    I was actually able to get better performance out of the pen by making some adjustments to pressure sensitivity in the ‘Surface’ app. It’s not too dissimilar to the settings adjustments that can be made with the Wacom. I am very happy with this machine although I still prefer my IPad for drawing. That said, it is more than suitable for some work I may need to do in Photoshop where my iPad lacks. Great review!

      The s8 offers nothing over the s7 really. Save updates. I got a s7+ a few weeks ago for £400 and I'm very happy with it. Unlike my Surface book 3 the stylus is great for using over the entire OS not just apps. A paper-like screen foil really adds to the drawing experience.

    The 120hz screen is really good for the eyes . you can add a non reflective cover to the screen for a small cost , that also can cut blue light . the feel of the built , the simplicity and minimalist design really nice . My only regret is that i have about 1% battery wear after 6 months . i believe i could have kept it at 0% if not for some mistakes . for you guys who are plugged in most times , use battery limit mode , it only charges till 50% and then will draw power from your source thereafter . I didnt use this untill a few weeks ago , instead relying on the inbuilt smart charging system that is abit buggy, and you cant control .at 50% , even if you take it out , you get 4-5 hours ... so i normally use for 3 hrs and i am left with about 18-20%...once a week should let it drain to 20 .

    Watched both your review and another one. Basically what I get is the "halfway" screen angle Microsoft chose is not comfortable for drawing and the "almost flat" mode is not great for drawing many hours on your desk. It seems both of you might have liked ana ngle of 15-30 degrees with the desk for comfortable drawing over several hours ? If so, maybe Microsoft could take note ?

      I'm not sure if the GB2Pro360 will be released in Singapore. If it's available, I'll review it. But based on the specs and design I've seen, it's not something I would buy. Three reasons.
      1. It's a 16:9 display which it's an instant no-go for me.
      2. I don't like how you can touch the keys on the back with the fold, which is why I prefer tablets or those with attached keyboards.

      I'm gonna use the device mainly for notetaking (studies), occasional drawing, & preferably a device with Windows OS.
      So far, SurfaceProStudio has the best handling feel on its stylus, & the way it's bottom end can be used as eraser😊
      Writing on both TabS8 Ultra & GalaxyBook2Pro360 aren't so far from each other, even though screen refresh rates are.

    If the this came with the new 12th gen Intel Alderlake CPUs (which has like double the performance), and the pen performance was a bit better, this would be serious contender as a productivity & artist laptop for the price.

    I have had this SLS for 6 months now . at 1.7+kg , it is not as light as you would want but its ok . There is not enough mention on the different viewing modes here . like tent mode is really useful if you would like to be at a burger king and simply sit back , with your back on the seat . because in tent mode the screen is closer to u , you can sit back . also great for business presentations . in tablet mode , you can lay on sofa comfortably and simply use it to even read E-newspapers , can rotate the screen orientation , and it looks like newspapers . yes its not very light , but if you know how to hold it , even with one hand and elbow say resting on your thigh ...it works great . This SLS is really about the versatile viewing modes ... for a windows product , its the best all in one right now . I would have loved to get an IPAD pro 12.9 , but it cannot run alot of programs and save files and organise files , for this you need to go to MAC , but then again Macbooks have no touch screen . Apple purposely dont want to have products that overlap . this SLS is really trying to give you an all in one . But then again this SLS is expensive . for the same amount of money , yes you could actually get a decent classic Laptop like the surface laptop 5 for the windows , + with the extra money get an entry ipad pro 11 inch .

      Hi there I really love my SLS so I treat it like gold . There is really a few things . Careful when you flip the screen , be slow and steady when you change view modes . I mean I believe it’s solid but just abit scared of hinge problem . Find your own way how best to manoeuvre the screen , I use both hands . Think 🤔 for yourself . Always use at a cool place 20-32 degrees celcius is best . To ensure battery never heat up . Battery limit mode is great if you are plugged in mostly . 50% is the ideal . Even u take out for 3 hours use , only 30% -35% you lose . So 50% limit works . At least Once a week bring it out to use it and let it go down to 15-20 is ok . Avoid 100% full charge . no freeze on laptop . Nowadays laptops are so powerful shouldn’t freeze . If happens it’s cos you got some pirated software causing problems. Or you didn’t shut down regularly or didn’t restart regularly . Some leave on standby most times . My battery wear at 6 months now is 0% occasionally but mostly 1% . It fluctuates . Cycles : 20 . Don’t believe in the cycles thingy , I went to Harvey Norman shop to check the display sets . Their cycles only 15 but battery wear was -10% . So proves that simply leaving the laptop plugged in daily for months for 10 hours a day , hurts the battery . Likely it’s the heat and cos they never use it unplugged and drain now and then . Why would they ? It’s a display set after all . What’ they could have done better was set a battery limit mode to 50% . Your new SLS will give you 58,500-58900 Mwh … around 3-5% more than the design capacity of 56310 mwh . I have heard some others still have 57000 mwh at 6 months . That’s 101% … battery is most important . Everything else can be replaced . Not the battery .

      Some apps, e.g. Clip Studio Paint, may let you adjust how the lines taper. But how sensitive or accurate the pen is will ultimately come down to the hardware (pen). It will be quite tedious to always adjust the taper for each new brush you use. Adjusting global pressure settings doesn't make the hardware limitation go away.

    Are you working with the 16 GB RAM or 32 GB RAM? Does this difference in RAM matter for you?

    • @teohontech7141
      @teohontech7141  Před 2 lety +2

      16GB should be sufficient for most workflows. 32GB is good if you want many apps open at the same time, or you are working with huge file sizes.

      @@teohontech7141 I see. Thank you.
      I don't need the graphics card.
      I'll be using the device for school and light digital art so portability is a huge factor. My only real reason for considering the sls is the larger screen and better battery life.
      My largest turn off is weight and I find the 3 postion screen be underwhelming.
      I've watched your comparison video and many others and appreciate you taking the time to reply.
      With knowing that I don't need the graphics card and it being the major difference I'll pick up the sp8.

      i got one and i think it's one of the best laptop i ever bought . Got a few problem over the years tho :
      The fan after some time of use can became a lil more noisy . usually after the warranty ended . it's a design problem .
      The surface pen 2 will lose the skin / gum that cover it over time also if you live in a very hot country on summer the adhesives that keep the plastic lil feet/strip on the bottom attached can fall off without a reason so yeh .
      I used it with care but quite a lot and it's always around without cover / case . Maybe a good cover can avoid this problems but still a boomer for a premium laptop . like they said the devil is in the details ... Nothing big and for sure a better purchase than a surface ... Overall a amazing machine.

    This or Asus ROG Flow Z13?

    • @teohontech7141
      @teohontech7141  Před 2 lety +2

      I've not tested the Asus ROG Flow Z13 so I can't say much.
      ASUS is 1.53kg with keyboard case. SLS is 1.74kg. For a tablet, ASUS is heavy.
      And battery life of the ASUS isn't that good but if you're near a power source often, it's no problem.

    I wanted this but I went for a 15 inch 2019 macbook pro and a 2028 ipad pro 12.9 inch. I just can't stand the lag on microsoft devices when scrolling through chrome. I had that issue with my surface book 2 15 inchand 13 inch and both were fully loaded. And the CPU speeds compared to macbooks (especially vs the M1 chip) is abysmal. Hopefully things will change.
    EDIT: The MacBook ended up being so limited in every way. I ended up buying a top-spec surface laptop studio and it has been great (especially with windows 10).

      Many tablets need a stand. Of my head, I can only think of pen displays with built-in stands but even those have low angles and a stand is still recommended.
