... me being cheeky ... aussie aussie aussie :D just joking mate! i love nz! i love oz! i am so far liking Canadia :D ! but nz wins finally from a lifestyle perspective. canada .. wins from a career perspective if the USA is not an option due to racist immigration policies for high skilled alien immigrants of intellectually advanced degrees in math, physics, science and engineering from the top notch american universities and also having worked as one of the creme de la creme in the world in the tech sector! ... me personally ... going back to nz! but i love you aussieland! and o' canada you are breathtaking and nice! yes people in Canada are actually NICE!!! not like in the usa! where it is unsafe for immigrants!

Really interesting comparison. I really like that despite your final choice you did not dis Canada. I thought it was very balanced. As a kiwi I was surprised only about rental costs , however how you explained it, it made sense. I had thought of many of the points you raised hence why I found this was so intriguing. I also like the way you've made your video. As a kiwi who hosts over 100 foreign travelers in my home every year for free your perspective was refreshingly new

Hi. LOVE this video, and we have a few things in common too! LOL. My father use to live in Brampton on Central Park Drive. I am from Toronto and grew up mostly on the outskirts of Toronto in Rexdale, near Humber College in the 427 & Finch area. I am seriously considering to move to NZ! It's difficult for me though. I am currently single, living pay check to pay check so it's hard for me to save a lump sum of money to take with me to NZ.
But I guess I worry too much. I mean, I can't move to NZ unless I have a job there, right?? and finding a job in NZ when I'm in CA is probably not going to be an easy task. Another thing I panic about is residency. "Where will I go when I get there?" is what I often ask myself, although I am considering to look at renting an apartment in Christchurch if that's possible??
And YES, I do have a couple questions about getting a NZ Visa: I'm wondering under what circumstances would I qualify (or NOT qualify) to get a Visa AND does the NZ government offer any temporary financial assistance for new residents like CA does or am I on my own!? LOL.
I look forward to hearing from you. I did just subscribe to your channel, and I will check out your other videos. Take care.

Houses are the killer! If you could buy cash, your sorted. No medical insurance needed. ACC covers accidents (Accident Compensation) designed to help you get back to health and work. The sad fact though, is Auckland is sucking the rest of the country dry. People are migrating there, so the rest is being neglected. Domestically, Wellington is in a power struggle with Auckland. Wellington being the capital but Auckland being the economical powerhouse of the country.
Step outside Auckland and you are lacking in so many things, especially higher education and specialised medical services. Wellington with its political spending and some inconsistent movie income is about the best option outside of Auckland. Christchurch is finished, gone, done. Backward thinking, stagnant rebuilding with poor planning and lack of national funding will see this city die. It will never again be what it was, NEVER!
But! And this is a big but! If you want to get out of the rat race, chill out, not worry about keeping up with the Jones’ then outside of Auckland is ok.
But also, for families with kids, who may wish to go to University you’re going to have to think about location very carefully. Unless you have a great income, once you step outside Auckland there’s no getting back in, as house prices will be too high. We will see if this so called global recession hits, its already 12 months behind.
We were thinking about leaving NZ for Canada, but changed our minds, and now that we sail all year round in Auckland, I could not imagine going up there, although it’s an absolutely stunning Country.
There are three things that you need to think about when immigrating to another country:
      1. Money
      2. Money
      3. Money
      1. Are/will you earn enough money to retire on there? NZ retirement/pension is very low, you will need to supplement it with either investments/shares/stocks or rental income from investment properties. Or you stay in Auckland, make money from capital gain in your property and pack up and move to Australia where you can buy a cheaper house and have some left over to live off in your old age.
      2. Will your income be enough to buy a house and live at the standard you require? Or are you going to sacrifice it all for the good of your kids?
      3. Will you be coming here with a job already set up for you to earn good money, that will give you a good life?
Coming from countries such as India with a lower standard of living you would be happy. But coming from another (let’s just say Western Country’) you’d have to be careful. NZ has many issues, drugs are a major problem, especially P’.
And no this is not an attack on India so please, don’t start.
Like I always say NZ can be summed up in one single sentence:
New Zealand, first world aspirations on a third world budget”
We just don’t have the money.......

The acommodation prices depends on the city, maybe you live in a small town in NZ. In Auckland (which is the only real big city in all NZ) THERE IS NO WAY to find a House for less than $500 PER WEEK which is more than 2000 per month and there is not "decent house"

    This video is so informative and you have done a proper comparison between both the countries. I would really appreciate and suggest you to add following points which I believe that it will help others as well;
    1. Work life balance
    2. Quality of living
    3. Ease of finding a job or starting a business
    4. Freedom and safety
    5. point of view of locals towards immigrants (Whether is there any kind of a discrimination and how welcoming they are)
    6. Best place to raise a family
    Thanks!

@ShanukaRanavake Please do keep in mind that Canada is very extensive in it's geographic mass with five time zones and an amazingly varied culture!! British Columbia which is just one province of Canada is bigger than the entire country of NZ. So, along with the large land size, you can see a strong cultural shift from Vancouver to Calgary to Regina to Winnipeg to Toronto to Montreal (with it's own intrinsic French culture). And mind you, I am not even mentioning Yukon, NWT or any of the Atlantic provinces- which are almost like a pristine world of their own!!
We have totally French provinces like Quebec and also provinces like New Brunswick which are truly bilingual and then there are many of the other provinces where English is predominant and you will need to search for a French speaking person... like for e.g. in Vancouver or Calgary.
This is just so can make it a point to obtain a wider perspective if you are considering Canada.
It will be nice to watch what Preet has to say when she makes that video....
