Realistic Fluid Simulations

  • This is just a compilation of some of my favourite fluid simulations, including some smoke, through creative commons videos I have found on CZcams.
    Most were made in RealFlow, although some were made in Blender. Some of the RealFlow ones were simply visualised with OpenGL, while others were rendered with variety of renderers like Maxwell Render.
    Songs are "Dub Zap" and "Trancer" by Gunnar Olsen.
    I created this video with the CZcams Video Editor ( / editor )

    Step 1: Buy a fucking monster PC
    Edit: I've not tried other softwares, but I did this on Blender and to get this level of detail on my computer (a 4 years old laptop) it would takes hours just to bake the animation. Rendering would take a lot more.

    • @KingPeuche
      @KingPeuche Před 7 lety +13

      Most PCs can actually render this pretty well. As long as it's a recent PC. Even a current 500$ laptop could realistically create and run this pretty smoothly.

    • @FlyingBanana78
      @FlyingBanana78 Před 7 lety +17

      Only downside is the bake times involved especially working on a laptop such as the one I am on i3 with 8 gigs of ram LOL actually working on a fluid and smoke sim now that has been baking for about 2 hours and is at 50 percent. But yes it will get the job done and will render the scene decently over a couple weeks while sitting in the freezer. ;)

      Same! The easiest way to tell that its simulated is that the liquid doesn't fully settle into the thin layers you get normally, creating the raised bumps that you see towards the end, and the fact that the tiny droplets don't conjoin once they've landed. That, 4:25, and 6:54 are some of the best simulations I've ever seen!

    no ones giving love to the awesome gas effects 0:58 and people are complaining that they dont look real but its hard for them to LOOK real when they're not textured and interacting with wireframe objects. The important thing is that they're ACTING real

    You could make a proper WTC animation, how it collapsed isn't what matters, with that smoke you could make absolutely beautiful video material.

    Where do you compute the collisions of the fluids with the static objects? On the GPU or the CPU?
    I first thought the GPU but wouldn't that be really dump, because you need to give the shader the positions of all the static objects?
