Disney-MGM Studio Backlot Presentation (1987)

In May 1987, Disney Imagineers made a presentation to the Burbank City Council describing their vision for a 40-acre entertainment, shopping, and dining complex in downtown Burbank. The Disney-MGM Studio Backlot would feature a number of elements developed for the Disney-MGM Studios Theme Park, then under construction in Orlando. While the City Council approved the project, Disney dropped out nearly a year later citing financial concerns.
