Pandolo (traditional Istrian social and sports game)

Few knows that Pandolo is known arround the world. A game, that is regarded as predecessor of baseball, allways marked Piran, the home of active pandolists, members of Federation of pandolo games Slovenia. A colorful company of different generations boasts with many athletic achivements, from title of national champion to the world record in throwing maz. Beside the sports meaning this ancient game has also a huge cultural purpose that reflects social life of local people.

as kids we played pandolo in Eastern Austria in den 60's. My father had brought it from the Bácska where he grew up. It might be the ancient form of baseball.
