      Thanks for the support! You know that wouldn't be a bad idea, i honestly hate reading blogs and posts and would rather watch a video, but my wife is completely opposite. Maybe a blog one day. 🤘

    Curious about your electrical. Did you leave that surge protector behind and just plug everything into that? Was that one outlet/breaker able to support everything for your tv and the fireplace on one? How many volts on that breaker? Thanks.

    • @BreakFreeHomestead
      @BreakFreeHomestead  Před 4 lety +1

      Hey Jacob, I just plugged the fireplace directly into the outlet, and used a small extension cord to get the outlet to the access hole behind the TV.
      I believe the curcut it a regular 25 amp but the fireplace doesn't dra any more power than a normal space heater and the only other thing plugged in is the TV and a router that sits behind it.
      So pretty low draw.
      Let me know if you have any other questions.
      Thank you for the support!

    Noticed at 6:31, there’s 2 extra what look like 2x4s inside of your fireplace frame that weren’t there prior. Can you elaborate on this? Planning materials to follow this guide for ourselves. Thanks!

    • @BreakFreeHomestead
      @BreakFreeHomestead  Před 2 lety

      For sure, those were used to adjust on how far the fireplace sits in the framing.

    Hey, I love this. My spouse is looking to build this, but my only question is where do you put your cable boxes? Are they hidden behind tv?

    • @BreakFreeHomestead
      @BreakFreeHomestead  Před 2 lety +1

      Thanks! We dont use cable boxes, we stream and only had a modem hidden behind the Tv.

    Hi can you please let me know the distance between the top of the heater and the lower part of the mantle. Is there a regulation? Also does the mantle get hot?

    • @BreakFreeHomestead
      @BreakFreeHomestead  Před 3 lety +1

      Yvonne, the mantle is 7 inches above and it doesn't really get hot. I don't believe there is a regulation but you could check your area. It's basically just a space heater mounted to the wall.
      Thanks for supporting our channel! 🤙🤙

      @@BreakFreeHomestead thank you. We love the way you built the fireplace. We are building one too. We bought this electric heater with the top vent, similar to yours, should of bought one with a front vent, but thanks to your video, I can have my fireplace now.

  • @chasedykema1898

    I suppose you wouldn't need the backerboard on there huh? I am thinking about doing just primed shiplap and paint over it.

    • @BreakFreeHomestead
      @BreakFreeHomestead  Před 3 lety +1

      You could skip it if you are using a thicker material, but if you're using the .25 inch I would keep the backer.

    I’m curious about electrical as well. Are you able to pull the fireplace insert out easily if you need to get to the outlet for whatever reason?

    • @audreyrodela7391
      @audreyrodela7391 Před 3 lety

      Last question: since the side braces were off the wall at an angle, did you nail just the corners in to the studs?

    • @BreakFreeHomestead
      @BreakFreeHomestead  Před 3 lety

      Audrey, thanks for watching! To remove the insert we would have to remove the side trim and one shiplap piece. You could possibly not cover one of the pieces with the trip and try to put hinges on it for more frequent access.

    • @BreakFreeHomestead
      @BreakFreeHomestead  Před 3 lety

      Yes we just screwed the frame into the existing studs of the wall.

    I'm curious, how wide is this set up. I plan to do the same thing at 4 ft wide.

    • @BreakFreeHomestead
      @BreakFreeHomestead  Před 2 lety

      This is just over 4 foot, we used a single length of plywood and the trim extends past to finish it off.

      @@BreakFreeHomestead Do you have theater seating? If you sit on a regular sofa, you have to look up at a weird angle.
