    I don’t have those thingies but I do have monkey bars which are very very old but I like them because I can do lots of new tricks on them. My friend say I’m not good on the monkey bars. They’re just messing around with me once my friend actually told me that I was really bad on the monkey bars, but I ignored her

    A bit late, but is there more of an ab and strength benefit if you try to avoid swinging too much? Swinging does seem to make it easier and more flowing.

    • @rikkinetic
      @rikkinetic  Před rokem +3

      Possibly! I think if you move through the monkey bars and limit movement of the torso it will involve several muscles to work harder in order to resist the pull of gravity. It will be a chain of muscles which would definitely include the core.
      It depends on what your goal is, limiting movement is good for speed but less efficient meaning it would be harder to sustain for longer 🐒

    • @RyuuHatake
      @RyuuHatake Před rokem +1

      It would benefit you yes, but most monkey bars are spaced far enough apart to where swinging is sort of a necessity. You may have much longer arms than me and can reach them though

    Hi, great videos of course. But how do you deal with skin on your palms? Is there anything to minimise the damage or to heal it quicker?

    • @rikkinetic
      @rikkinetic  Před 3 lety +4

      Thank you 😊 great question.
      With regular practice your hands will start to condition up, meaning the skin will get tougher and calluses will appear.
      However, there definitely are things you can do to reduce the chances of ripping. I find the liquid chalk is too “sticky” and therefore increases the likelihood that your hands will rip whilst using it. Dry chalk is better or even none at all. I also find when the bars are hotter the probability of ripping goes up, so it’s best to use the monkey bars on a cooler day or cooler time of day.
      As far as recovering goes I just think allowing them to recover naturally is best, which means resting from bar work until the skin has healed. I know people who use creams to help the healing process so you could try that too.
      I hope this helps

    Great content and a great challange but it can be achieved. Do you think that monkey barrs could help me with my muscle up? I have never tried it but do you think it will have a carryover to maybe deadlifts and muscleup? Could you one day post something like that? What carryover does the monkey bars have? Or any other chalistenics exercises?

    • @rikkinetic
      @rikkinetic  Před 8 měsíci +1

      Thank you 😊 yes definitely achievable 💪🏼🐒
      Obviously monkey bars will improve grip strength which carries over to a lot of other stuff. Bent arm techniques will help to improve strength and the straight arm techniques help to improve body awareness and flow.
      This video may cover some of the things you’re talking about???

    • @rikkinetic
      @rikkinetic  Před 2 lety +5

      Hi thanks for your feedback 😊
      I’m assuming you watched the whole video as these are the techniques that I’ve taught to several beginner clients who haven’t done monkey bars before. What I’ve found with most people is the biggest barrier is fear and taking the first step or first rung if you like, is the hardest part. Once people do that they usually surprise themselves!
      Having said that, whilst I’ve used these techniques on many people who are beginners to monkey bars, they haven’t been beginners to fitness and this video therefore is perhaps aimed at people who already partake in some form of fitness and therefore have a certain level of grip strength. If you need to improve grip strength before attempting these techniques then the dead hang would be a good starting point.
      I’ll link some videos below which might help as prerequisites to this one and show you some exercises you can work on before moving on to the monkey bar techniques.

      The hands will start to condition the more frequent you use the monkey bars! However it’ll be a case of managing them. If they’re sore from a session allow a day or two for them to recover. I still get sore hands now especially if I’m returning to monkey bars after a week or two off, so whilst it does get better with time it’s something that you will never be immune to ✋🏼🤚🏼🐒
