds. I havent noticed any negative aspects to the changes.

      @@thatgearguy thanks for the reply. Appreciate it.
      Also how useful is the app.
      Is there any paywall like fitbit in Google watch?
      Also as compared to pixel watch 2, which is more accurate?

      @@increasingsun The app is free with no paywall and is very good. Never used the other watch mentioned so unable to comment on the comparison.
