  • Fantastic trip over to Dublin Ireland last week. Had a ball!!
    Olly Nolan is the owner and creator of Ollys Farm. he has created a super beekeeping business on the south of Dublin and markets most of his honey direct in Ireland.
    he has a lot of honey bees on the summer heather which yields absolutely amazing honey.
    Here is the ink to his website if you wish to purchase any honey: www.ollysfarm.ie
    Thanks Olly, it was great to finally meet you! keep up the great work!!

    Thanks for all the help labelling pots of honey and getting that fencing back in around the hives that the horses took away 😁

    That's a nutty farm. Shows when you invest propperly what can be achieved. If only land didn't cost the earth down here in hampshire.

    Sir do, I see you are having a brainstorm, I totally enjoyed the trip with you to Olly's Farm and look forward to seeing much more in the coming season.
    Once you know your colony limit you can then have wiggle room going forward.
    Good luck, stay safe stay healthy to do beekeeping tomorrow 👋.

    Thanks Richard for sharing. I love seeing a medium sized well run operation. This is the first medium sized operation that I have seen and have been wondering how sustainable an operation of this size can run. Thanks again for sharing.

    Fair play, I've got 140 hives and I can't afford one of those stainless steel tables never mind the Mog, extractor, huge barn etc etc 🤣🤣

    • @rogierdikkes
      @rogierdikkes Před 2 lety +1

      Heather honey is the most expensive honey in my region. It's horrible to harvest. Where I can sling 12 full boxes in a day, heather honey took me 5-7 days. Reason is that it turns to a sort of jelly in the comb and impossible to get out.
      Can sell it for double the price, but it's an acquired taste.

      @simonblakeway559 Před 2 lety +1

      @@rogierdikkes oh I know heather honey 😊 I use some for cut comb and the rest goes in the hydropress. A good year covers the diesel and winter feed for those colonies 🤣 Tastes amazing though 👍

    Richard, do you know what type material was used for the walls in Olly's extracting room. I'm getting ready to build and am trying to decide what is best for walls, I'm really leaning toward the PVC wall panels, just not sure of all the options available for washable waterproof walls.
