    I have made this so much lately my family loves it. I added 3 tablespoons of oil which adds more moisture and seems to last a few days longer. I also when adding my Everything Bagel seasoning, I do an egg wash, then generously sprinkle the seasoning on top. This seems to hold the toppings better then just the oil. I’ve also experimented with freezing the raw dough after the first rise. Works great. Just defrost in fridge overnight, let it rise, and then shape into loaves and bake. Also if your bread becomes stale, this will sound weird, but I ran the loaf quickly under water for maybe 30 seconds, then bake for about 10-16 minutes. It refreshes the bread and tastes freshly baked. No more tossing old bread because it dried out!

    • @Mistyvalentine
      @Mistyvalentine Před 2 lety

      Do you add the oil into the dough or just put extra oil on top of the loaves? The water trick isn't weird at all, I do that for just about any baked food item before putting it into the microwave to make it softer and fresher tasting again

    • @peggythomas2103
      @peggythomas2103 Před 2 lety +2

      @@Mistyvalentine After I check to see if my yeast is okay, then I add that into the water/yeast mixture then put into the bowl and add the other ingredients. I brush the top with either an egg wash or egg whites which I thin with about 1 tablespoon of water, then I add like sesame seeds or everything bagel seasoning on it.

    • @Mistyvalentine
      @Mistyvalentine Před 2 lety

      @@peggythomas2103 You add the oil into the yeast mixture? I'm sorry, I just want to make sure I do it right and thank you so much for helping me :)

    • @peggythomas2103
      @peggythomas2103 Před 2 lety +2

      @@Mistyvalentine yes, I put all my wet ingredients together after my yeast has proofed. I put my wet ingredients in the bowl first, then the flour this way it doesn’t stick and clump on the bottom. Then I start mixing. Even if you forgot while your mixing your dough, add it then. I’ve done that and it worked great too.

    I just made this bread following your recipe. This is the first time I have ever attempted to make my own bread and I am so glad I tried! Big golden rolls that are so delicious that I can't believe that I made them! One thing I don't understand is how heavy the bread is compared to store-bought bread. I'm not complaining though because the taste was excellent. Thank you so much for giving me the confidence to try this recipe on my own!

    About the pink salt. We came across an American pink sea salt several years ago. It is from Utah with the brand name "Real Salt". I looked it up & read about it. We really like it. Can be ordered online but we were very happy to find it at the grocery "Sprout". I like supporting American products. The bread looks very good. I make it like that also but use my fresh wheat flour & comes out very well.

      I cook in a 50 year old Rayburn that burns coal. I'm not sure the thermometer works, but I shove my bread in when it is around the 300 deg. F mark, it might take a little longer sometimes but the bread cooks fine. All ovens vary a little you just have to use them and get a feel for them. Have fun!
