Renato mautino in casa dj riposo a san mauro torinese.
Corelli had the greatest and most complete technique (he could do ANYTHING with his voice), the greatest and most expressive and sensuous voice, the greatest emotional sophistication, the richest and most impactful phrasing, the best looks and he was the best actor of all tenors. He was simply THE BEST!
Franco had a beautiful smile and was a wonderful, kind man. I knew him personally and he was always smiling, laughing, and in good spirits. His teeth were perfect and without flaw.
I was lucky enough to have heard him live and up close. I will never forget the impact of his voice. One of the unforgettable events. Thank you Franco.

Tucker asserted in an interview that no tenor could ever execute this treacherous vocal effect (the Aida decrescendo). It seems to me that Tucker made this comment during the time that Corelli was already achieving it in performance. I have always wondered what Tucker meant to say.
Thank you for your observation and comment. With regards to his technique, Corelli obviously did not receive the credit he deserved. IMHO, the only "weakness" Mr. Corelli displayed was his lack of the "charisma" that helped the popularity of other gifted tenors like Pav and Lanza.
Welcome all the listeners to this page and any young tenors and want to be tenors. Please study Franco.'s voice .I do not expect any of you to be as good as He but Ye might get close and bring some proper operatic tenor singing voice back into our lives.Thank You.And thank You Canale di Khed 14
Since when is smiling related in any way to charisma ? And since we're ''on the same team'' as you say, could you be so kind as to tell me what is so ''arrogant'' in my comment ? Because, in all honesty, pointing out that stage fright is not related to charisma is just stating the obvious (and if I'm not mistaken, Pavarotti was quite open about his stage fright himself so...).
Corelli had a ''lack of charisma'' ?!?!!! In relation to Pavarotti nonetheless ??!!! If Corelli is not charismatic I really don't know who is (and confusing stage fright with lack of charisma is quite bizarre really).
i suspect that once you get past the volume, which was indeed prodigious....and picture someone singing that is short, bald, and fat....opinions may be tempered somewhat. Having said that, i have lots by Corelli, who is, without doubt one of the great tenor voices.
AMEN. And one does not need to be an "opera expert" to FEEL it...and know it. No disrespect to the other great tenors at all. In fact, as I stated below, one could argue that like Superman, Mr. Corelli did indeed have a weakness. His "kryptonite" was his lack of the charisma that Pav displayed because of the near paralyzing "stage fright" / nerves that he battled. Kept Barbra Streisand off stage for YEARS.
Such a shame. A man with the gifts that he had - the voice, the looks...you'd have thought that he'd be smiling all the time. Obviously, I'm sure that he did well for himself financially. Why would he not have had cosmetic surgery to fix his teeth if they were that bad?
Probably because they weren't that bad in the first place (yes, he didn't have Lanza's or del Monaco's dentition but who has ?). Moreover, any kind of teeth surgery could have a detrimental impact on a singer's career (look at what happened to Alagna). The ''problem'' (if there was any) was that his gums became too apparent when he smiled (according to Cesarini, US producers didn't take FC for Silent Melody because of this, even if they were impressed by his looks).
