And Zagreus had to fight his dad 800 times to hang out with mom for 2 minutes...
Not quite. In Greece, it is the great heat of summer that ends the growing season. Persephone would be with Hades in summer, not winter.
@@Vaurnut Doesnt winter start when Perse is in the underworld?
@@greenapple9477 Demeter kills crops when her daughter is in the underworld. Drought and heatwaves are bigger crop killers than frost in Greece. Like, planting crops in January is a good idea in Greece.
Funny enough that event lead to my hometown in southern Germany celebrating a "festival for the children" every year since, minus last year and this of course.
It's pretty large and attracts visitors from far beyond our small town with its size, a lot of rides and general focus on children. The reasoning behind that was that children had to suffer the most under starvation, famine and the general chaos, taking away from what could've been a proper childhood.
All schoolchildren get tickets for free rides, food and the likes, but most perform a sort of procession from the center to the festival ground where the recite the events whereafter they get to enjoy the rides and fares for 3 full days, including a day where they don't have to go tk school whilst the adults sit at the largest open air beer tables and have fun amongst themselves.
Sorry if I talked to much about it, but it's rare to get to share such a story with the rest of the world, most of which wouldve probably never heard of that.
Sounds great! Thanks for sharing
@@Davey-Boyd of course! Really curious as to what other festivities around the globe might have sprung up from it considering the sheer scale of this event in human history 😊

A few years before 1816 there was another eruption a bit smaller that also caused europe to be much cooler, which caused the French revolution

I was about to say, cold and wet describes a typical English summer without any volcanoes. At least we might get some snow with the latter.

"but it turns out crops feel differently" killed me
good: Sam brings up Mythbusters

Best set up ever!!!
My guy, west coast fires have little to nothing to do with global warming. It’s the fact that we’ve basically been not doing enough controlled burns or cutting down enough trees there, thereby allowing fuel to just keep accumulating and becoming a huge problem once a fire does inevitably start. It’s very similar to what happened a couple years ago in Beirut with that giant fertilizer explosion. No one decided to manage the fire hazard, so it decided to manage itself.
The various versions of Daniel Radcliffe were glorious. My favorite role was as boyfriend in tween girls dreams

Like the Vienna Academy of Fine Arts' decision to reject the application of a young Austrian boy, the year without a summer had a number of unexpected consequences.
This event actually changed fashion. From filmy, diaphanous gowns and breeches to quilted thick skirts, jackets, and long pants.
A later major eruption (along with bad decisions by the Kaiser) caused famines in Germany. So people left Germany for America, creating the farm belt of the Midwest.
