My best friend committed suicide in 2009. She was 16 years old. We were in the middle of our final exams in high school. I was so devastated. I turned to drugs and alcohol. Today I have been sober for a very very long time. God gave me purpose and my purpose is to live. She is the reason I am sober today. Thank you. This song reminds me of the darkness but also the love that brought me here today. Thank you. Bless you all. I wouldn't be here today if it wasn't for her.

I would say that it gets easier with time but it dont, do everything you can to make your old man proud!
Its ok buddy. Things seem to get easier but I think you learn how to find happiness in other things to offset the hurt. The hurt you have now will always be there for someone you are that close to, but thats a good thing, it helps keep you humble too. Wish you the best through your tuff times bud!

Gotta say I keep coming back to this song over the years. 2 wars then 12 years as a street cop in a terrible place. So much death, misery and sadness it’s difficult to make sense of. Let me start by saying, I have been a fan since I first heard "The Ranger". I lost my 16 year old son December 1st 2015, and I have heard this song many times since he passed, including it being beautifully sang at his funeral. I was to the point where I felt like I may never feel anything ever again. I was in my brothers tattoo shop with all my buds, just showing them how talented you were and I came across your cover of this song. I sat in that tattoo shop and cried my eyes out.
